had a great year this year and was reflecting on why the other day.LUCKILY we had the best team chemistry(whatever that means) we've ever had.not sure how you measure this. However, just as important, we had great coaching chemistry which isn't talked about as much.everybody just got along well and liked each other.together it made for a real good year. BUT just like momentum in a game how do you bottle it up if it doesn't come naturally?i know there is no formulas but any thoughts on how to help create this?i think we just got lucky.it might be as important as X's and O's and Jimmies and Joes if this year was any indication.

chemistry on a coaching staff? we think that it is developed through coaching together over seasons. one thing that we did this past season is we played city league softball as a coaching staff. it was alot of fun. Also, pre-season and post season staff BBQs with the wives and kids helps the staff bond together.

For the staff you definitely have to do things not related to football and do it with the families included.
getting rid of the cancers hlps with the kids

I am in the process right now of interviewing guys for my staff. We have a very close knit group. We all love what we are doing, drink a ton of beer after the games and are all basically "friends" I would not say that they are the most knowledgeable people in the world but they work there tails off and stay consistent with my goals for the program. I struggle with finding people who can be cohesive with our group. We are all teachers in the same school and all the applicants are not in the building. I think that chemistry is really important.

I try to surround myself with quality people first. Quality people can disagree and remain professional and respectful. I have seen up close the effects of sociopaths on a staff. Not pretty. To build chemestry its important to meet often in the off season and to talk and work out problems that might come up before the season. I think having a more mature staff means alot for chemistry as the egos just dont seem to be there. The guys who are all puffed up at the chest just crack me up. Its not your time bro.
