Lot of openings right now. I think between the men you mentioned, plus Flores and Morris, I could see 3 or 4 of them landing jobs in the coming days I left out Brian Flores and Raheem Morris, thanks for the additions. After last night...add DeMeco Ryans to the list!

The FOX NFL crew was discussing this issue.
Host Curt Menafee said "It shouldn't take Black people to hire Black people."
He had a point.

The NBA is run by players, NOT COACHES. The NBA is 80 pct power black. And shannahan, billicheck hired flores, mayo, and ryans.

No kidding the qb is not managment… that is the point. Stating that predominantly white management seemingly has no qualms about hiring black labor has nothing to do with the evidence showing the same is not true for management positions. Stating examples that of white HC hiring black assistants has nothing to do with the discussion of minority HCs. Although actually it may bolster the claim that additional steps need to be taken since it shows that when engaged in day to day contact with minorities as potential applicants they seem to be hired at a greater rate than when the hiring decision comes from executive level positions

Somebody has to hire you. And shouldn’t take black to hire a black is not dinstinction.you can’t selectively choose the the application of the word racism. To suggest minorities need help however one gets there is derogator, and racist. It not suggested that everybody needs methods of assistance,

So please in COHERENT SENTENCES (unlike your usual posts) , explain why “somebody” has hired minority asst coaches such that they represent 35% of the coaching workforce but only 6% of the Head Coaching positions.

You left out all the groups. Can you explain why those owner you say are racist here, are signing over 4 billion a year to black players? By your definition they are racist. That is a lot of money to sign over when you are racist.

Stop equating the two. It is different.

And are out of The League before they qualify for an NFL pension. Meaning by the time they're in their mid-20s most pro football careers are over. And so are their checks.

At $660,000 ….if I reach the highest rate of pay as a teacher, I would have to teach 25 years after I reach that rate of pay for the pay of a player exiting the league after year 3. Those racist owners. On top of that, pension plan is 43k.. I believe there are coaches here who are not making that. 3 year you can collect a pension from the NFL. awmcap.com/blog/nfl-retirement-plan

Lots of white head coaches who have failed have gotten second and even third bites of the apple. It's good to see that some black coaches who were not successful the first time around are getting another chance. Yup. God knows someone is out interviewing Norv Turner as we speak.

As an ignorant European coach, I am probably not best positioned, but I’m still going to give you my observations:
Players - Teams select players through draft or offseason signings, based on a multitude of mostly tangible parameters (some intangible), such as (in order of relevance):
Tangibles: Combine data: Size, Weight, speed, COD, IQ test results... Gamefilm grades On the field production (Stats) Win/loss-record
Intangibles: Personality (and still, the players are put under a microscope here) Team status (there is a difference between an Alabama player and a DIII university player, but it is hard to quantify this)
Teams are really geared towards finding the perfect draft pick or the perfect off-season signing. Heck, they have entire scouting departments, responsible for identifying the best players for their team. Additionally, team ownership typically is not involved with the hiring of players
This to me makes the hiring of players based on merit. As the data show that more black players are NFL-worthy, you find that 70% of the players in the NFL are black.
Coaches - teams select coaches who they think will guide them to the promised land, but now there is a far more limited list of tangible parameters, so the teams have to direct themselves to more intangible parameters, again in my assumed order of relevance.
Tangibles: Past offensive/defensive stats Win/Loss record Gamefilm grades (I put this at the bottom, as it is hard to grade the coach on the player performance, if the player in question is chicken shlt)
Intangibles: Coaching philosophy Cultural fit Organizational skills How does the lockerroom respond to him? How does he interview?
To me, there is hardly enough information to make a good hire on tangibles alone. I also have never heard of an NFL scout, which only job is to assess the work of NFL coaches of other teams, so there is no way they can expand on the tangibles. As there is hardly enough tangible data to base the assessment of a good hire on, the teams have to turn to intangibles, such as coaching philosophy and whether the coach would be a good cultural fit.
With basically all teams in white ownership (except for the Jags?) and ownership typically being heavily involved, I can see how the white ownership steers towards what they know culturally and therefor away from what they don’t know. As a matter of fact, there are many management books written, stating that managers typically are biased towards hiring people who act and behave like them. I wonder how much that bias shines through. This to me is not hiring on merit, but (at least) partially on gut feeling.

Coaches don't have a union. They negotiate with the teams (owners). HCs are making at least five times that, of which currently only two are minorities.

You claim racism by defining it to fit a narrative(AND YOU AN ENGLISH MAJOR>>OK) Then cry racism by that group and your solution is to have the white people in congress, ownership, media, teachers to give them the equal opportunity…RACISM and both sides of it. AMAZING. And on top of top of that you openly suggest they are not capable of creating their opportunities i.e racist. ANd you are making assumption with all the information. How many people are applying for these job. Who is getting interviews, how did the interviews go. Which is bias. And as english teacher you should know your thesis statement is way to broad.
