Anyone work in an area that gives more than 7 years when switching jobs? Around here that seems to be the max and the better paying places give less.

I a guessing most coaches do not stay the 6-7 years really needed for this to matter. Less than 50% of the coaches in my area are around more than 5 years.

We had a team in our conference put the jersey of their best player on an injured who looked similar to him. First play of the game a kid with a random number we hadn't seen before scores on a long td. Someone checks twitter in the press box and the reporter at the game had the best players new jersey number for our game. We lost by a td.

A free t-shirt.
I would understand the argument for money if you are making money off of it. If not, a free shirt should suffice.

We have had heart issues detected a couple of times. But it really depends on where they go for the physical and how in depth it is.

Of course they do. The depth of that role depends on the situation, but coaches still play a role in recruiting. If I got the Manning kid, recruiters may not care about what I think, but for most kids they do--and some will care about a high profile kid as well. I had a kid who had offers from everybody. They all asked the same questions about him. When he was going into the professional baseball draft, I got calls from lots of scouts and GMs of major league teams asking those same questions we get about our players. I wasn't even his baseball coach and I got calls about him from those guys. I had 3 kids who received some amount of money to play college football in my career. I was never contacted about any of them by a recruiter. I asked around in my area and other coaches said they'd had similar experiences. The common theme was that with social media and Hudl colleges just didn't need to talk to the coaches anymore.
We are always contacted by the D1/1aa schools when they have interest. Smaller schools are a crap shoot. But most are just trying to get bodies into the school as it is.

Just finished year 19 and in year 4 of coaching three sports. I have 19 to go because of years in the Catholic school system. Could technically retire in 14 years but the penalty would to too much to make it worth it. If I don't get into admin at some point down the line I will coach until I retire. Maybe longer. Only thing I am sure of is it will not be three sports 19 years from now. Assuming I am still in education.

We were up 28-0 at half one year week 9. The opposing coach asked for a running clock in the second half. Then with about 3 minutes to go, he goes no huddle and used all 3 timeouts to get a score in and lose 34-6.

I've coached in a few games where we could have scored 100+ if we wanted to and there was no running clock rule. But no way our QB could have thrown 13 TDs because all those games included multiple TDs on defense and special teams.
Yeah I watched game this past year where the final was 79-0 and the winning team offense only had the ball 8 times.

Defer except under two circumstances.
#1. Playing a team who likes to play slow and bleed the clock.
#2 Playing a team who is far and above better than us. I would rather start the game with the ball 0-0 then start the second half down 35-0.

Personally like to practice 1v1 inside the ten since we are typically man in that situation. Specifically covering slants and back pylon fades. I do agree 1v1 where the Qb sits there for 4 seconds as the wr runs down the field is not too helpful.

It is interesting how things change every few years.
When I started coaching almost 20 years ago half the teams on our schedule were either some type of Double Wing or Flex Bone. I saw it this year for the first time in 8 years. We also went through a phase where virtually every team was no hudle and signaling in plays. This year the majority were not hurry up and less than half signaled.
We don't see another significant change until there is some type of rule change that comes along.

1. Cheating but should be caught by refs 2. Same as 1
3. We have a head coach in our conference that yells "poison" at the opposing returner every kick off. He also has known to change numbers and have injured kids of similar build stand on sidelines with the good players number on.
4. I actually coach our kids to stop blocking once a kid breaks one. It has been at least 7 years since we had a TD called back due to a dumb penalty when a kid was in open field.

Our cheerleaders got pendants when we won. They were basically the top of the ring we got. Of course they had to pay for them just like we did.

Non conference games are scheduled by the AD. Though only one in 17 years ever scheduled a game against the wishes of the head coach. Everyone else has worked with the HC on the decision. Unless they were asked for a buy game. Those have always been vetoed.

I can't remember ever having a significant varsity player who missed a lot of time in summer that wasn't because of another sport they were playing. We haven't had the issue of some kid just sitting at home playing video games or sleeping.

We are all getting them at my school in Illinois. We were half way done with track. Tennis is getting them and they had two days of practice before the shut down. Baseball had two weeks and Vball had one week.

That coach is an idiot. I do not understand why you would risk your job in this current environment.

If the spring seasons are cancelled, which is looking a lot more likely, I'd prefer to just go back in August and skip the summer. I doubt will be back before the 4th of July if there is summer contact days allowed.

Get the name of every player in the program. First find out who is not in a winter sport and start with them. Personally ask all of them personally if they plan on playing next season. If yes, find out what other sports they are involved in. That will make it easier to keep track of you need to and when.

We have used a quick kick a handful of time over the years. It has never worked out poorly.
The best result was once we had a 3rd and 35 from our 40. Our QB (who was also our punter) got it down to about the 15 then it rolled inside the 5. We eventually got a safety then scored a TD on ensuing kickoff.

Long story boring, the main arguments against districts are: 1) The initial vote passed largely because many schools that don't even play football voted for districts. 2) Buyer remorse. Even though the state association voted in favor of districts last year, once people got a look at how the districts were going to operate and be organized, it led to a lot of cold feet. 3) The plan was heavily dependent on districts being 9 or more teams. With declining enrollments in Illinois and greater numbers of school opting for 8-man football, that is going to be virtually impossible. At least that is my analysis of the results I didn't explain myself well. I don't understand any of this. I don't know what they're changing from and what they're changing to.
In Illinois the playoff field is not set until after week 9. The top 256 teams make the playoffs and then are placed by enrollment into 8 classes. Most conferences are a mix of schools who typically end up in different classes. Some conferences are a public/private mix. The biggest issue against districts is there are only a handful of big school teams in the St. Louis area and they would have to be in a district 300 miles away to even things out. Also, the public school football in Chicago is mostly atrocious and those schools would have been mixed with the Catholic powers. Which neither side wanted.

How many guys who start the Monday after the season end also spend six week in the summer before camps starts with their team?
I coach 3 sports so I wont even think much about football until May.

You would also think some of these places who can not even get applicant for jobs would take a look at their hiring process and maybe make it easier to at least get people to apply and interview. The city of Chicago is killing a lot of the local elementary school districts as they pay a lot more. It hasn't hit the high school districts because they pay well.
