I think I will use the latex paint, here in florida the grass grow supper fast in the summer and it will be the closest thing to the real thing.

Brophy, do you use the aerosol paint and spray the lines?
I can't kill the grass we practice at a school yard, the lawn mower may be a good Idea, but the grass is kept pretty short already. I found out that the city will line a field, but we have 7 teams that have to practice on it. so I will have to line a small 40 or 30 yrd section off to the side so my team will get used to where they are on the field.

Coaches, I am a youth coach in a program with out a lot of money. We have to practice our first 3 weeks at a small field in fort lauderdale, FL that has no lines, before we move to our normal practice field, which will also have no lines.
I was wondering if there are any tricks to help lining a field or ways to do it cheaper than normal? any ideas? I have never done one before. I do have the dimensions.
I was thinking about making 40 yard sections of the field for the different age group teams.

Ted, Wouldn't Your youth Wing -T would be a good intro into the WB for 7 year olds? There is some simmilar things
Jim, A coach who states "I wont teach it" to the head coach is asking to be let go... or put on some other duty that he will do. (it looks as if this is what you did) It may be a solution that works out because the coach now saves face...if you would have kicked him off, you would have made an enemy in the program and I have heard stories of that comming back around and bitting them in the @$$

Our league does not waive the 50-79 rule and eligible #s recievers, and the refs are told to stricktly inforce it... wish they would waive it, only if it is a blow out will they...

I think they just want to get the games over with faster half the time This is very true, many times they are there for 4 or more games and just want to go home. Good post Coach

CoachJim, this is my first year coaching and the first day we had only 3 kids the first 2 weeks we had no more than 8 All of a sudden last week we had 12 and had a scrimmage on Sat. we did not do very well (most of our kids are first year players and our opponets have a roster of 35 with experienced kids) we have our game coming up this Sat. we have now have 14 kids. What I am saying is hang in there and make it fun for the kids and more will come. Work the fundamentals, play a half line to get used to some plays...simplify Good luck Coach.

Boom, Go to your local youth football program and see if they need help... I know we would welcome anyone interested (Fort lauderdale, FL if anyone is, let me know). Try to asst. under an experienced head coach. Go to the different web sites on the subject learn from coaches who are doing it now. saintrad has a site, dumcoach.com, there are some forums on delfi. Check out some books on the subject, coach Wades Impact was informative. I was in the same situation earlier this year so I went to my local league and told them I would like to help...needless to say they needed it and since I knew more than most of the coaches they had they made me a Headcoach of one of the teams. Hopefully your league has more experince in it. Hope this helps, Case

Coaches, I am wondering what is the numbering system that most use for calling out D line Techniques? I have seen a few different ways to do it, is there a standard? Our city would like to standardize our # systems so as kids move up through the 7 teams/age groups we do not have to reteach to kids that have learned to do it one way. Some odd fronts number different from even. I think this is the most common, please correct me if I am wrong:
edited:------- ----Y----T----G----C----G----T----X 8-967-544i-322i-101-2i23-4i45-769-8 --------------- Question: Should the inside sholder of Guard be 2i and 1 for either side of center? Basically it is from that point in tward center I am confused about.
Also do odd and even fronts normally number differently?
thanks, Case
BTW - I did a search
