I have seen this thread on the board previously about individual awards etc... handed out at Post season banquets. My question is does anyone follow a format that they do not mind sharing for these banquets?
Thanks,
Juice

I guess I don't have a formal format but there are a couple of things that I make sure is done at each banquet:
1) Recognize & thank EVERYONE involved in the program individually (stats, bus driver, moms who help with team suppers, etc.). You need these people and it is a great recruiting tool for other people to help if you recognize everyone. 2) Make sure each player hears his name at least once during the banquet. We have some freshmen who never see the field in the varsity game but they are still a necessary part of the team. Therefore, I announce each player (by grade) and have them come to the front. I will then say a few things about each class. 3) Present the seniors individually: I will have each senior come to the front as I discuss some memories of them. I never discuss statistics or game highlights. Most everyone in the room already knows this. I try to discuss the "behind-the-scenes" stuff that involves leadership moments, character, commitment, or practice/training moments. I want the younger players to see what we really value when you walk away from Charger football and to help the seniors understand their value goes far beyond athletic ability. 4) Do the awards thing 5) Give one more plug to the weight room and off-season training.

Our Banquet is for 7th/8th Grade Team, JV & Varsity.
Thank the important people... 1. Coaches wives 2. Grounds crew 3. Administration...include the secretary(ies) 4. Parents (Breakfast/Pregame meals, etc.) 5. Chain crew 6. Video/Stat personnel 7. Ball boys 8. Trainer
Team by Team breakdown - I introduce the coaching staff and then each staff presents their individual team. Usually the individual coaches will go through their positions or kids they most associate with to provide little anecdotes if appropriate 1. Junior High (7th/8th Grade) - announce each kid and then give a season synopsis..no MVP AWARDS for this level 2. JV (9th/10th Grade) - announce each kid and then season synopsis/highlights. MVP awards for Offense/Defense/Outstanding Lineman (if not already an MVP kid), 2 Coaches Awards as determined by JV staff (if necessary) 3. Varsity - same format for announcing kids. Offensive MVP/Defensive MVP, 12th Man Award(s) for kid that maybe isn't a starter but never misses practice, plays on all scout teams, a true TEAM PLAYER, etc., Individual "Coaches Awards" as determined by each Varsity Coach.
