I'm like you, Planck. Once a film is tagged, I export it to Excel and go from there. I do this for two reasons: #1-Excel can do some of the heavy lifting (tagging). I don't have to enter everything; Excel formulas can take care of some things. #2-I've been using Excel as a scouting tool for years and find it easier to manipulate data with Excel. As a former English teacher who has trouble counting, I agree with the following. "Their tools are just bad. It's an online viewing platform, that's it." Is there any tutorials on doing this or can you more in depth on how you do this

I find that the knowledge our kids have about the game is fractional then what we expect, staff has talked about doing a weekly class for this, its just the little things that cost my team this year, kids not realizing there was a fumble and possession changed.

Been doing this for 10 years. I love every minute of it. But I became a dad in the last year and I have found that I am spending way more time raising other people’s kids than my own. The time commitment and the year round schedule is becoming a strain on my marriage. I think it’s time to walk away. I honestly am not interested in staying in the classroom if I’m not coaching. I have never done anything else and have no clue what to do, how to even look for a 9-5, or how my skills as a coach can find me employment elsewhere. Anyone else been through this? I could definitely use some advice. Coach Was passed over this past year for the HC at the school I teach. Was ready for it to be my time, when I was not hired I decided to step away. Had numerous offers from other schools but needed the break. I have four kids, and have coached for 12 years at the same school. I had the best summer of my life, never realized the amount I was truly absent in my kids life because of football. Not saying I will never go back, but a year off is exactly what I needed

I disagree about the price, it all depends on how many sports use it, and what do you normally get with it. Plus you can easily flip it into a fundraiser

No, the way they explained it the cameras are free. The value is worth it if you have a district who uses the Hudl services, if football is the only team then definitely not worth it.

Our cost was 9k this year. They offered a deal to lock you in for this price. You get two focus cameras, as well as a district accounts for all teams. As well as the premium sideline, and assist. It is worth the price if you get all the teams to use it. Right now at my school 90% of the teams use it.

Tried the free preview yesterday, systems are good, especially the defensive stuff. The organization of the Drive was much better as well.

I know both teams would have to supply a ball boy but they would be responsible for getting each teams balls in, I know they did mention that the ball boy better pay attention because it will be an issue if ball does not get in

I know at our rules meeting, they stated the will not wait for sticks to get set, if you have a slow crew they will drop the bean bag, and start the clock

I have one for the 25 second clock, but does anyone have a time management chart for the new play clock or do you think with the different rules of stoppage it might be too hard to set one up

I joined in this conversation on twitter, first I have never used a conditioning test as a coach, second I see my guys 4 days a week in the summer, if they are not ready then that needs to fall on the staff

During the season, our guidance counselor is in charge of eligibility so she checks it weekly and lets us now about grades, during offseason I usually check a different grade a week, but teachers at my school are really good about letting me know about players who struggling or failing

We start spring today. One of our varsity coaches came to our HC this morning and resigned from coaching. He just finished up a new degree and will be teaching dual credit classes next year and he said that he and his girlfriend talked and he just has too much on his plate to keep coaching. First don't ever use your mom or your girlfriend as an explanation of the decision to resign. They may have played a part in making the decision but just own it. Second, When do you guys feel like the most appropriate time is to resign from a position? I like this guy and he is a good coach. I understand his reasons and respect them. BUT resigning the day we start spring doesn't seem right to me. Disagree with the concept of using wife/mother/gf as an excuse. I often discuss items with my wife in terms of time, etc... and if he and his gf feel that it is too much on plate than nothing wrong with that. In terms of resigning, I would agree between Jan-Mar would be best

I did it last year for our first opponent for this past upcoming season, the most invaluable item I pulled were the post snap movements. Being able to see how the played us and vice versa was a great assest, plan to do this year for each of our opponents who will be similar to last year

I remember reading somewhere that if you are not watching with a Notebook, then you are wasting time, I also believe guys watch film to put stars by their name and not truly watch what is going on I think one thing I am going to have my LB's do next year is watch film and Pad the games just so I know they are watching film

We still watch film as a team, not a fan, I would rather sit with my line group and discuss certain aspects of the film then in team room,
