I am in the process right now of interviewing guys for my staff. We have a very close knit group. We all love what we are doing, drink a ton of beer after the games and are all basically "friends" I would not say that they are the most knowledgeable people in the world but they work there tails off and stay consistent with my goals for the program. I struggle with finding people who can be cohesive with our group. We are all teachers in the same school and all the applicants are not in the building. I think that chemistry is really important.

I go to all the games, I take my little boy with me. Night out and brownie points The parents are brutal to this poor guy. I have some football players on the team so I go an support them. We were terrible in football, they are terrible in basketball. Cant wait for baseball and Lacrosse.
On another note I have my Linemen on the swim team. It is a riot. They all sink to the bottom. But, they are getting in real good shape staying together as a group and having a ton of fun. Even though they look like Thorton Melon attempting the Triple Lindy they are really getting a great workout.

Myself-PE Head Coach-HS DC-Health-Motor Development-HS OL-Math-HS JV-Social Studies-Middle School JV-PE Teacher-HS Asst.-Business-HS Asst.-Special Ed-HS
We make it a point to talk with EVERY kid in the building. We will end up with a ton of Sophomores this year because they are seeing what we are all about.

Wingtol,
It is ironic! But if it saves me some time and it keeps me home (Can't sit in a classroom) I am willing to do it.

Wingtol,
I agree, but I am in Massachusetts and they make us get a Masters in our field. I am a PE teacher so I can either go PE or Athletic administration. If I choose to go another route I would have to take additional classes in SPED. I would like to find a program that offers both. I just looked into Concordia, Irvine they offer both, expensive but I could get it done in 12 to 18 months.

Coaches,
Has anyone out there participated in or completed an online Masters program for PE and or coaching. Any suggestions on a particular program? Pro's and Con's?

I have seen this thread on the board previously about individual awards etc... handed out at Post season banquets. My question is does anyone follow a format that they do not mind sharing for these banquets?
Thanks,
Juice

Just put the order in for the UA Texas Tech style uniforms. We got the waist length jersey's without the tackle twill #'s. Screen Printed instead, it saved us a little bit of money and I was afraid of the bubbling.
The pants alone are the best I have ever seen.
Not too bad financially either.

Huey and Dubber,
we are looking at the Texas Tech Style how about you guys. I know there are a few different styles out there but these seem to be the best. I am a little worried about the $$$$

Anyone out there use Under Armour Uniforms. we are in the process of bidding out for new uni's and everyone has been coming to us with Under Armour first. We have worn Reebok for the past 5 years and the kids hated them. I have a couple of concerns. I heard that the Russell Compression Fit rip really easily, so I do not want to go that route and the Nike is too expensive.

Juice10,
Was it, or is it tough to stay the course with the same guys you started with? The first question I always get is are you letting anyone go? Are you going to have the same staff next year? That type of thing.
Coachh,
I am not sure I will ever be able to handle losing. My big thing right now is that the kids are buying into "It" Only time will tell.

We were not very good previously to me getting there but I inherited a team that only had 6 seniors and only 1 with varsity experience. I played with 2 JV teams one on Friday nights and one on Monday afternoon.
I played at a great HS program that had a winning tradition. The college I played at the same thing, The school I am the HC at had been swimming in a sea of mediocrity for years upon years. There winning ways ended in the 70's with a flash in the pan here or there.
All that being said, I am attempting to build a program from the ground up. Teaching everything. Hired great people around me who may not be the best football guys in the world but they support me and my plan 100%. The admin does not care just don't give them any major problems. I have supportive parents and they are all 9th and 10th graders.
My advice, if you choose to take over this program look at all the things on the periphery. Admin, parents, players. All those little things that you really do not want to focus on are really important in making the decision. Make sure they know you are there to build a program and it takes time.
The previous HC sad to me and I quote. "People think you are a miracle worker, no one has won here in 30 years" I use that everyday to motivate me to turn this thing into a great program.

School wide B-F-S program, 1100 students. We do it in PE as well as for the teams. The catch is that we have some old school coaches that will not let there kids lift. I am in charge of the weight room as well as some other teachers. They are all on my staff.

How much pull does your booster clubs have with your non-football decisions? For example new uniforms, head sets, t-shirts, pride gear etc... Does anyone not have a good relationship with people in the booster club? If you are the Head Coach do you have the final say on everything?
