Last year we had the luxury of being able to 2 platoon. Not so this season. I believe in Malzahn book he states that 1 platooning with the Hurry Up No Huddle isn't as big of a deal as long as your opponents also 1 platoon.

We attend one each year. It has not value in terms of how good your team will actually be in the upcoming season but we do use it as a reward for the big guys who put their time into our off season program. Some additional events not mentioned: 1. 20 yard 5 man sled push. (lowest time wins) 2. Shiver ball relay- Make an obstacle course for the linemen to push the shiver ball around, lowest time wins 3. Sumo- Use a DL pass rush hoop, Have the Linemen get chest to chest. On whistle they attempt to push the other guy outside the ring. 4. Feed them- Always fun for the big guys!

Heard Paul Pasqualoni and Dave Solazzo this past month. Both incredibly intense and no nonsense. Pasqualoni talked about running a program which was awesome. Pulls no strings and is completely honest. Tells it like it is. Solazzo talked about DL play. His enthusiasm for the position oozes out of him. You can tell he wants his kids to be the best possible. I would highly recommend both!

What are your best ways of getting players out for your football team? Do you stress their attendance to your weightroom program? Do you just want them to come out once football starts? Just some background of the school i'm at: Inner-City school district, 1000 students grades 9-11, very good success with football but still known as a "basketball school", pop warner has traditionally been big in the area but numbers are dwindling. We have always had a pretty good turnout each year for fooball- about 35-40 kids per JV and Varsity(no Frosh team) but I feel we can get more kids out. Especially the students who feel they are only basketball players. What have you done in the past to get students to want to come out for your team?
