What’s everyone expecting from Deion at Colorado?

I think they should be incredibly happy if they go 6-6 and get a bowl game next year. I think they'll be lucky if they're 2-2 after their first four games.
I think the shine might wear off pretty quickly if his second season isn't a glowing success. It's a different level of competition, and he's not going to be able to just out-athlete people at this level. As of yet, it doesn't seem like the scheme is a difference maker. Yes, he will recruit well, but it seems to me like the transfer portal is a place to fill gaps. You get guys who showed out at a lower level or were stuck behind someone at a higher level that want time. So young studs will need time (assuming they don't hit the portal themselves) and transfers likely don't make them a top tier team.
Speaking of his players hitting the portal, I do wonder how much his "high expectations" might end up wearing on kids. I don't know if Saban kicks kids out for wearing the wrong color socks or not, but he's won a few titles and is a great defensive mind.

Awful he going to lack any depth this year and if you don't win with all the transfers you risk putting yourself in a Kansas esque situation where you only have 60 guys on scholarship. Since he been hired 41 guys have hit the portal. Even assuming a low number of 10 seniors that 51 players.

They already sold out on their season tickets. The spring game sold out and people are talking about them. Regardless of their record this year, I’m sure the powers that be at CU are happy.

I give him two years to get them to a bowl game. I figure he'll be gone if he can't manage that.

What’s everyone expecting from Deion at Colorado? As always with a new coach, we'll see.

I watched some of their spring game on ESPN. I think they will score a lot of points. But won’t be very good on D. The starting D really struggled to stop the second O. Saw the DL totally get driven off the ball a couple of times. That may have been the 2nd DL I can’t remember. But I think they will lose several high scoring games.

Looking at last years schedule. Other than the game they won over Cal they gave up more than 40 every game but 1. And gave up 38 in it. I don’t know if Deion can portal in enough help to turn that around in a year.

Isn't high scoring/no defense what the Pac 12 does? Outside maybe Utah.

What’s everyone expecting from Deion at Colorado? Buzz. Which is exactly what Colorado wanted when they hired him. He is currently exceeding expectations. When 47,000+ fans go to see a scrimmage in sub 40 degree weather following a one win season- you are on the right track regarding buzz.

An investment in football. Something pac12 brethren Stanford has decided not to do. I give credit to the admin who after 20 years decided that it might be a good thing to have a decent football team. CU was the worst power 5 team last year. Their stats were embarrassing, look at their leading rusher stats or total sacks. Deon has flipped this roster, if they win 5 games it’s the most since Mel Tucker who was then promptly hired by Michigan St which doubled his salary. If Deon fails at CU at least the university has showed that they once again care about football.

That's great news. Didn't their AD say they didn't actually have the money to pay him? I feel like he said they were counting on boosted revenue.

I think it will be a tough turnaround for him and Colorado. You can't come in and tell everybody to leave and then get upset when everybody leaves. They will have a small roster and injuries could derail the entire season. I can see a below .500 record in year one and not much better in year 2. Year 3 will be the big tell IF he can make it that far without another mass exodus of players or coaches.

They will be horrible and lucky to win 2 games this season. They have zero depth and barely any talent on the roster.
It will take years to get it going in a winning record direction.

I would take the over on 2 wins, but I wouldn't feel great about it. I think he is doing things the right way and the stuff he is putting out on social media is great. But he will be challenged as a leader in a way that he wasn't at Jackson State. I am rooting for him because of what I have seen so far, but the biggest issue is that he has to play up to moving targets and has a tough schedule minus the Colorado State game.

The roster purge will either make him a genius or a moron. I'm teetering towards the latter but we'll see.

Watched the Spring game. First thing I thought about was how hard it's going to be to recruit athletes to come to a place that it SNOWS during your spring game!! Other than playing for Deion what is there to offer?? And if there's not some success, that will wear off quickly as well. What's he going to say "Come to Colorado, where you get to play in sub zero temps year around, it even snows during our spring practices and games" LOL. I'm hoping he does great. I think he says all the right things and tries to put his words into action as good as there is. I mean...after you listen to the guy, how do you not want him to succeed. This year I would set the line at 3 1/2.

Going to school in Boulder, CO used to be a huge draw as it's a cool town. But... It's become prohibitively expensive to live there which is a big drawback.

I think 3-4 wins. Again, the team was horrible and it was bad at two of the worst positions that one can fail at: OL/DL.
Social media better help get some of the big dogs in there. It's the same reason I have a HOT sports opinion on Wisconsin.

Coach Prime has basically done what many old school coaches did years ago. It will take him a couple of years to rebuild CU into relevance again, and when they are I'm sure others will start pointing fingers and wondering if he did it legally.

I hate to say this...but there are NO colleges that are at the TOP that does everything "legally"

Now there are. I can get boosters to give big money NIL deals to the players that I want. Texas has a 50k per OL deal with a set of boosters. That's why I think coaches are so important at this level now....find the prospects you want. Set aside a silly "salary" range for the prospects and build to your hearts/boosters desire. Rinse and repeat. BTW, I'm not saying that this is a good thing....

This year I would set the line at 3 1/2. It was in the 30s at Illinois' spring game too. The weather in Boulder Co is not nearly as extreme as your presenting. If you can recruit kids to Ann Arbor's climate, you can recruit them to Boulder's.

I do think Deion is learning one lesson: The transfer portal is a two-way street. You can’t just eliminate the guys you don’t want and bring in ones you do want. Some you want to keep might find greener pastures too. The leading WR from the spring game just bolted. I can’t imagine he is pleased with that.

Started off liking him
Deion is a narcissist. He is not X and O oriented at all
He’s learning the hard way the transfer portal is meant to be used sparingly- he has JSU kids leaving
Sean Lewis is a very good coach and his son is a VERY good QB nepotism not with standing
They will score points but their defensive line is horrid and they have no depth
2-10 this year. I’ll be surprised if he lasts 3 years

I doubt Deion’s X’s and O’s acumen is as good as many high school coaches. I think he would be terrible as a coordinator. That said, recruiting and assistants are the name of the game when you’re a college HC so he doesn’t necessarily have to be a chalk board wizard to be successful.
