The Term "Noose" for the position of the hands when catching the football...Where does it come from?\
I tried to find the answer though a search, to no avail.

Vote: .....2 games per week = 1 season every 2 months... vacations you wont miss to much. .....Get to quit 1x a season, simulate every time after that
Also What are the Game time limits? Can new players get involved during the season?

Looking for feedback, I'll try to give the quick version...... Part 2) Some time later, same organization asks me if I'd be interested in taking over older kids program...has to be my way, my people...no problem Part 3) Biggest rival finds out I'm available repeatedly, asks me to be an assistant as they admire the way we ran things, would love to see the Short punt, as they admit they had one hell of a time against it What would you do Coach, Is "part 2" no longer availible? You might want to explore "part 3" if the others don't value your advise sounds like the rivals do. Do you want to be a backs coach? Are the rivals asking you to OC or DC or STC? is that what you want? One reason we volunteer coach is because we enjoy it... if you do not think you will enjoy coaching with a certain group, then peace them out!

So all of you actually LIKE the NCAA new generation game? I tried it on XBOX360 and HATED it.. would much rather play it on PS2.. Hopefully.. they will get it right soon. I think every year the game play changes, Last year was the first version of ncaa for ps3 , hopefully this year it is better. I always like when the players move fast and fluid, as aposed to how they have moved lately

Are they labels or descriptions? Can one person be all of these? "Coaches Coach" "ball of fire" "Stern but fair" "harda$$" "players coach"
What label does this fall under--- "that's why I love this ni**a, Coach doesn't play that dumb sh!t" (see different thread) ? (by the way DCOHIO, you should make that your tag line)
I think as a coach the only label that should matter is when a kid looks back on his playing days, he labels you as a "good coach" that taught him a lot, whether he was a "harda$$" or "players coach"

The spread totally blows for youth football. You are a liar if you think it works well and you are a liar if you say you have been successful with the spread at the youth level for any length of time. bs all I can say is ...WOW What type of system do you recommend?

Brophy, I know you are a big proponent of the Darin Slacks stuff (and from the couple of tapes I have seen they are great) will you incorporate any of the R4 with this age group or do you think it is too advanced? I Also don't mean for this question to be for just Brophy. To go in more depth on it. At upper youth, lets say 12-14, is there a place for the R4? I know pass protection and time to make decisions are limited as well as the ages of the players and their ability to process information is not as advanced as a 16 to18 yr old. It certainly would help communication, and even if you remove the read function and just use the Rhythm, Rush, release as Slack does for the quick passing game, it may help your QBs. ... Maybe this needs its own thread?

Steve, I don't have any, but have seen 1-5 of the C4 and the whole R4 series, and yes they are the best videos I have seen, by far, and they will definetly help (I eventually would like to purchase the videos for myself, just worried the wife will kill me..lol). I am lucky, a player just signed up for our team who has been to Slacks camps and has all his videos ( I believe his father found out about the videos from this site also, as he frequents it often)

Our league max is 30-35(no sure what the exact # is) we have usually been half that from 12-17. I would think the optimum size would be around 22-24. This way you can run a scout team and can manage to get all the kids playing... when you get above that I think you would have a hard time getting reps in a game for everyone. The teams we play that have the high numbers usually platoon.

79, Are you a teacher? You may want to aproach the middleschool or a HS coach in your area about helping out. I don't think schools are searching the youth ranks for coaches. If you aproach and the coach or school speaks with you, and you know your stuff, they may have a spot for you. Many smaller private schools always seem to be in need of extra coaches. Just my take from reading many posts.

Wedge with 1 and 3 foot splits ? Not at the youth level No, but they can shorten the splits up to run a wedge series. The main thing is, whatever formation/s you choose figure out it's strenths and your players strenths and install and run your plays by series

Oghs, Looks like you can be strong off tackle with the FB leading and get a good counter play with your wing, also a PA off that but you wont be throwing much at that age so maybe a QB keep as a boot or keep out. Also the FB dive/ TB toss sweep/ TB toss pass could be added as a series and if you flank out Z you can add a reverse. Maybe a wedge series... ?

Coach, How old are your kids?
I am not an option caoch but this is advice I have heard: One way to coach it is to pre call the dive, keep and pitch yourself read it from the side lines... then as the Q learns call the dive or keep and have the QB read the pitch key on keep. If they are older and the Q can learn progress to the triple, but it will take reps and time away from other plays.

Hi Brophy. Can't get get this link to work (maybe I'm just being dense). I am really interested in what you have pulled together. Thinking about doing something similar with my crew. If you could email me the doc it would be great. My address is in my profile. Thanks for sharing your stuff with the rest of us. the link worked fine before but it is not working now... question.. I'm not familiar with the terms noose and stutter. it is in Day 1 for WR and RB : Catches/ Noose/ Stutter then for QB Day 2 it refers to settle & noose. Any clarification? Is it short for something that is flying over my head? Also... Brophy, are your positions pretty much set or are the kids still able to compete for different possitions then they played last year? -Case
