That is one thing I love about Hudl, I upload our video without audio, that way don't have to worry about if coaches are near camera and when trading for opponent scout can here calls, or what coaches say or whatever injured kid is filming says.

In Louisville, KY we wear them, have been at tourneys where out of state teams didn't have them and had to go without for a game. We were told at the time that their home state didn't allow helmet use during that time. We quit going to the big tourneys at Univeristy of Louisville & Kentucky and go to smaller ones at other high schools, so don't see out of state schools anymore except for teams from just across the river in Southern Indiana.

People still use separate hip, butt, and thigh pads?? Really? Football will always be a place for old school hold outs i thnk we we moved to the built in pads over 10 years ago

The pads are thinner but they are often a hex material and in the case of the hip and tail pads they stay in place, they are more flexible and lighter and seem to work better than old school pads. We use the ones with hip tail and thigh and put knee pads in the pants.

Check the warranty on those rejects. If only 3 years old your may be able to get them replaced under warranty. We send in about 120 helmets per year and get 2-4 rejected per year that isn't from age. One was from deep gouges, usually it is from cracks aroud. The ear holes, and side clamps for face mask

$1500 Helmets??? I had a hard time getting $350 Riddells and $300 Xeniths after the last coach splurged and spent $167/helmet. For $1500 what type of guarantee do you have that the concussions would be reduced? I had two concussions this season, and both kids were wearing Xenith Epics. You pay $300 for Xeniths? We get X2E for for $180 and Epic for $210, both with face mask included. our school district has 20 football playing public schools and we have bid list with group buying power

We had 19 seniors this year, several were great players including two that made all state teams, but some that barely saw the field. Our tradition, we give out lots of awards, different coaches give out awards and talk a little about each recipient. Then the head coach talks about each senior and calls them up, they get a senior gift from school of large collage poster individualized for each senior, a gift bag from booster club, etc. In the past with previous and current head coaches they would talk a few minutes about each kid and some were easy to talk about some harder, the guys that never played speech sound the same and hard to make it not be condescending. So this year our head coach mixed it up and while he did talk about each kid he changed it up and picked something that he would remember or miss about that kid, he intended it to be a roast but it ended up being complimentary for each and every guy. My favorite was for an undersized corner that for a few years mostly played special teams and backup but started this year and at times had trouble with big physical receivers but held his own, still shut down the edge, and got a few picks, made some key plays, and although he talked a lot of trash was a decent guy. He got the Stephen A Smith award, fittingly. He has an opinion on everything and whenever we have free time he loves to debate with people about almost anything. It was well received, took about the same amount of time as before but it no longer sounded like he had favorites and didn't single out stars nor role players.

We are using Hudl Sideline, it was buggy at first, mostly due to me and other coaches no t understanding how to set it up right, I had the endzone routers mounted on a leg instead of the vertical pole and it was shooting the signal up into the sky not at the box, resulting in a pixelated signal after a few plays, our 2nd game was at a huge local stadium with a tall box and it the Pressbox router was pointed straight out, fixed it by pointing down a little. my other issue was trying to use cheap thin HDMI cables, kept losing signal. Switched to a heavy duty one from Monoprice and it has worked fine. Other issue we encountered was press boxes with glass windows, caused a signal issue, biggest thing is getting it set up early and testing the signal at new places.

It only counts as a fumble and turnover if you lose possession. If receiving team keeps possession do not enter as a fumble

Actually, I commend them for their handling of this. They owned up to it and are taking care of the situation. I already checked all our serial numbers and we weren't affected. Other school in our district are and Xenith is sending out helmets quickly to take care of it.

Spray painting them will void your warranty, and look like garbage. When I used to do semipro we had guys try to do it all the time.

Our photographer has been doing the individual green screen and combining for a few years, we make a day of it, have kids all show up and start taking pics by grade, do senior shots, etc, have a make up day later and can still be in team picture. We then have a big family cookout, all the layers and coaches and their families with potluck for sides and desserts and coaches and parents grill up a bunch of burgers, dogs, pork chops, brats, grilled chicken. Whole process is pretty painless and usually a fun day as long as weather is decent.

With these you save time, no delay for refilling those water bottles. just have to remember to charge them and the nozzles break occasionally but can get compatible ones from Home Depot or Lowes

For us HC 30, QB 33, RB 32, OL 68, WR 26, Def Coord 50, DL 32, DB 32, LB 34, FR 33, FR 24, FR 33. Then me on Stats, Hudl upload, and Equipment 43. This whole staff except the WR coach and LB coach and 1 FR coach were together under previous HC who resigned 2 years ago at 42, HC was youngest varsity coach but at time one of only two remaining teachers on staff in building. He deserved it, works hard went 7-5 last year in his first season, this year we dropped from 6a to 5a and are 9-1 with playoffs starting next weekend.

Only counts for scoring, no offensive or defensive stats, it's not a play from scrimmage it is a "try"

Was going to type a long response but it is better explained here and this is technically NCAA but almost everything applies to NFHS as well. fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/Stats_Manuals/Football/2015ez.pdf See section 13 for fumbles , there are several examples regarding who recovers, advances the fumble etc. This is a good resource for all stats related questions.

Funny story about scissor lifts, starts that after the head coach was fired at one high school, the defensive staff along with me doing stats and equipment, and our video kid who had graduated a few years prior but still filmed every game all joined with another school. The new staff embraced us, but the head coach was puzzled that Rickey the film kid wouldn't raise the scissor lift very high when filming games. The school has a low press box that faces into the sun, so we filmed sideline shot for both teams in a scissor lift behind the visitor stands. The 2nd or 3rd game the visiting film guy kept rocking the lift, probably because he saw it freaked Rickey out. So the next game Rickey barely had the lift over the stands, when the visitors had a good play the fans were in the video. The next week the head coach is talking to Rickey about how it was perfectly safe and nothing would happen, but ironically it was the same week the kid died filming at Notre Dame. The head coach somehow missed it and came in and asked us if Rickey was telling the truth. That coach retired and went into administration after the season, and Rickey left us to go film for Montana State. Rickey wasn't scared of press boxes or heights, but that rocking scissor lift terrified him. He filmed on top of the Glass Bowl press box in Toledo for a semipro game, and even on scaffolding for practice at Montana State.

Some of the bulk machines paint in 3 directions at once not just straight down, (from both sides angled in and straight down) not only is paint cheaper, but lines stand out much better with the multi directional machine. And the wand makes hashes and numbers and logos much easier. At previous school had the bulk machine, and a groundskeeper that kept it running. Current school has the machine that hasn't worked in forever and we use aerosol, have a good striker and a couple hand wands, but takes forever and not as clear as bulk.
