This Article was on fox sports this morning msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/10381790/Is-it-time-to-retire-the-football-helmet?gt1=39002What are your thoughts? Hits have become harder and harder as the helmet has evolved to protect over the years, and players do play different with it, but the helmet has also become footballs "image" or icon ingrained in its history. Basically has become part of the game. I could never see the NFL taking it away. Because they would worry they would lose viewers.

I think at 100 you have access to the forms and other areas... but not the playbook section. As I understand it the playbook section was taken down because huey was getting grief for some of the copyrighted material people would post. Now it is only availible to contributors and copyrighted material has been taken down. I believe contributers donate money to help keep the site running.

OJW, I think that your rocket based wing-T would work fine. Limit the plays and work fundamentals...

I understand, I just would like to have a good season. I'm 1-19 as an HC, you begin to wonder how smart the man in the mirror is after 1 win in 2 seasons. Your teams played better overall this season from last season... Can you improve next season? You are headed in the right direction. Identify somethings that will help your team to improve this offseason and get to work. [glow=red,2,300]As of right now, to start next season, you are 0-0. [/glow]

Why are people getting caught up in that fact this is off season football? He has some kids that want to do it. If they want to play spring football so be it. They can pick if they want to play other sports. It is not like the guy is trying to get his players to play year round. They are not trying to specialize anyone. I agree... and it does sound like a blast to coach.

Hey Guys! I got one of those as well. I got called in because our principal thought our kids where running onto the field to fight! It was a change of possession. She didn't know it. So I got calle din the office and I had to write up our Discipline Protocol. I wrote, and she kept asking me, how many times does a team change possession in football? LOL. She also said You don't have control of the team. The writing is on the wall! Thats just crazy

If a bootster buys the equipment and donates the equipment, not the money for the equipment. Would this even qualify as school money spent on a sport?

I think if you are trying to find a staff that care about football, not the strippend and puts in the time to be a good coach. Saying "OK your not being paid anymore for your services, whos staying?" is not a good way to go about it. You may lose good coaches that take it as a slap in the face. They may be willing to coach for free, but not somewhere they were being paid to do it before. IF you want to gather a good staff interview them check up with previous employers/coaches and find out about there work ethic. One year contracts to start out... if you feel they don't tow the line don't ask them back. Try someone else, eventually you will have a hard working staff.
If you do it the I'm taking the strippends away method you may end up with no staff.

Man, you can't do that to us. I can't wait to hear what is next. Simple question, why isn't the custodial staff in charge of cleaning the shower? Aren't they the ones that have access to the cleaning supplies? As well as the costodial staff what about the maintanance staff... I agree you cant leave us hanging

What are his demands? Uncluter your desk? Ask him send the $100 dollar fine threat to you with those demands in an E-mail or written format along with his request for a practice plan. You make one anyway, so send it to him in an E-mail and cc the Athletic director
Make sure stuff gets put away promply ( you could put the guys who want power in charge of that.) and keep documentation of all interactions with this guy.

What the heck kind of field are they playing on it looks horrible on my TV! I would think either of these teams would put 100 on us in a half. It is the local stadium here in Fort Lauderdale... a lot of games get played on it, at least two to three a week... with all the rain in S. florida it gets torn up. Right before the Aquinas-Brynes game deerfield beach played. It was a double header. Also FAU plays there too. St. Thomas normal field is field turf. It was a good game lots of big plays... and SPEED. It was probably the biggest game in Broward County ever. There must have been 15,000 there. This may not be a lot for the Texas crowd, but for Broward it felt like a college game. A ton of fun to see. How do you guys feel about HS from different states playing? Do you think its good for the game? One thing it does bring is Money, sponserships and such... some times those things can be negative

Milk the clock and shorten the game, try and keep it close. If its close in the 4th quarter you may have a chance to win.

You are not able to add those additional 7 youth teams under the high school account. When a high school purchases Hudl for football - they are able to create teams for Varsity, JV, and Freshmen if they want, but aren't able to create additional teams for all of the youth teams in the city. If you sign up for 6 or more youth teams together, the price does drop from $250/team/year to $200. One of the challenges for us is the variety in the number of teams in each city. We want to always provide a premium experience for our youth coaches and players and aren't able to do that if the high school can sign up at $800 for Hudl-Silver and add a large number of youth teams at the same time for free. I'm confident that your coaches/players/parents are going to get great value out of the $200 youth package if you choose to sign up. Would be glad to talk to you about the system in more depth if you are interested - 402-817-0060 or sales@hudl.com. I don't think that was the question he was asking. I believe he was trying to ask if his youth program could pay the extra money to purchase the full high school version of the package and be able to put all 7 youth teams on it (similar to how the high schools put up multple sports and/or multiple levels - Varsity, JV, Frosh, etc), and then not be subject to the youth version limitations? I read it that he was inquiring about paying more money for the full product, not piggybacking on the HS's account for free. Coach Doug you are correct, that was not the question I was asking. I was inquiring about the full product, purchased by the youth organization itself. I could call and ask, but since you are posting on a public forum I thought, this question may be good info for all the coaches reading. Most youth programs have multipule teams, so if all the teams/age groups in the program/city were to purchase the product for $200 a team. Many would be paying more then the High school and getting less. Example: our city has 7 teams peewee up to Unlimited. at the discounted rate thats $1400, $600 more then a highschool would have to pay, to have Football V, JV, & Fresh -Basketball Boys V & JV, Girls V & JV, wrestleing, ect... the Youth version has less features so in esssence a city could be paying more and getting less. This is why I asked if a youth program could purchase a full version for the $800 instead of the individual team for $250. On another note if you were to take down the game and then put it back up, would you then have to re-enter all the info like down and distance, yardline...ect?

Jimmy Johnson could have made that list if Parcells is on it.

They don't realize that it's the linemen that really win the football games, I guess I'm lucky in that regard. OJW It may be that you make everyone play at least a year at o-line, I think you may be making your own luck, and it pays off.

We usually get 1 tape of our game and the opponents.... some coaches trade so you might get 1-3 games of your next opponent for scouting. Unless the teams scratch the DVD purposely...which happens
Question for hudl: If a city were to purchase the High school version could we use it for all 7 age group teams? like the high schools can use for multiple sports?

Kinkos will be three to four times the price of a print shop (but if you need it fast Kinkos is your place)... once you get it together call a few print shops for quotes.

Mcgann, There is a youth section on the board. Also what type of Defenses will you see? what type of kids do you have? There are many free playbooks out there. the DC-wing-T on the dumcoach site is highly customizeable (and a team from canada has edited it for canuck rules...with film). Ted Seay has a few play books a wing T, an I-wing among others, and there is always cisars single wing or the doublw wings out there. Many posters on the site have a link at the bottom of their posts, that will take you too some of the playbooks they have produced or collected. For that age group keep the play book small.

Yeah they bring a lot of players back, but vs LSU it showed what happens when you give good athletes time to prepare. I love Paul Johnson and his staff, but i do think it will be hard to win bowl games. Why would it be harder for GT to win bowl games than any other BCS team? The teams have more then a week to prepare for GTs offense... maybe time enough to drill into the D, their assignments?

How about $4 million and you don't have to have any beer signs up you just have to call it Busch stadium? and you can even spell Busch anyway you like. It all depends...... do the coaches get free beer?

OJW, You might want to ask this in the rules section of the forum, or on the officials forum on the delfi (sp?) sites.
I assume you are looking to quote a line from the rules book to point out to the refs?
