Coaches, I am wondering what is the numbering system that most use for calling out D line Techniques? I have seen a few different ways to do it, is there a standard? Our city would like to standardize our # systems so as kids move up through the 7 teams/age groups we do not have to reteach to kids that have learned to do it one way. Some odd fronts number different from even. I think this is the most common, please correct me if I am wrong:
edited:------- ----Y----T----G----C----G----T----X 8-967-544i-322i-101-2i23-4i45-769-8 --------------- Question: Should the inside sholder of Guard be 2i and 1 for either side of center? Basically it is from that point in tward center I am confused about.
Also do odd and even fronts normally number differently?
thanks, Case
BTW - I did a search

We use 1-2-3. 1-inside shade 2- head up 3- outside shade gap- between players.
As a coach you need to know the Bum Phillips stuff just so you can understand but once you start getting to the edge of defense numbers start getting funny. We use the above because it is very simple.
