Hey all, I just tried to spray paint a face mask to put on our new helmets. We are going from white Facemasks to gold Facemasks. Just putting the mask back onto the helmet made the paint peel a bit but I didn't use any sealer. I did one helmet just to show my guys what it would look like. My question is what should I use to seal the paint so it won't come off from contact in a game? Anyone have experience with this? I appreciate your input. Thanks guys!

In my experience spray paint is going to chip off a face mask no matter what. You have to send them off the be dipped for any real lasting results.

Spray painting them will void your warranty, and look like garbage. When I used to do semipro we had guys try to do it all the time.

You should never, ever spray paint a helmet or mask. This should only be done by qualified reconditioners. It's a bit late to do a swap like this now. Stop before you ruin your masks and or helmets and create a big problem for yourself.

Already had our helmets repainted by a certified reconditioner and they turned out great. We have both white and black facemasks and not enough for a full set of either of them so I really have no choice unless we want to all look different. I've already decided we are doing it so instead of trying to talk me out of it I would like to know the most optimal way to do it with the least chipping. We will send them in to be dipped next year when we have more time. Thanks.

The warranty of liability would be more important to me than "look(ing) different" for one season.
Can you give all the white to Varsity and black to JV, or vice versa?
Sorry, no advice on spray painting them. Never heard of it before.

The OL and DL could be in black face masks, and the rest of the team in white. There are still 2 different colors, but at least there would be a clear line of who is who.

idk, I would rather look different than have my helmets void their warranty, kid gets a concussion you wont have the manufacture to back you, go with d in black and o with the other color,
