um...the guy has covered receivers going out for passes...the plays dont resemble dw plays either , but yes, the dw system we employ sometimes uses 8 and even 9 men on the line of scrimmage.

The one guy said that would be an illegal formation. Why would it be illegal? If the inside TE goes out for a pass, that would be illegal, right, because he is covered up, by why wouldn't you be able to run the ball out of this formation?

You can have MORE than 7 on the los, but AT LEAST seven is required...I think the NFL has changed their rule to limit the line to 7 now right? anyone know for sure?

Didn't mean the actual plays they drew up. Sorry. I just found it amusing that some fans (especially UT ones) that were trying to come up with a creative/innovative offense would draw up what is virtually the DW. Not that I don't like the DW, don't get me wrong. But if they actually rolled that out on the field the coaches would get roasted!

Pretty sure you are right calande, you can have more on the line than 7, but in the NFL you are not allowed more than 7.

Steve: Until I see a rule cite, this language from nfl.com appears to be definitive: "1. Offensive team must have at least seven players on line."
