A few years ago, my state sent out a survey to any and all coaches on which ball they would prefer be the official ball. Wilson and Rawlings were the leaders, by a mile.
Less than 10% voted for Spalding.
A few months later, the state association announced a new corporate partner, Spalding.
And the new required ball was the $105 Spalding ball, that got about 7% of the vote.
Footballs are an absolute joke, as far as requirements and sponsorships.

It should be left up the team. As long as it is NFHS approved.

Thank goodness this new ball has "color changing leather" so that QBs know when it's properly broken in. Without, how would they possibly know what feels good to them?!

Great thing about Texas is there is no required official ball. As long as it is a legal ball we are good. We use the Big Game Team Issue ball.

If it doesn't hold air any better than the GST, they have wasted their time. We switched to Nike balls this year because the Wilson's don't hold air or their shape very well anymore

The Spalding Alpha is the official ball in the playoffs here in MN. At first when we went to Spaldings as a state they were awful but this Alpha is a good ball. That Wilson is way to much money.
