I completed the whole season. As a Former Marine and son of a career Navy man I have used the F word probably more than most. I have heard it more than most. But this was WAY over the top. But I have been to some D3 practices and heard pretty close to the same. But when you have coaches fighting with each other on the sideline, and a QB who clearly doesn't respect you or your coaches and you do nothing about it. This is where I draw the line. That's what should cost this guy his job. But when you take over a crap program and now you win, people don't care, your winning. So I get why he has a job. Henry is a problem child that nobody wanted before this show, how many power 5 guys will want him after? Not to mention he didn't look all that impressive. You are the TOP #1 guy in the whole country according to the highly qualified experts at ESPN (yes sarcasm) and you cant dominate JUCO? Took bad sacks, blamed ever bad throw on the coach or a fellow player. Called the coach out openly. I mean I am sure every player says to himself "this idiot can call a play". The good ones never say it out loud. I think these shows don't help the low numbers that continue to plague football. Doesn't matter what we think, Mom's don't want their babies talked to like this no matter what they say. Kids don't want to be talked to like this. He will last 2-3 more years, then he will do something stupid and they will have no choice, but until he starts losing he will be golden...and POS D1 players will come and play for him because they believe he can help them get another D1 offer. And good coaches, strong coaches will continue to get turned down for jobs because this guy "wins", never mind he leaves a path of destruction in his wake, and never stays anywhere longer than 2-3 years...Win baby WIn....

Cant teach class....all you can do is put your concerns in writing to his boss. Then next time you play them, beat them.

Rippon Uniforms. Most people don't know this but most NFL teams have Rippon make their unis. They just sew a Nike swosh on it. Here is the deal with Brand unis. They have a sale life of about 3 years. Meaning you can only buy them for 3 years, then they are gone. So if you need a replacement, your screwed. Here are the facts, parents ruin unis, unis get ripped, lost ect. With Ripon they keep your design on file for LIFE! That means 10, 15 years from now you can get a replacement. The cost is comparable with name brand. And they LAST!, they also back the product, if a uni rips at the seams, send it back they fix it. They can design anything you want. Don't waste your money on the swosh, or the UA...get a product that is same or better and make sure you can replace jerseys when you need to. Fact is if you need to replace a jersey 4 years after you buy from Nike, you cant. Its gone. They do this so you have to buy new unis every 4-5 years. Stupid, and if you want to do a special design...good luck..can you say more $$$ and 6 month lead time.....I bought 150 Custom designed Rippon Jerseys for much less than our BSN Rep or UA rep could sell me them, and they wanted extra $$ to add the custom touches....RIPPON is the way to go

Tell your coaches and your players to ignore the noise. Hold a meeting, and say point blank, "if they are not in this room, they don't matter".

Speed Flex is the only helmet I will put my son in. If I wont put my own son in it I wont put yours in it. I hate fixing those f***ing helmets. It's like they were designed to be a major pain to fix/replace anything. WHY DID THEY FEEL THE NEED TO TRY TO IMPROVE UPON A F***ING SCREW AND POST SET UP? Ok, rant over. Agreed the new screws are a pain....

Have each player send out a letter to 10 people. The letter should say something about your program, where the money goes. Have the player hand sign each one and hand address each one. Put a stamped envelope in each one. I am telling you if the letter is done right you will make more money then you have before. At one point we had 15-20K a year coming in. (120-140 kids) Send to local business, community leaders, but make sure they come from the kids. the old "beg-a-thon". curent principal won't let me do it It's not a beg a thon....it's sponsoring the program. You should also send thank you cards. I would rather do this than have my kids out shilling crappy candy bars, or crappy pizza's or cookie dough. Your return is crap, and your kids are going door to door and frankly that's a beg a thon.... you can even have a local print shop do a program thanking all your sponsors. don't put amounts given, just list the names and say thank you. This way 90% goes into your program, instead of 20% for shilling crappy products...

Yes we do for the 1st couple of weeks during install. That way they get varsity coaching, everyone gets the same coaching, everyone on the same page.
But when you go live, its frosh on frosh

Pros- Your kids at least get to play
Cons- Most of your Frosh will play scared will take a few games to get in the grove.
We have this, and we don't like it, but numbers dictate so we have to use this to play. We would prefer to have frosh playing frosh and Soph play Soph....

Here is what I tell all my players and coaches. Camps are for fun, making friends and competing with other kids. I don’t care what any camp director, coach or owner tells you. If they rely on camps and private instruction to pay the mortgage, they are not going to turn away a kid who they know can’t play. You can go to any camp or private coach any time they work out and watch 5-10% of the kids out there don’t belong there. Nowhere is that more evident than at a QB camp. You have kids that can’t throw more than 20 yards, and their parents are dropping tens of thousands of dollars on camps and private coaching. The whole time the coach is keeping a positive attitude, focusing on the few things the kid does well. Says the kid needs to work on______more etc. Rarely will he sit mom and dad down and say “look little Johnny is a great kid, but he needs to play with his hand on the ground” Why because that coach needs to pay his mortgage. Are there some that are “real” elite, scouting type camps. I am sure they are out there, but the fact is the coach to player ratio is all messed up, and every kid that doesn’t come back is money lost. So you need to weigh the cost vs the return. If you can afford the cost for 3 days of fun, do it.

The best 7 on 7 we do in the off season is at UW Whitewater, we go uppers. I say this because the most common injury I have seen is 2 kids going up for a ball and coming down on their head or hitting head to head. With uppers and helmets that takes that injury out of play. Then its mostly twisted ankles and such...

I guess if you don't have all your pads on, less chance a kid takes his stupid pill and goes all out when the drill is thud? Only thing we don't wear is the girdle, and pants. We go shorts and volley ball style knee pads.

Most of our practices after week 2 are in uppers, with "volleyball" knee pads. Rarely take to the ground after week 2. Mostly Thud, and on game day we tackle just fine. I don't see the point in beating the crap out of your kids. Plus the fact is this isn't 1980, these kids don't like getting crap kicked out of them everyday. This is the Madden generation. Bitch all you want about "in my day....blah,blah" It's not your day. In my day we had 2 water breaks, I think we can all agree that was a bad idea...kids have changed, so we need to change with them....

Well I know this, when my son starts getting visits I will be asking every coach what their Coachhuey name is....and he will be avoiding 19delta, and fantom.... Like I said retired cop...current Chief of Campus Public Safety at a D3 school and I can assure all of you, EVERY coach on that campus is part of the education process and takes it very serious, and if they don't they will find themselves looking for a new job.... Pot out.... D3? By definition, that isn't a big-time college football factory. The coaches at your school have much more in common with high school coaches than they do with Urban Meyer. You can bet your a$$ that if the coaches at your school want to move up to higher levels of football, they will learn that the real job of college coaches is winning, not educating kids. Hmm...Since when did a Community College in rural Miss. Become a "Big time" football factory? This post is about a Community College program, not Alabama..... Pot out...

Fantom...I am pretty sure the missions of De la salle and EMCC are EXACTLY the same, educate students and prepare them for life....so yes my son will avoid you and anybody who has a WIN at all cost attitude, because again I live in the real world and I want a coach and a program that understands Football ends....and life lessons like, accountability, discipline, team work and sacrifice will take you further in life......
sorry...Pot out again...

I firmly believe it is the job of any coach that coaches Student Athletes, to educate those athletes not only in the class room, but in life.
The coaches that have the singular job of just winning, are professional coaches, coaching other professionals that are paid to play.
Some have lost their way in the mission of coaching STUDENT Athletes....

So we are talking about molding young men and the actions of what most feel is a bad example of that and you want to take shots at my profession, and my integrity while hiding behind a user name on a computer board.
Guess I should respond by lumping you in with all the pedophile coaches and teachers right....since that is your logic here.
I must lack integrity since I am a Cop....I must be a liar, corrupt and unethical....I mean the news says we all are so must be true right....hey you forgot I am racist to...whatever...
Yes I have testified against a bad cop, as matter of fact I have arrested a few....my integrity is very much intact coach....very much...
Hey you do know Fantasy Island is not real right?....I mean I don't want you to book a vacation to find out it was just a show on TV....seems like that might be your source of information in life so...

I'll throw it right back coach....If they care they would teach them that their actions have consequences....and they aren't...miss class, ok we will still let you play...don't show up for meeting ok no problem your a starter...I mean really you need to tell a 19-20 year old man to make sure he has a pencil and paper....The military is also less expensive and they will not have their hands held and will learn how to be a man... I will bet you nobody is holding the hand of some kid who is on the border but doesn't play football...think for one second that these people would give two rips about these kids if they couldn't play football....keep them eligible so they can play and help us win, then who cares...I have my ring....what are they teaching, there will always be somebody there to help me get by because I can run with a ball....you think for one second you can miss work and keep your job! These are men, start treating them like men and they will start being men....keep holding their hands and I will be dealing with them very soon...and I frankly don't care one bit you can run with a ball, or how tough your life was....

I have watched 4 episodes, I have now read all of the comments here.
This documentary clearly shows the problem with society today. Clearly most of these kids should not have even graduated HS, let alone be admitted into College, ANY college. This school PAYS for a babysitter! I ask this, does the kid who is there to make a better life for themselves and family have access to this babysitter??? I venture not.
I read a ton of BS excuses….rough life, bad family, tough environment…blah, blah blah. There are TONS of people who have a tough up bringing that work their collective butts off to better their status in life without the BS attitudes of these idiots. I mean a Florida State dropout demands a private room before he attends a Community College….seriously!
In full disclosure I am not a teacher, I am a retired Police Officer, and Former Marine, so my attitude toward bad behavior and decisions is different. YOU are responsible for what YOU do. Not your station in life, YOU. In the Corps we have general orders, there are 11 official orders….but all Marines know there are 13…..#13 is “He who F’s up must pay”…..
I am not saying a kid can’t make a mistake, I am saying you MUST learn from that mistake and not make it again. I will help any kid, and have helped those who have learned from those mistakes. But these men and that is what they are men, have not learned a damn thing. Why haven’t they? Because NOBODY has held them accountable, NOBODY! They skated by in HS, and they are skating by in “College”…. The coach is an idiot I grant you that. And clearly he is not held to ANY standard other than WIN baby WIN….
The winningest HS program over the last 20 years is what? De La Salle correct? That program wins year in and year out correct? DO you think for 1 second they put up with this crap!? NO. And there are plenty of kids in that program that come from the rough part of town….
They have a standard and you are held to it, if not you’re not playing. I am telling you, if you have a standard, and you hold firm to that standard, your players will meet that standard. Not all but most. And you will then get more players who will and more and more. And you will see success on the field. Maybe not year 1, or 3 but you will.
As a parent we have a ton of pull with our kids, if we did our jobs right that is. And it will be a cold day in hell before I let my kid play in ANY program that has a standard of conduct or academics that is like this crap. I don’t care how many rings the guy has.
This may come as a shock, but football ends, it ends for everyone. When it does you better be able to function outside of it! I mean what the hell, English sub titles for a documentary filmed in the USA!!! Because the “College” Athlete can’t speak the damn English language!!! That says it all right there!!!
So what I see is a complete lack of leadership from the Top down..... end result your coach, and your players are out of control....

WOW...I guess there are a ton you guys that have 2-3 levels of stud players out there. No reps? really? must be nice to know that you will never need a 3rd-4th string kid to play because 1s and 2s never get hurt....or suspended.... I tell this story to every kid. We had a OL who was small and couldn't lift his own weight, between frosh and soph years he dedicated himself to the weight room, grew 4 inches and put on 60lbs of muscle....you just don't know when the light will go on. Limit reps yes, no reps....hmmm...

Try outs at the youth level is one of the problems we have with numbers. These daddy coaches screw kids up and then they get to their junior year and they are 6'3" 260 and want nothing to do with football. Why because when he was in 5th grade he was 4 foot nothing and 70 lbs....and some Joey Lombardi told him he couldn't play....

For apparel its good. For equipment its good you get good discounts on brand stuff. If you price it out you pay the same for off brand polos and other coach and warm up gear as you do if you go with a name brand dealer. Down fall is they change designs every couple of years, you have to get your orders in very early if you want it on time. Any changes to "stock" uniforms is very pricey. Lets say you decide to sign this year and you order new uniforms, this season you have say 4 get destroyed some how, bleach, rips whatever. If the uniform you choose was in its last year you are screwed, you cant replace those uniforms. If it was in year 1 or 2 your good. Like most schools you probably don't have the money to buy new game uniforms every 2-3 years...if you do good for you. But most don't, so if you spend 25-30K you need those to last. And probably you kick your old varsity uniforms to the JV right...so if you have 50 JV players but only 40 uniforms now what? I suggest you use name brand for apparel and equipment and a vendor like Ripon Athletic for uniforms, they never get rid of your uniform pattern, and here is a little info....they make most NFL and major college uniforms, and then stitch the Nike Logo on....yep its true....that way you can always replace the uniforms and add as needed with spending 20-30K for a whole team. Just my 2 cents...
