Do you think the two teams you mentioned would have performed A LOT better with proper coaching? The option school needed more of an identity. Kids were coached well enough, offensively, but the staff didn't seem to recognize what was happening on the field. (this is the same school that runs a 4-3 Cov-0. Corners play 8 yards off, outside shoulder, eyes in backfield. No safety. They held us to under 60 yards of offense.... except for the 6 post routes to our fast slot receiver that went for 400 yards and 4 TD's) The Sling Dat B school needs more than just coaching help. Zero admin support. They go thru coaches faster than they turn the ball over on downs. They could be VEEERY good if the school program and community were all on the same page. Here we have a team who has a version of Tim Tebow that actually can throw (sling dat b*tch time to time), sadly, football is amateur so the QB is the HC and team's president. A player with plenty potential that is being wasted.

We always face at least one team who runs, as I call it, "Sling Dat B!!CH" They have a few good athletes. QB is a freak who runs around til he sees someone deep, then he slings dat b!!ch. They're usually good for 1 long QB run and a few deep balls a game. Keep everything in front of you and they wont score more than 6 (they never have a kicker) We also see the massive, slow white team running triple option who feel the need to run rocket every other play. Their smallest OL is bigger than anyone on our team yet luckily for us they wont give the dive more than 8 times a game, usually cuz they're in 3rd and long after we gang tackle their "fast" kid for a loss on rocket. SLING THAT BEACH IS BRAZIL IN A NUTSHELL Sorry for the caps but this describes perfectly hahah

Unless the player step in a hole or had perfect combo of at the same time high low hit from two defenders, all of the injuries could dramatically not happen due to a decent weight room program.
To lift weights will prevent when core stability and ankle mobility is limited or damaged. If you really cant have a weight room you must asap do body weight exercises. I would emphasis air squats, bulgarian split squat, air good morning, closed and elevated feet hip extension, planks (normal and side), step down for vmo and different type of push ups.

There was an old legendary “mad scientist” coach at my HS who allegedly went into a game with 14 players on a miserable day and won by punting the ball back as soon as it was caught. The returner would catch the ball, take what he could, and boot it back, so he kept their same 12 guys on the field all game while their D slowly froze to death on the sideline until the 4th quarter. Wait, what?

Well, you could use OBS to share your screen and youtube to do the transmition. You also can do it without the schedule requirement due to the fact it will save almost instantly within the youtube servers.

Reps>talking is a simple and productive equation for on field practice. One simple thing to do is never to talk or walk on the field, ever. If you are on the field is for the solo purpose of practice/game.

You need to have the base drills of each position, once you install them the players must know what you are working on it and the purpose. You only start to get deeper with the approach when the players have 100% knowledge of what they are doing, otherwise it will be a machine gun of lost reps.
Once you have your overall base you can work with the energy system based on your team's philosophy. If you are HUNH offense, offensively the drills time must emulate the actual time a play lasts, as well the rest (time between plays during a game). At the other side of the ball you do the same thing.
I mean it is a thing you could call cherry at the top of your program, because it is a major point to work however you need assistants, smart ones, to help you out. It suits more college and pro programs though. If you have the human resources go for it.

Kiss, twice a week a major exercises for each movement pattern/joint specific. Try to find 20 minutes window a day to warm up and do some mobility exercises, especially for the neck/back/hamstrings since you are a HC therefore dealing with stress and always on chair doing fb stuff.
Have specific playlists for your mood of the day while doing the lift and mobility exercises; for example somedays you wanna hear some heavy metal, other days some gangsta sh**t, idk your musical taste so dont judge me haha
It helped me last year as first time HC AND first time gym manager with 26 yrs old and sometimes the mind 20 yo lol

RPOs are not new... Brady has a run or pass option on every play. He just makes the read pre snap instead of post snap. I had option to throw bubble/smoke/slant any time it was there and that was 20 years ago Exactly, whenever a receiver is really wide open pre snap and it is not 3rd+8 or scoring situation, the receivers and QB know to convert it for a look pass.

Maybe because the system doesnt need it?
I mean, Brady get rid of the ball real quick and they use a lot the RBs as pass threats.
The way he is he might think that RPOs are kind of BS lol

Maybe it’s just me, but I really don’t see the same level of thought put into other sports as I see in highschool football. I.e.: their lack of respect for strength and conditioning If you think that is not ideal you need to see Brazil, we have one of the best DNAs for sport but we lack for any structure. Even for soccer I would start to follow this coaches below and try to contact them and see if they are available

It is sad for the players who now are left without where to live, the hotels were paid by the league. The injuried players also now need to pay for theier recovery. Rumors are that the league was to test the play-by-play thing that could be use with gambling.

So it is offseason, why not give it a shot. If you ever could teach Football as more than just a single class, but with the length of an associate degree, how would you elaborate the complete course?
Especially in this period with traditional schemes going "dead", probably they will be back in the future.

Why not use both worlds? You still need to get some tendencies for the draws, right? Victor Sure, and people would. That is why I asked "in which way". I actually used Excel to "create" my own editing system for a program that didn't have the $$ to get one. This was before the hudl software existed, when exchanges were VHS tape. Not as old as actual guys who had to cut up and splice reels of film, but not as young as the guys who have only used hudl..lol. My point was that you wouldn't do what is described in the article as "padding" with excel. It is a completely different process with different goals. Do you mind share the file, please? I have a great template from a "scout firm" down here but needs to do a rework since got some flaws with a lot of data. I didnt tell the owner of it because he would ge a lot of money from my idea lol

Thanks for the reply guys, I appreciate the answers above, but I totally understand it before, pardon my french but what i was trying to say is after you pad a full game (paper and pencil) is there a way to put it on the digital world?
I say that because if you read some not so old articles about Matt Patricia when he was climbing the coaching ladders he introduced a way of scout without use pen and papers to Belichick, mainly using the computer.
Therefore, is virtually impossible unless you have that fancy gadget that you draw on it and goes straight to the pc? Normally artist use it.
I mean after the end of the day, all that info you gathered will be mostly only in your head or you filter before to upload to word/excel/power point archive?
Btw I love to pad games and need to do back again, sadly I think I have some of adhd, making it hard to do that old school job

Anyone doing this using excel? in what way? I think some coaches here are confusing a game breakdown and obtaining some tendencies of the last 3 or 4 games with what is being described here. Why not use both worlds? You still need to get some tendencies for the draws, right?

Good question. I think there's a pretty consistent mindset, especially in big games for teams to take a shot after a TO. Maybe he's looking to see if McVay is getting overly excited or something? I don't know. I sometimes look at the other coach just to see how they're reacting to stuff we're doing but that might just be more for my pleasure if I see them suffering I recall on his dad's book to see how the other team reacts after a giveaway/takeaway to be ready properly

Thank you for the support but it is not what I am trying to do. I see that youth/middle school/small hs ball is not distance for what happens here. Coaches, even americans arent doing a great job without big time money behind. Sharing and translating experiences from america could help brazilians with ideas. Maybe I'm misinterpreting what you wrote, but I'm guessing that what you're saying is that you want to boost spectator interest in American football in Brazil. There are countries where certain sports have lots of participation but little spectation, & vice versa. In the USA since the 19th Century, soccer's been a big participant sport, but only at certain times & places a big spectator sport, while American football's always been a bigger spectator than participant sport. It's hard to convert one to the other, and when it comes to team sports (and even some individual sports) one gets up to a high degree of competition only where there is spectator interest. (For another example, see table tennis and badminton, comparing the Far East to elsewhere.) You will develop better coaching once you have enough people who don't (still) play the game watching games. Nope, just asking for the coaches who had experienced tough environments to share how they did it cause it is tough to coach here. The NFL is coming within a few years, dont need help on that

Hi Victor, from what I know, there are various US coaches and players who have been on Brazilian teams. I would suggest to reach out to them and ask them if they're willing to help you with that. Since they've experienced what it's like to coach/play in Brazil, they might have some interesting ideas. Another road you could take is asking coaches who coach European teams, as I think they go through the same difficulties you're facing in your country (2-3 practices a week, players who are also working/studying/raising families, etc.). If you need any help in reaching out to people, don't hesitate to send me a PM. Thank you for the support but it is not what I am trying to do. I see that youth/middle school/small hs ball is not distance for what happens here. Coaches, even americans arent doing a great job without big time money behind. Sharing and translating experiences from america could help brazilians with ideas. Judging the feedback I would have to, again, scavenge within here to come up with solutions like I did when I was coaching

Good luck with this, coach! It's great to hear about someone trying to grow this game elsewhere. If you can do some videos (a phone camera works fine for this stuff) that would probably help. It's usually much easier to show something visually than to try to describe it, especially when you have to translate to another language. People who make their money in media and communication have a saying: "video is king." I'd be willing to help write some basic stuff if you like, but you'd have to translate it. One thing to consider is that while you're dealing with older athletes, the type of situation you're in will have much more in common with youth football clubs in the USA. You may want to take a look at people who produce high quality materials targeted at the youth market (people like Dave Cisar, Clark Wilkins, Jack Gregory, etc.) for ideas. You can check the Youth section on this board for more guidance and check other forums that are more "youth-specific" for ideas. There are reasons that many good youth football programs are based around gap schemes and use wingbacks (Single Wing, Wing-T, Double Wing) and play very simple defenses. I say youth in terms to make it basic. But not THAT basic, here we suffer of trying to emulate what they see on tv without any base. I would appreciate a lot if you could help me.

I think I wasn't clear, tried to write on a passenger's seat while the car was moving. Not that easy for me lol. I am asking if somebody wanna help writing football 101 based on your experiences. Example: How to run a basic wing-t offense without talented players Don't do that. Just put the information out there. Let them figure out what does or doesn't work for their situation. Talent is relative to different areas. Don't dummy it down for them. Let them draw their conclusions. You have no idea how low football IQ is here.

About 18 months ago (sort of), I posted about football clinics here in the soccer's land. However, due to money ratio differences (4 br r$ to 1 us $) and being still a third world country, for now it is really hard to pay the expenses for a single coach.
Therefore, after stepping down as HC to health problems (stomach, stress, hair falling down), I will have time to read, translate and edit the material to publish to my website (he was dead the whole year because I was working on two different cities and finishing my degree).
The whole idea was simple essays/blog posts telling how to start a football program, how to run a x offense, y offense, defensively too. Here most of scenarios the coaches know almost nothing. They try to emulate what they see and gather random drills, mostly without any teaching technnique. We deal with young adults practicing 3x a week on best scenarios.
I feel that your stories could help a ton, we have between 120 to 150 amateur teams all around the country. We are the third biggest market, any coach with youth experencie and that knows how to manage people can make good competitive teams on the national scenario. I hope within two years bring at least a group of coaches.
This place helped me a ton to evolve as a coach, I wanna help others down here to achieve the same.
