wrong again my friend. both of those jobs I lost as HC, lost my teaching job too. They are not tied together, but they are. here, 1 may be supplemental coaching per-say, but when you get hired to the big dog chair, that teaching job goes with it. besides that, NOBODY is getting rich off a coaches supplement. unless your in South carolina, some georgia and texas. where its not just HS football. not for 100k. you better win or your out!
a very well known fla coach went to valdosta ga for 3 seasons. made 100k plus, lived in a house for free, drove a local dealerships truck for free, etc, etc, went to finals in big boy class, lost. made semis and lost the next year, made semis next year and,,,,,was fired.... its not just high school football, maybe in some places.

as much as I can agree with just about everything your saying,,,the part that sticks out is the "its just high school football". let me tell ya, its not just high school football. Where I am at, winning is not only a focus, if you dont win and produce on the field in 3 years, you wont make it to year 4. At any school here. Ive been let go at a couple places as the HC. 1 for having a coach follow a player to my school (7 months after the kid left). the school they both left from, we beat the snot out of them and the AD wanted to be a prick and turned us in for.....not filling out the proper form that would allow a coach to follow a kid to a program(kid acutally was deemed homeless family as they got kicked out of their house, which made everyone look stupid for turning us in). state violation, we had to forfiet our 3 wins, fine paid by me, county was upset because it was 3 violations by school(in other sports and football) in 3 years. I was scapegoat. oh, the wins thing. started 0-2 that year then won 3 straight, because of this kid(rolls eyes).... another school I was let go at, complete doormat---75 wins in 30 years!!!----2-8, 1-9, 0-10 3 years prior to me taking over, 2-8, 3-7, 1-9 and I was fired. won more games in 3 years than the school had done in close to 5, but it wasnt enough! its not just high school football for some admin, its college like thinking, if it aint working fire them and start over. have displaced my family several times for jobs its not just high school football, its life for some coaches. rant over. Reading this, I noticed I have some similar issues (constantly thinking about work, not comfortable relaxing, sh!tty sleep, etc.) How do you take care of yourself, stay balanced, and keep some things in perspective? Here is the article if anyone is interesting in reading it: thelab.bleacherreport.com/i-m-not-the-lone-wolf/I constantly think about work and get bored relaxing. You know they say some sharks need to keep moving to stay alive, well thats me- but its fun for me and I don't let it stress me out or have trouble sleeping. I think there are a couple things that help me out: 1) I realize less is more in regards to on the field success. I know some guys who install a new O/D each week, so they work themselves to death coming up with it and installing it. Part of it is they think they need it to win, part of it is they need to stay busy and feel the need to implement their work immediately; so they go bonkers doing this stuff weekly and many of them have health issues. I don't buy into the ESPN hype of genius play callers schemes and coaches. Plays don't win games, players do; my teams win because we are sound in techniques work hard to make better athletes and DO WHAT WE DO. 2) Stay regimented: make lunch at this time, work out at this time, go to sleep at this time. Stay true to the schedule and you will keep healthier and worry less. 3) and this is the big one....remember its just HS football; even if you lose games the sun will still come up tomorrow. There was a post here a couple weeks back written by a middle school coach, in which a number of people wrote to the coach to relax 'its just MS football'; well how much more serious is it in HS? The truth is, its not much. My job is to utilize this wonderful game to make hard working, well adjusted, competitive, strong young men for the future; the primary mean is by having them compete for victories. Am I upset if I lose games, absolutely- but I understand I have a bigger task at hand, and I cant do that job if I am giving myself a heart attack.

Another thing to consider is that beer is basically liquid bread. In many cultures throughout history the noon day meal was a healthy serving of malted beverage or liberal dose of distilled spirits. Plus there is a good amount of the recovery stuff you look for in a post work out shake in beer. The only thing that it lacks is vitamin C and fiber. Soooo, that being said you could bring home a 6 pack every night, take some cilium fiber and chase it with a shot of orange juice and you'll be good to go. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS!!!!! many an nights I have done this same thing, except no OJ. lmfao

doesnt hurt they are private, play in public division that doesnt meet any real opponent until final 4 of state finals. oh and they recruit all the good jax kids from any and all small or big public school. he is a good coach, just sayin everything isnt as it seems because its not fair game in fla for public and private leagues.... If you look at them lately...Trinity is getting all the "Good kids form Jax". Go watch Bolles practice and work their kids and get back to me. Their kids are sound on everything they do. If you get down to brass tax now a days Raines has more kids recruited to play then Bolles. Or how about Ribault and their 6 transfers from First Coast. The Bolles Staff is a good coaching staff. Look at what his peers think about him. coach, in no way am I saying Coach Rogers isnt top notch, but its easy to win when you get the best kids. kids are going to those other schools because they want to play in and offense that you see on saturdays. not the ancient, most adaptable, dynamic and simple to execute hard to stop offense that is the wing t. they do a fantastic job of running it, yearly. which is why they are in title game after title game. I 100% agree with what your saying. heres a question for ya, and all these posters can any of these guys go to school A that hasnt won games in years and still have success? its easy to coach athletes. jimmies n joes make the program go. x n os make up very little. we can scheme with the best of em, but if my best player is 6'0 185 lbs plays all 4 specials, inside linebacker and tailback. and you have 20 of him. its not scheme. some of the best coaching I have ever done was on a 3-7 team a few years back and a 4-6 team about 10 year ago. maximized our potential. did everything we could to get the most out of our kids. how many of us are out there, but dont get recognized as the good/average/best in state because we never won squat?? just sayin.

That guy is a genius compared to the LB clinic I sat through put on by Darryl Talley...waste of money and time... Duece I never seem to learn much from the pro guys at clinics. It's funny how football innovation is backwards compared to most other things. A lot of things trickle upwards from HS to College to Pro. You'd think it'd be the other way around. Nothing against the pro guys, they obviously know their stuff, but I can't think of a time I sat in on a NFL guys clinic and had my mind blown. When I heard Bruce Cobleigh speak at a clinic this year I took like 15 pages of notes. pro guys that are former players, normally were so freaking athletic in high school that it was easy to beat_______ at whatever they did. college guy alot of the times are scared to give away pure trade secrets, so its vague and vanilla. high school guy knows jimmies n joes is what makes his team go, x and o mean a little, so he gives it all away and says, you still got to beat us with your lesser talent. now the 1 qb guy I would listen too everytime he spoke, DS. heard him 2 weekends in a row, was exactly the same thing, but DAM it was and still is good. top notch speaker, great drills and will give you everything he has.

keep it simple. not fancy tags on routes or lots of intricate blocking schemes. zone, power, counter, jet. throw a reverse in too for fun! pass, simple slant hitch fade smash maybe a ncaa route to beat some coverage. defense 4-3 cover 2. man under. probably cant blitz either, so thats simple. practice plan HC know what its like so let them work! 15 min of indy 15 min of install some 7 on 7 some inside run rep specials team done
i coached one last fall and had blast! all the coaches were too head coaches and they lvoed the pace I wanted to go at, fast fast fast. get in and out in 1.5 and go home. kids are smart in all star game they will pick it up.

It is a ton of running, but I relate it to a game. Not every play is 70 yds or 30 or 50 etc. It's 5 one time and the next is 40. Around 125 plays a game, maybe more maybe not. The day we do 4th qtr, it's all we do. And normally they have Friday thru Monday off. Always right before fall camp starts. It's a test of testicular fortitude and mental toughness.

we do whats called 4 quarters. 1st quarter is a series of sprints from 5 to 40 yards. each one varies. for a total of 26 sprints. 1 guy jumps offsides, leaves late, doesnt sprint, doesnt cross line, etc. everyone goes back. 2nd quarter is repeat 1st quarter and then shorter sprints 5-25 yards. for 22 sprints. 3rd quarter is 1st and 2nd then 1st again 4th is 1,2,1,2. we do this 2 thursdays(our last day of week) in june, then the last 2 thursdays in july before camp. no times, its gut check for everyone. you will see the leadership rise to the top and the true a holes as well when someone jumps and you repeat a sprint after sprint #84. happens yearly and the kids know its tough, but worth it. dont attend on 4th quarter day, you dont get your equipment. plus day 1 of fall practice you run 16 110s to practice and will get the bottom of the barrel on pads, pants, etc... works every year.

buried the dead. took old vhs(wth are those? lol) old uniforms, old pictures and had our 1st fall practice session at midnight of the first day. as the clock struck 12 and we were into a new season, I had seniors dig a whole and we buried the dead. weight room attitude. nuff said, we now lift and run after practice. they understand now how important it is. doing it after practice may seem like its worthless because of how tired they are, but its creating a toughness we need. a coat of paint in the wt room, locker rooms have done wonders. changed the logo to something better painted helmets from red to matte black. they love that part. community service, stadium clean up. have done a lot in 1 year....
