anyone have a good controlled scrimmage format you follow? I have one that I have used for years, but am curious to the ideas of the board.

I like both sides start off with 10 plays, then after go down and distance. That way you get a little of both.

1. N-20 yd line (coming out) 8 plays-1 vs 1 2. S-20 6 plays 2 vs 2 3. n-40 8 plays 1 vs 1 4. s-40 6 plays 2 vs 2 5. Break 6. kick off 1 time through 7. kick return 1 time through 8. Redzone 9. N-20-6 plays 1 vs 1 10. S-20-4 plays 2 vs 2 11. N-10-1st and goal 1 vs 1 12. S-10 1st and goal 2 vs 2 13. Break 14. Ball on 20 coming out, live game, 15 min running clock, no coaches on field
here is the tenative plan,

3 series of 10 plays from the 40 going in. 2 drives from your own 20
2 series of 10 with jvs/frosh 1 drive each/coaches in the huddle

Each team gets 2 sets of 10 and 10s....so, 20 on both sides.
Then, two sets of D&D...could be that one team takes one to the house on the 5th play on one drive and the other has a 20 play drive, doesn't matter.
Then the young guys...a set of 10 and 10, then an 8 and 8 or however much time is left.
