Little back ground for this story......At my last school, I am the head Jr. High coach. Our High school coach brings his 3rd grade son to record the game....all in all he did a really good job. Our film was on a DVD and Friday we sit down to watch the game with the team. I had just got the film from the HS coach and sit down with our team to watch it.
Several clips you hear the HS coach saying make sure to get that on film, with the entire team sitting there a few clips into the game the play is over and rather than skipping to the next clip it starts to scroll down and zoom in on their male cheer leader. The entire football team lost it.
3 years ago, we are in a heated in town rivalry game, my wife is recording we are up 12-8 with time winding down no timeouts they only have time for 1 play and 70 yards in front of them.....their quarterback breaks 7 tackles on the way to score the go ahead touchdown. the camera points up into the air great picture of the lights at the stadium and you hear my wife yelling(more squealing) OH no, OH no, somebody get him! Oh my God what just happened?
This year my daughter is recording our 7th grade jamboree, the opposing team is pretty good, in their 10 plays they scored 4 times from the 40 yard line. On the third one, the my daughter starts doing commentary as she only got the beginning of the play on film...as the camera sits still facing the 40 yard line not moving.
The quarterback keeps it around the end....again, we miss another tackle...again, TOUCHDOWN! Yay!(sarcastically)
Maybe I shouldn't have but I played that clip a few times for the guys to watch and listen to. Best part for me was how mad she was after the game and told me not to listen to it she may have used inappropriate language

A couple years ago the guy that usually films couldn't make it, last minute there was a scramble to get somebody to film the game so I volunteered. Our quarterback was throwing dimes but they were going right through our receivers' hands, bouncing off their chests, bouncing off their facemasks, just an incredibly bad display of football. The longer the game went on the more frustrating it became. At one point I said to myself but aloud, "Jeez, these kids couldn't catch crabs on spring break in Tijuana." It was a road game and we didn't get home until about 12:30 and then had to be back at school at 8:00 to watch the film with the team. Nobody had time to watch the film so it was broadcast to the whole team. They all laughed but I felt kinda bad about it.
We had a couple jv players video one of the varsity games and there was audio of them talking about all the unspeakable things they'd like to do to one of the coaches daughters, that didn't go over well.

At one point he zooms in on a young lady who is laying on her stomach in row one of the bleachers... and then zooms in tighter on her backside.... then giggles.... Coaches all laugh and move on as we are all mature an respectable men... Monday comes and we are showing the film... Kids all die laughing and then you hear a "OH SH!TTTT.... Coach, That is my sister!!!!!" Dudes sister dated a player at the other school so she was there watching - she did not realize everyone else was watching her haha... OC just said, "oh, wow...OK.... so check out this corner's leverage on the next play...." he just had to move on.... |

I was handling the video when I first got started. Had a dad doing video for an away game. After the game I get the camera, transfer to DVD, all that good stuff, but never watched the video. Come Saturday morning session team is watching video in one of the lecture halls and I'm out of the meeting, running errand or something. I come back and I hear laughter start up just as I'm getting to the door. I open the door and the place erupts.
I'm bewildered until I look at the screen. The dad had been on top of the pressbox and after a play had followed a young lady coming from his right, past/under the pressbox, and finally take a seat. But, when she got closer and closer he had zoomed in until only her breasts were visible, filled the screen. And this was of course a hot day and she was dressed accordingly. The laughter at my expense is that they thought I had been doing the video work so the thought I had done the zooming in.

Not at a school I was at but our HC now and several assistants (all really good friends of mine so it's legit story) are coaching at an inner city school. No one to film so they send an injured kid up to do it. Watching with the team when the obligatory follow the girl and zoom in on her booty shot comes up. Kids are laughing making comments. From the back of the room "You pedophlic (actual word that was used) mother f**ker that my sister!!!!!" As another player jumped over three rows of desks and attacked the kid who filmed and coaches had to break up the fight. |

We had a teacher film one of our games but she was so baked she didn't realize she was filming in reverse. She was turning the camera off during the plays and recording everything else. So we sit down the next day to watch film and we heard a lot of extra curriculars that she was involved in. We heard it all. From her buying weed from a student to setting up a "special" meeting with a student and his girlfriend, in the teachers defense the student was 19 and his girlfriend was 18 so it would have been legal lol. Needless to say the super sent her home early for the year the following Monday.

Never load the film on Hudl with Audio!!! I learned this lesson the hard way. My DC was up in the booth near the camera man and he was using some very colorful language to describe the play of our QB while we were on offense. Needless to say, dad watched the film and hear what he said. I had to sit in the principal's office for 2 days straight to get this all sorted out. DO NOT LOAD YOUR FILM WITH AUDIO!!!

I've heard stories of VHS days of people meeting in far distances only to get back to the office and find some pretty hard core, graphic, videos. And no, I'm not talking about football Coaches in college would splice a few clips of porn to the end of the VHS tapes they'd share. Not anything more than a second or two, but enough of a moan to wake up the kids in the back row |

We got a film like that a few years ago. The really sad part was it was a DVD. So they deliberately made sure to put in on there. When we showed up to the game the coach was laughing his butt off at the weird looks we was giving him. He was a real good guy and did it just for the laughs. We became good friends afterwards. Lol

When I was in college the injured kids filmed practice. We never watched film with audio and we were all stupid and thought there was no audio. A couple guys were up there one day filming practice. The next day during film meetings the sound was on when the film started and the audio was on. Most of us thought it was odd. The two that filmed knew they effed up because their jaws dropped as soon as the sound started. Our DC just went about the meeting like normal with the sound pretty high. About the third or fourth play the kids started talking all kinds of mess about our DC. They were talking about he was a doucheebag, how he was terrible at his job, how he thought he was tough and they would like to knock him out. He was a pretty big dude and they were crapping their pants by the end of the meeting. Our DC never broke away from the normal film session routine. Everyone in the room but the two kids and the DC were doing our best not to lose it. Our DC never said anything either. It was awesome and awkward at the same time. I don't know if there was ever anything said in private to the s-talkers but two kids were never the same after that.

We couldn't figure out why absolutely no one was fooled until we watched the film and heard our camera guy say, in full earshot of their coaches on top of the pressbox, "Ya'll wait 'til you see this trick they fixing to run on ya'll"

I have a story about something that WASN'T heard:
His freshman year in college my son did video for the football team. During games he, of course, was in a perch high above the field alone with the other team's video guy. With nobody else to talk to, the guys would chat it up like any other fans. That meant that, like normal fans, they would loudly criticize the play calling. In his first game that criticism involved asking about the HC, "Jesus Micky, what the phuk was that chit?".
Imagine his embarrassment, then, when the assistant coach in charge of video called him aside and told him that the sound had been on. Fortunately, the assistant thought it was funny (He was a defensive guy so he may have had the same thought) and had my son recopy the video with no sound. That spared him from the experience of having the HC explain the call. From then on my son was careful to make sure that the sound was off.

When I was just starting out in coaching, we would as a staff go to watch an opponent whenever we had the chance, and even though we were going to get the film when we did the exchange, our head coach always wanted us to film. Being the youngest guy on the staff, I was always assigned to do the filming.
One day we went to film our opening opponent on a Saturday afternoon game. It just so happens that a very attractive female meteorologist from the local ABC affiliate was at the game. One of the other assistants pointed her out to me so I made sure in between plays I got plenty of good zoomed in shots of her, including her chest and her other "assets."
The team watched the film the following Monday, and when I got to practice, the Head Coach told me "You're never filming another game for me again, we'll just wait for their copy when we trade. One minute I'm watching their offense and the next thing you know (female meterologist's) tits and ass are splashed across the screen."

On a film exchange a few years ago the other team's managers (female) were talking about a party and what not. Their conversation was interrupted between plays, but it as easy to tell they were talking about their sexual encounters that night. Fortunately, we as coaches only heard it and made sure the sound was off when we watched the film with players.

A few years ago, a school hired a new head coach.
He was bad at his job. They were a bad school with a bad team and bad support.
We played them week 3.
Got the film exchange, and like everything about them, it's bad as well. Some plays are zoomed in too far, pulled out too wide. It's just bad film.
But they line up yo punt it, which they do a lot. And we only count 10 guys. We figure a guy on the sidelines got cropped out. Next punt, still 10. Full view. Next punt, 10. Next punt, 10. Every punt that week had 10. And there were a lot of them.
Next game, they're still bad, and they still have 10 on their numerous punts.
So we go through all the film of their punts, and we are correct. It's 10 every time. Lined up the same way, almost like he planned it that way.
When we play them, we win easily as expected. And, as expected, they had 10 on punt every single time.
After the game, our HC asks him why he only punts with 10. And, he looks baffled, shocked, surprised, mind blown.
He sent our coach an email a few days later to say that he copied all of his playbook stuff at once, and apparently the 11th person got cropped out and no one noticed.
So, they were lining it up just like it was drawn up.

My first year at what will soon be my former job, I go to trade film with our opponent from week 4. HC and I had talked and agreed to meet at a place halfway between at 9am. I get there 850ish, no one there. By 930 I was a little worried. Finally get a hold of the guy by 1015ish and the HC says "That {censored} didn't show up?!?" Apparently his assistant just didn't wake up to trade. By 11 I finally get the film
Go back to the school and start watching it. Shockingly, they're terrible. About the 3rd Qrtr of their beat down you hear a lone voice screaming "Defense! Defense!(clap clap)". After about 5 times of doing that no one is joining this brave soul. They give up a TD and it stops. Next defensive series you hear it again. Play gets toward one of the endzones and you finally get a glimpse of who this defensive enthusiast is- it's their HC. Just leading cheers away while one of his assistants chats with someone over the fence. I quit watching the film of them and started prepping for week 5.
Couple years later, we go to scout this same school- new HC- and another conference rival on a Saturday afternoon. In the south endzone their student section, from the back of their pick up trucks, start the cheer of "Win or lose, we still booze!!"

Watching scout film back in the day before video quality was that good. A kid for the team we were scouting broke away on an inside run and was gone and then all of the sudden falls down. Looked like a classic sniper job. It was only after rewatching it several times did we see a black dog streak onto the field and run right into the ball carrier.
Oh and the field had a giant tomahawk on it with big drops of blood dripping off of the blade.
