The officials should have spotted the incorrect marking when they walked the field in Pre-Game. This is exactly what I told them. They just said they missed it. My response to them was that the other team screwed up, you screwed up, but we are the one's getting hosed.

We score, decide to go for 2. Run the play, convert. We get lined up for the ensuing kickoff, and the officials huddle near the endzone where we just scored. A couple minutes later, they come running over to tell me that the field is marked incorrectly, that the PAT line was marked at the 2 instead of the 3, and that we have to do the try over. I explained to the officials that they couldn't make us replay the down unless there was a penalty or inadvertent whistle. Their counter was it was like a timing error, and could be corrected if the next play had not been run. My counter to that was timing errors don't take points off the board. Needless to say, we had to do the try over. We did not convert. Fortunately, we were able to win the game anyway. Our state association has already admitted that the officials were wrong, but nothing will be done to them. Not that it matters, but whose field were you playing on? Georgetown, SC

Easiest thing to do is to go to Amazon and buy a presentation remote. The one I have cost me $30 and it works great. Are you using the SmartPointer? Yes. Never had any issues.

Quick thought: We primarily use the arrow keys on the keyboard and a standard laser pointer more than we use our Hudl remote during team sessions. Easiest thing to do is to go to Amazon and buy a presentation remote. The one I have cost me $30 and it works great.

I think this is great. I hate logo poaching. I wish Georgia Tech would send a letter to my school. I refuse to use their Yellow Jacket logo for football, but our other sports use it. We tried to introduce something new, but we were told we couldn't use it.

We do a lot of the things listed in this thread, but the two things we do that our kids want the most is those that meet our off-season requirements get to be first in line at pregame meals and first in line to get game pants.

We get ours from Schutt through BSN. Any company that deals with Schutt should be able to get them.

We just had three kids sign to play baseball at an NAIA school. The best part about...none of the three have ever played baseball! Not only that, one of them is currently classified as a 10th grader because he has only one math credit. He has failed his last 5 math classes, and is currently taking 3 math classes this semester to attempt to graduate. One of the other two has a CORE GPA of 1.1 and is ranked 104 of 116 in his class. At the signing I was asked to speak at the beginning because all 3 played football for me (though 2 of the 3 quit) and I am the AD. I refused. Told the principal I wasn't getting up in front of our other athletes and lying about what a great job these kids had done. WTF? How did your administration even allow this to proceed? Its all about appeasing parents.

AA school in SC. We wait until baseball is finished and track is down to the qualifier stage. We may have 1 or 2 still in track at that point.

At my previous school, it was called "Varsity Sports", and was a PE class taught by one of the football coaches that taught PE. We had it both semesters, last block. 95% of all varsity and JV players were in the class. We also had a PE 1 class in the fall that was all freshmen football players. All football coaches had last block planning and were expected to be in the weightroom or on the field with their players. Each school in the district had the same set-up. At my current school, we have "Athletic Weightlifting," and we usually get about 75% of our varsity players in the class.

We do an overall player of the week for each win. We hang a framed picture commemorating this in the locker room. The players are presented with the pictures at the banquet. We also do offensive, defensive, and special teams players of the weeks, as warranted, and an effort and toughness award. I've tried a bunch of different things, including t-shirts and helmet decals for the awards winners, but the thing they seem to like best is a Gatorade and a Snickers, so that's what we give out now.

We are a school of ~550 students. We do a week of two-a-days. We practice for 90 minutes, take a 45 minute break, and then go for another 90 minutes. We do all offense one practice, then do all defense the other. In SC, we are limited to 3 hours per day for the first week, but we only did 90 minute practices before that.

If it doesn't hold air any better than the GST, they have wasted their time. We switched to Nike balls this year because the Wilson's don't hold air or their shape very well anymore

I am the HC and call the plays. In addition to the play calls, I have an area with kickoff return and punt team personnel (these are the two I'm in charge of), a timeout chart, an area to chart penalties, an area with game captains listed, and a general area to make notes during the game.

Instead of athletic tap, use white electrical tape. It stays on the helmet, but doesn't damage the paint.

www.bsnsports.com/segment-timer-w-wireless-remoteWe use this one. It is loud and easily visible from a distance. You can program the periods to be as long as you want. We've had it for 5 years, never had a problem with it. We usually plug it in, but the battery will last a long time if not plugged in. It comes with a chain so you can hang it up if you don't have something to sit it on. It also comes with a plastic cover for rainy days.

We do both. The coaches appoint 7 players to the leadership council (at least 1 SO, 2 JR, 3 SR). I meet with them as a group once a week. They are there to provide feedback and suggestions. The main thing they usually suggest is stiffer penalties for people who are late to practice or get in trouble in school. We have 2-4 game captains each week. These are seniors only who have met all of the requirements (summer attendance, etc). At the end of the regular season, the entire team votes for permanent captains. These players (usually 3 or 4) are the game captains for all playoff games, and are listed in the yearbook and on the website as the team captains.

I am curious as to how many states have a six-quarter rule? If you have it, how do like it and how are the quarters played tracked (do you have to submit something to a conference or league office)? We have it, don't have to submit anything. It's basically policed by the coaches. If you think a kid played too many quarters and they disagree you would go to the film for proof. I think I've only heard of one game being forfeited in our state since we went to 6 quarters. As for the 14-game rule, that one's a little suspect. How am I going to know whether a kid on our week 9 schedule has played more than 13 games already? Thank you for the response. Our football coaches association is trying to get the state to adopt a six quarter rule similar to Georgia's. One of the things the people in the league office throw back at us is how to verify it. Our contention is that they trust the baseball coaches to keep track of pitch counts, so why can't we be trusted to keep track of quarters played.
