I know this belongs in the equipment section but I'm hoping it can be left here for a bit so it can get more views and discussion.
Do matte helmets require a different type of decal material? We changed our helmets colours to a gunmetal grey look and are sourcing new helmet decals. The samples we got from our supplier are too reflective where you can see the excess material through the blanks areas in the design.

No. Not to my knowledge. We ordered the same ones every time and its been great. But I will say that chrome logos on matte helmets is dope, clean, fresh. Whatever adjective you want to use.

we have been matte for about 5 years and we use Riddell stickers...
We get a chrome looking sticker and it looks great
The only thing with matte finish is the stickers will sometimes pull the paint off...

It happens to ours as well, especially late in the year when that sticker has been sitting on the helmet for a few months.

I will second what everyone is saying about going with a chrome decal. We have a matte dark grey helmet with a chrome red decal.

I like the look of chrome decals on matte helmets, but matte decals look good too.
I haven't noticed that our matte helmets chip any more than glossy paint.
I like die cut decals on matte. I don't like the extra transparent part of the decal on matte helmets because it stands out and shines too much.

No. We changed our helmets last season to matte black with a high gloss Vegas gold Trojan decal. The high gloss decals are a beautiful thing in a matte helmet.

a school who we always 7on7 with in the summer had the best helmets i have ever seen last year
a 3 color matte helmet (theyre navy and vegas gold colors)
bottom part of helmet matte white then a gold stripe then matte navy blue
they had their logo, in the shiniest, most metallic looking sticker i have ever seen
it REALLY popped off of the matte
i loved it
