Normally between JV and Varsity we are pushing 50. This year we are pushing 80. We went 1-9 last year, so the retention/new recruit rate, in all honesty, baffles me, but anyone else have this happen lately despite football being on the decline nation wide in terms of participation?

In three seasons we have gone from 21 to 44 to 60. Now the first two numbers are ending numbers whereas the 60 is where we are now. I do think we'll have a few kids not make it for either grade reasons or just not being ready for high school football.
I would love to tell you what we've done to make this happen, but honestly, we had a couple classes go through that either didn't participate in sports, couldn't stay out of trouble, or both. Now, those classes have graduated.

Similar to wolverine, I'm not sure why or how this has happened, but we are at 32. Last year we were at 25. Year before we were at 27, but graduated 8. Our enrollment is around 95, we co-op with a neighboring school who is around 40. So a total of around 130-140 students and we are pulling 32. There are some kids that were not even on my radar of getting them out, and all of a sudden they showed up. Hoping we can keep them all out.

We are actually down this year. Second time ever that we had to cancel the freshman season. Hopefully that is a good sign overall for the sport and will be able to get some bigger classes coming through.

My old school folded our JV team 3 years ago. We usually sat around 30-45 regularly. Last year at Frosh/Soph we had 67 (more kids than uniforms) this year they are very close to 60 at Frosh/Soph (Majority being Frosh as a good amount of Sophomores move up if they are ready). So the numbers there are doing alot better. Also helps that we had won the Frosh/Soph league title two years in a row and had only lost one game.

We are also up, but have a lot of seniors and freshman and when the seniors graduate that bubble could burst.

We are also up, but have a lot of seniors and freshman and when the seniors graduate that bubble could burst. This is what I worry about currently have 19 seniors out of about 75 kids, so looking at about 25% which wouldn't be bad but we count 8th graders for JV....currently there are just 4 of those kids. Might create a little participation bubble, but our JV is loaded with sophomores experiencing their first taste of football (athletes recruited from other sports)

Went from 40-45 combined to 65 combined this year. We are truly blessed to have the numbers we do. Haven't had numbers like this in at least 4 years.

44 last year, sitting at 57 now!
480 students 9-12, competing with a powerhouse soccer program. Winning a district championship helps for sure

Year 1 38 Year 2 28 Year 3 37(current)
Took over a program averaging 1 win a year, and made the play-offs in first seasons. Hoping over the next couple of years the numbers get into the 40's consistently.(180 kids in high school)

Low 30s last season, low 40s this season.
We had a small senior class leave and large incoming fresh class account for most of that.....but the recruiting trail did yield some fruits

The last two schools I've been at have been up. Previous school has ~100 between freshmen, JV, and varsity. Current school is a little lower than that but on varsity we're to the point where we don't have any more jerseys to hand out, which is pretty cool. We've actually had to turn a couple kids down that wanted to come out after the school year started or transferred late. We had our best year in a couple decades last year so not surprising.
Both are somewhat anomalies as numbers in the area are definitely down. Winning games definitely helps to bring in numbers too.

We have been up the past 4 years. We are lucky to have solid youth organization. Without it the specialization sports would have their claws into far more kids.
