Has any one else seen this show? It is pretty cool to see the NFL Films guys do high school suff, I think they do a good job. Everything is crisp and clear like watching stories on the NFL. www.versus.com/nw/article/view/40923/?UserDef=true&catID=79Are these truely the biggest rivals? I know of the "muck bowl" being in FL What are some of the other biggest Rilvaries in HS football? (I am sure there will be different answers being from different states)

Yesterday I saw the Cleveland Browns run a Jet with Josh Cribbs against the dolphins. They got about 3 to 4, but it was the first time I have seen it in the NFL (in any recent memory). There was a thread before that mentioned San Fran ran one but it was a reverse. Did anyone else see it?

Many thanks to FBDOC for the clinic Also thanks to bigcrocs and there was another who did some diagrams before it started. On a side note: Many signed on at 7:30 and 8:00 for the clinic(including myself), it started at 9pm EST there was some confusion. Will the rest start at 9 EST?
Thanks again

On a positve note, the new head coach Roland Smith, I think. Was the Schutt HS Coach of the Year for rebuilding them after the debacle shown in the documentary. there is an artical on him and the team in AMF s Feb. issue.

Im not in the position to give advice, but I do have a question, it may not be to for this thread, but the thread is what made me come up with it.
-If you had a spread team that wanted to throw(stay in the phylosopy he is building), even though they had no atheletes, what routes or what part of the system would you change to help the team be successfull in moving the chains, and running the clock? Airraider mentioned quick passing and Screens. Would the run and shoot type principles of "He near, me far He in,me out" (not sure if I got that right) help even the difference in athletic ability through reading like the veer does on the run?

If Hawaii wins in the sugar bowl, should they get a share of the national championship? Like USC did a few years ago? ( i know the wont but is there an argument for it?) How is a team like Hawaii, able to do so well with no recruiting budget? It can't just be the offensive system.... June Jones is a heck of a coach.... hopefully with the trip to the sugarbowl they get some more money into thier program.

SW, that is a good point. I was always to big & tall to play in youth because of weight limits. So my first experience was in highschool as a freshman.... needless to say I had my A$$ handed to me, for at least two years before I caught up. It was not because I physically could not do it but because I did not understand the game and speed of it.
Coaches.... a good Idea would be get the youth orgs to get rid of the weight limits to play... or have an unlimited team

quote] BTW, what is making us change our offense? Is it the talent available? The parents? The booster club? The school board? Jeff the Expert is asking for the change

I also think the Head coach does not have to teach. I read a paper or transcript from a clinic on the bubble screen and the coach (I think from Robert E. Lee High) mentions this, and the fact that they need assistants starting around 40k??? (don't hold me to this, I read it a while ago)

Prior isn't going to commit yet... I don't know if he wants to wait and see which schools NEED him after everyone else signs or what... I hope/pray this is the result of the young man genuinely not being sure where he wants to go, and not a grandstanding type of endeavor. I read he has been playing basketball and has not been able to visit Oregon yet and Penn State(his father would like him to go there). He was set to sign and the night before had a talk with his father and now wants to give Penn State and Oregon a look before making a final decision. On a coaching note: Do you encourage your players (who are being recruited) to visit all the schools they are able too? Even if they are already leaning in a direction?

Coach if you have a real good back and athletic QB with a smaller line, and are used to running the Veer from a DW look, Why not the flexbone spread option? It sounds like your almost there now...your good back would go to FB, he gets the most carries and in this offense the FB is more of a RB type anyway. The line does not have to be big. You can then go into shotgun if you want to get the pistol look and your recievers are already spread.

"Semi-successful" sounds pretty close to being "Semi-unsuccessful"
Might be more successfull, if the run around and get open route coach Jeff speaks of was utilized more.
Seriously Brophy's response makes sense (See Below)

Football evolves, "spread" is part of the evolution right now...Ted:the wild bunch could be next ....eventually it will move in other directions...maybe, and more than likely, even back to "pounding" the football
