We have finally been given clearance to work with players after season has been postponed until spring and are looking for off season ideas to work with players with covid restrictions. We have the field for 2 hours with social distancing and can not use a ball. Thanks so much!!

Whatever you do don't have all the other guys you are with coordinate the same thing to wear each day. It doesn't look as cool as you might think.

We are trying to get our players to stop worrying about what they wear game time and spend more time getting focused on how they perform. Way too much time spent pre game on getting the right "look", that for us as coaches to worry about what they wear underneath just feeds into the mindset we want to get away from.

We use the tape that they use on the gym floors for temporary lines. It holds and doesn't leave the glue mess on the helments.

Not much of a staff tradition, but under a former HC the staff would go get breakfast before the game. The HC would order his "Hobo" (I still don't know what was in it!), eat it, and pop a hand ful of tums. Once we got to the school he would puke. Happened every Saturday morning.

Same here. I am getting this messege from WMP:
Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted.
Also, how soon will clinic notes be posted on the site.
Thanks

Take a look at Varsity Networks. It has a free basic addition or you can add some extras for an additional fee. www.varsitynetworks.com/

Will they cancel the clinic? NJ will be pounded the next 2 days with about 12-18 inches of snow. It will be hard to get in and out, especially the speakers who are flying in.

I just checked it out and it is working...
The access code that Glazier sends you can be used by as many coaches on your staff, however each coach can only use it on 2 computers. (ex. home and school) I believe you will only be able to access the season pass perks from the the computers that you register on.

There may not be an "I" in "Team," but there sure is one in "$hithead." THAT IS THE BEST ONE YET!!!!

We had a mouth piece problem a few years ago. We told them the state came up with a rule that all mouth pieces must be attached. Problem solved...until they chew them down to nothing.
Does anyone have an issue of the players not molding their mouth pieces? I would say that 99% of our players JV and Varsity do not mold their mouth pieces.

Had a player taken out of a scrimmage this year because he was getting his a$$ kicked. A few playes later the HC calls for him to come back in. I look over and he has his helemt off. I yell over to him "Lets go!! Get your helmet on and get in the game or go home!" He yells back "I'm going home!" We haven't seen him since.

I think this should do it!!
Pi x diameter (7 feet) = circumference
22 feet of hose, pvc, rope, etc... should work!!

I like the garden hose idea. It is real simple to put together and take apart to put away. I even think some of the kids will be able to figure it out. What size hose would be ideal for 1 hoop?

Has anyone ever made the large hoops for drills? I was thinking about getting flexible pipe such as sprinkler pipe and connecting each end to make them. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks

We have the same with the northern NJ catholic schools. What we have been seeing, along with other coaches in the area, is that we are losing kids that would be very good contributors and starters at their public schools.
However, the kids and their parents get all bright eyed about their sons getting "recruited" and the only time they touch the field is the pre-game warm-up. Johny does his jumping jacks, heads to the sideline and he is finished for the day.
Some of the kids end up coming back because they realize they have wasted a year on the sideline and they ruined their chances of getting recruited because they have no film.

We just held a coin-drop last on Saturday . We put about 10 players at a bunch of busy intersections with their jerseys and helmets to collect the money. We collected $2000 in 2 1/2 hours. Afterward we get some pizzas and throw out a few basketballs in the gym and everybody is happy.

I coached at a JPD 2 years ago and a HSPD last year. The JPD was for middle school aged kids and the NFL provided equipment for the players to borrow. The practices were scripted by the NFL and the players practiced at every position and learn the fundamentals of the game with some character education built in.
The HSPD was geared towards college prep and the players had to sit through some sessions on becoming organized as a student/athlete and preparing themselves for college. HSPD was helmets and shoulder pads and again the practices were scripted by the NFL with drills and activities. Each practice ended with some type of competition.
They were both very well run and the coach that was able to secure the program did a great job. The coaches get a stipend, and some coaching apparel, but the host/organizer might get a bigger payment.

Our kids don't shower in the locker room after practice or games and many do not wear a cup.
In HS we had a coach walk around with a whiffle ball bat, or as he called it his"pecker checker" to be sure everyone was "properly outfitted." One day I forgot my cup and wouldn't you know... I take a knee square in the twig and berries. Worst pain in my life. Never forgot it again!!
