I think some of this falls on admin.
where I coached the last 4 years, ALL football players had weights 3 days a week, ALL athletes had weights 3 days a week and we are in a district that does not really suppport or fight against athletics.
But we had a principal and AD that were VERY supportive of this idea of kids in the wieght room. Head coach and assistant were weights coaches and the VB coach did 1 period while they had prep.
where I am at now, kids lift in the AM before school. and we have great numbers, again 3 days a week. We run into problems when there is no school and we will have like 6-10 kids in on average. BUT all other sports do there stuff at the same time we lift so we only get the kids that are not in season. we were very lucky though.

I am wanting to know what are some of the thing that you head coaches deligate to your assistants? Are there some things you will only assign to certain assistants? What are some things that you guys assign that could be out of the norm?
Thanks for reponding!

I have something id like to add to this.
How many of you guys feel comfortable moving your frosh/jv guys up when a spot comes open? A lot of programs dont do this. Part of the reason I left the program I was in (which was first class) was I felt I would never get "called up"

In my new position this year I am also taking over the roll of "equipment coach." I will have full control of our equipment room.
How have some of you guys organize it? Do you use a single coach that is incharge of keeping it up? Any thoughts on this would help. Thanks.

At the school I just left, we had split staff. V/JV practiced on same feild with same varsity coaches. Frosh had own staff.
there were about 35 Varsity only guys and the rest played in the JV game.
On fridays we would dress 60 kids. JV contributors, and a few frosh. We did that with the frosh as insentive. A few years ago we even got some frosh into the game (won that won 68-0) up 56-0 at half. The list changes every week, even for the JV kids. we only try to dress kids that could be contrucutors and kids that would not piss down there leg if that got the chance to play.
