Just to get the ball and throw it? And in that situation? I'm 90% sure it was a sight adjustment/ "hot route", so to speak, by the punter and the gunner. I don't know. Nick Saban soesn't seem to be a guy who'd let his punter run a sight adjustment on his own. Don't remember Saban's use of fakes in big games at LSU?

Let me rephrase my response....
Do you mean
"this kid is a STUD, there's nothing we can do" (game planning)
Or
"That STUD was just too much, we did everything right but he still beat us" (post game)

having worked camps for them for the last 8 years..... the coaching staff at Iowa felt we were a year away from having one of the best teams we have ever had at Iowa. I know a little about the game. well, I guess that qualifies all the Super Fan claims made in your post, then You think this years team is close to the 2004 team or the 1985 team? I agree the game really never came out of Iowa's control, but Iowa's defense didn't do anything different than they've done all year (and every other season) which is line up in 2-high and just knock the {censored} out of folks playing good fundamental technique. I am not sure how an unbiased eye would think Iowa would contend with any of the top 5 FCS teams this season. Now I have to listen to everyone say, if you have 30 days you can stop the triple option. I don't believe that, but..... neither do I. Its an unquantifiable argument. How many days is 'enough'? In addition, it dismisses exactly WHAT the Iowa defense is (which usually never gets premiere athletes) - just basic fundamental defense, that never deviates

I would agree that this was probably one of the best MATCHUPS of the bowl season (along with Iowa/GT) - the teams matched up very comparably with one another. I'd agree with Khalfie that the defenses executed poorly

Yes. Remember, it is PLAYERS that play the game.
Have you never seen a bonafide DI kid play in a HS game? That is what it looks like no matter who they are playing

Score was close...........because the GT defense scored. The GT offense couldn't even get a 1st down (which is NO slight on the triple-option flexbone).
Thats like saying "good fundamental weight lifting" when you can't get the weight off the rack, let alone do a rep.

It is also key to remember that this game was close until that last TD broke it open to 10. I disagree. How was it 'close', though? GT offense was fighting to tread water in the first half, and if not for their 2nd half opener really didn't have much to pat themselves on the back for. Outside of stretch and stretch-boot, there really isn't much that the Iowa offense is proficient at (been that way for years)

I don't remember seeing GT running follow once last night.
Sitting in the double-wing spread formation all night didn't help much in forcing the defense to outflank it, confuse it, or break it.
I.E. Defense does THIS - what you going to do to break/stress it?

I'm not sure/sold on the time thing.
Parker is going to do what he does and sit.........he doesn't "scheme" the hell out of any team they play.

I love option football, but the lack of answers by GT wasn't "good football". GT didn't provide much of anything to break Iowa's defensive game plan.
Doing the same thing over and over again with the same results, doesn't (IMO) warrant a merit badge.
Not hating on GT at all, though. Triple is a viable and effective offense, and this game wasn't indicitive of any 'future' litmus test for GT (they will be fine doing what they do). They just didn't execute. That said, I love me some 'boring' old Norm Parker defense.

Iowa is absolutely throwing the farm at it. Am I missing something? I'm seeing them in their base 4-3 playing the option how everyone else does. DE- dive, OLB- QB, S- filling inside/out, C- pitch. Are they doing anything special I am not noticing or just kicking their @ss? Maybe I'm missing something, then If 24 yards on 11 plays isn't getting you @ss kicked.....

Great step reaching out to the important people. This should really help build a positive communication.
Is this a mailing or an email/e-zine?
One critique and feel free to ignore, but too many "I"s and "you"s.....should be replaced with "WE"

ownership - "buying in" isn't compliance, its being assured that the investment will pay off. How do you solicit any type of investment? "Give me money!" .... "Give me money....or else!"gee, I don't know why people don't give me money. Nowadays there has to be more in it for the kid to get him to take part. We spend a great deal of energy recognizing our players for their off-season productivity. We highlight their efforts on our team's website, we have kids earn lifting club shirts, we pass out recognition shirts for off-season leadership and followership. DING!

Anyone catch the ESPN rub by Jimmy Johnson (FOX) during the 12/3 pregame NFL analysis? By chance I caught this (rarely get to watch NFL, let alone pregame), after the usual horseplay nonsense by the crew, Johnson quiped, "I want to talk football!....because AS A DAD.....and, um, I've got SONS who watch football, and uh...." (Mocking Craig James' invocation of same qualifier the other night) The rest of the crew knew exactly what he was talking about and let out the 'OOOOO's in stunned disbelief.
That's got to be one of the funniest things I've heard all year.

The one guy I do really really like to listen to is Chris Spielman. He picks out things that no one else can see, and the best part is he is totally frickin crazy. did you hear the game last weekend with Bob Griese arguing running Digs all night and Chris Spieleman ready to punch him by countering with dropping his linebackers 20 yds downfield? It got pretty bad If they can not talk too much, give pertinent updates, and just not say too many stupid things. Apparently, the latter can be a difficult proposition I like that Todd Blackledge group Need more Erin Andrews and Lisa Salters

that is a rather interesting contract.......... and I'm curious if anyone else has dealt with "this" at the HS level.....not necessarily with kids and their parents going bonkers, but has anyone (HC) dealt with a HC football contract that stipulates / defines teaching environment / schedule (probably not, but just checking precedent)? I know some folks battling this now, and I was curious if any other states besides Texas that afford provisions (untouchable clauses) for HC curriculums. (i.e. - HC position + athletic period + school vehicle + 1 teaching (social studies) class) ....with a provision that that teaching class, for example, doesn't get jacked around with later putting the HC teaching 5 classes instead of 1. I'm sure its all set by the school board, who don't really care about individual schools. Just curious if there was anyone that had experience with setting demands for HS athletic contracts. ** If you can't get the above link to work, try these; email offer counter-offer
Notice the base salary..........coupled with escalators*** and if those links go dead (scratch head) - here are images brophyfootball.blogspot.com/2009/12/leach-contract.html
