I don't think that he was wrong for leaving if he had the wrong job. But I think he went about it the wrong way. He told Blank that he was staying, then left with no notice, and left a letter for the players. Just a letter, no personal addressing them just a letter. I think if Nick Saban would have left last year before the season was over he would have gotten a lot less grief than when he kept publicly denying that he was taking the job.

I don't think the never quit attitude is created over night, or for that matter over the course of one offseason. I think that type of attitude is built over a few years. If you can get these seniors now to get that attitude over the course of this season, it will trickle down to the younger kids. Once that starts to happen it will grow and your program is will become successful on the scoreboard as well. I think that the never quit attitude is formed in off season work outs through competition against one and other during lifting and such. When you start getting those kids that have that look in their eye that they will run through a brick wall if you ask them to, thats when you know you got them hooked on your program.

Give me the worst pro team over the best college team any day. Remember, even the worst NFL team usually beats 2 or 3 NFL teams per year. I'll take the raiders D line and O-line vs florida's lines any day. The speed is that much better at the NFL. Thats why you don't see rookies having a huge impact on a consistent basis. Sure you have a guy like Merriman or someone like that who has a huge year, but usually there are under 10 first rounders who have a huge year in their first year. It takes time to catch up to NFL speed.

get off the pile slowly, use a stopwatch on the sidelines to milk the play clock.

20 year old coach from Eielson AFB Alaska. This year is my third year with the program second year running the JV squad. I'm in Afghanistan until may but they took the web filtering off the internet so I can talk football until they put the filtering back on. I missed this board!

20 years old in the air force. They sent me to Alaska for 3 years so I found a football team to coach at Eielson AFB. Head JV coach help out with varsity. We run a power running game out of split backs, wishbone and the I. 3-5-3 on Defense. I want to run midline this year. Going to Afgahnstan in Janurary so I'll lots of time and notebooks to fill up with plays for the season. Can't wait for August to get here. It will be my last season here and then I hope to try and play college football at a Division 3 school in my home state of Wisconsin

20 years old. Head JV coach at Eielson Air Force Base Alaska. 2nd year coaching. My philosphy this year has been to formation the other team to death. I love to overload and use the other teams lack of coaching and preperation to get my guys into positions to make the plays. I like to overload because most JV teams don't adjust to it, leaving you huge holes, and to spread the field and run the ball with fly sweeps. Also the trick plays are always money plays at the JV level.

Pretty sure you are right calande, you can have more on the line than 7, but in the NFL you are not allowed more than 7.

THE Ohio State University has a 3.0 grade point average, as a standard, for their football team. I think they were at 2.998 at the last grade deadline. I know you are thinking the students are taking basket weaving 101 or junior level: how to bake a brownie. Has anyone actually ever weaved a basket?? Its not easy, why do we always crack on the basket weavers when we talk about easy classes. And then we add in under water basket weaving. Now thats just ridiculous. (Just having some fun guys)

You can make a weight sled to pull behind when running if you have a good tech ed class. We had our clean platforms built when the old gym got torn up. We used the hardwood and the Tech Ed class made us some nice cleaning platforms.

The question is, can the UCLA vs Northwestern make the scoreboard look like an NBA score.

Div 1, you get I think it is 84 scholarships. Div 1AA you get I think 50 some scholarships D2 You get a few but not a whole lot and Div3 you get none. NAIA you give out some sort of aid determined by the team and university. I know a guy that played NAIA and starters got so much fin. aid non starters got less and so on.

I'm not saying that Calahan did a great job, but this isn't Tom Osborne's Nebraska nor will it be. yes the defense needs to get better, but the talent isn't going to just hoard to Nebraska like it used to because they have a chance to play at up and comers like Missouri or Chadron State. Unless a kid is really dedicated to the program hes not going to walk on when he can get a ride at Mizzou or Kansas. I'm not saying Nebraska can't win, but they aren't going to be the team that they were in the 80s and mid 90s because the landscape of college football has changed and no one will ever be that dominent. Even USC can't put together 12 perfect games a year.

You could signal in formation and have the play on the wrist band so you signal in whatever formation and then tell him run play 26 on the wrist band.

I'm 22 and I had to cut myself off of energy drinks because i realized that my one a day habbit was indeed a habbit and soon to be an addiction if I didn't cut the caffine out of my system. Now a 10 year old isn't going to be able to make that choice, so cheers to you guys for helping them. I agree red bull gives you wings, but 10 year olds don't need wings.

Run a completely different offense for this game. Ever wnated to try the single wing? Great game to run it in! Now I don't recommend this gameplan, but it'd sure be fun!

Wow thats a tough one. I am kind of soft when it comes to family issues like that and I probably would have let him go. I'm not one to cut a kid too quickly though, it would take misbehaving to cut a kid not a family thing like that. Family vacations need to be before football, but something like that is hard to not let a kid go to.

In alaska you have to take a test on first aid in order to gain certification to coach.

I think it is pretty evenly match with overall talent. Neither team runs the spread so you won't hear the comparison that someone can't defend the spread offense. Both offenses are pretty similar. Good running games, overachieving QBs with pretty good WRs. Defensively both are pretty strong. Ohio State dominated Michigan last time out, LSU squeaked by a good Tenn team in the SEC champ game. I don't know who will win, i hope it will be Ohio State becasue I don't like LSU much, this is about the only time I'll ever cheer for ohio State because I don't like them either. I like Tressel, hate the football team.

I think that if you keep the practices to about 1:45 with a 30 minute break inbetween its good time efficiency. You don't need to stretch before that second practice, just a 5 minute agility period. I'd suggest 7-845 then 915-11. Get the kids out of there before noon and maybe lift from 11-12 or some film afterwards.

We run inside and outside zone and our formation and play names are some of the easiest I've seen. Pro formation is just Right or Left, TE goes to the call. If you want to set the fullback to the strength or away from the strength just add minus or plus, So offset to the TE would be Right Plus and then it goes from there. Every formation starts with a R or L to designate strength. Inside zone is 22, or 23, outside zone is 28 or 29, So if we want to run pro formation with an offset fullback it would be Right Plus 22 or on the play card it looks like R + 22, four charectors long, simple to me. You want some more formation names and play calls msg me and I'll get ya some stuff.

I think that if Troy Smith can play in the NFL so can Daniel. I'm not saying Smith is a starter, I'm just saying, if he makes a roster, so can Daniel.
