As far as the political part--just keep in mind who first turned a medical issue into a political one. I would wager that if you go back and look at it, it probably wasn't who you think it was. Hoax, under control, will magically disappear in April, weird arm move, great ratings... Not trying to take this in a political direction at all, just addressing the little "casual" political statements many like to make.

Missouri- We'll play some games, but I'm guessing 5? KC schools are going online, that takes them out. Hazelwood school district is out (STL). Funny, lots of schools (us included) are shut down because of a positive test, but others are having camp this week.

Funny, lots of schools (us included) are shut down because of a positive test, but others are having camp this week. The variability is going to be the factor. Look at MLB. 2 days in and they are having cancellations and shut downs, and their entire purpose is to play baseball. It seems like it would be harder to navigate these waters when sports is just a extra part of the purpose (school)

From what I understand too, per our state (Mo) - Must wear mask unless playing (Does that count sidelines?) , must social distance on the bus (Hard enough to find bus drivers, now we have to take 4 instead of 2? Lord help us is softball and CC have events the same day).
Again, not the place to debate the political side or health side, but how is this gonna be possible? Hasn't happened yet, but I would assume, all sub varsity games will be cancelled at some point. How are you gonna tell kids to wear mask, etc till 3pm then go play ball? What happens the first time a kid gets sick? What does that do to scheduling?
I know we all love the game, and want a season, but dang, how we gonna do this?

From way I read the rule yes they’ll have mask on unless playing. It’ll be interesting. I asked to cancel our sub varsity games. The email from mshsaa addresses all this.

Our governor in Tennessee just made an exception to his emergency order that runs until the end of August, allowing H.S. football to resume immediately.
This is odd because our cases have skyrocketed, especially locally, over the past month and our state’s ICU capacity is projected to be completely overran within weeks. All of the school districts close to me are starting the year online or postponing opening for at least the next 1-4 weeks, but we’ll still be trying to play HS football, even as our local healthcare providers (one of whom I now work for) is begging people to stay home and distance as much as possible.
While under the emergency order, our state association got together and issued a bunch of rules adjusting the season, including cutting the first round out of the playoffs and reducing the regular season to an 8+2 format where we play 8 games instead of 10, but non-playoff teams can schedule 2 more at the end if they’re left out. Then there are the temperature checks, mask requirements, etc. The whole thing is making this season an absurd mess that will just get worse.
The situation with the Marlins should be a cautionary tale for all sports. How is something worse not going to happen with HS football teams who play in front of large crowds?

It will take a death which is said to say. That. Heres just my prediction: We start 8/10 as planned. Around 8/20 schools start pausing sports due to positive cases (about the time classes start). We miss week 1, we start playing week 2, maybe make it to week 4 before it all shuts down for good.

In reality, as much as I hate to say it, FB should either be shelved for 2020 or....maybe allow schools to play a series of intra-squad scrimmage games within themselves to throw the seniors a bone. No travel / bus issues, no scheduling issues and no contact with other teams. It would be something and if covid occurs you can easily shut it down and say you tried. I know it's not ideal but gives us something and is as safe an alternative under current circumstances as I can think of while still giving seniors something.

If we are of the mind that pausing sports for x reason is real, then we shouldn’t play. That is not the same thing as we should play. But kids are going to go back to school whether they want to or not.

Here’s my take:
A lot of schools are having classes virtually and others may have to do so with even one positive case. To try to play football when just being in the classroom has either been ruled out or is in a very tenuous state is stupid.

We got the deal with a lot of schools starting the year virtual. That makes them ineligible to play. Class 6 and five are going to be whittled down. The justification of not being at school cause your worried about covid but have practice and games can't be. My district hasn't said anything and I'm guessing they will hold out as long as they can.

So, for those states who expect players to wear masks while they're on the sideline ... where are they supposed to put their mask when they go into the game?

So, for those states who expect players to wear masks while they're on the sideline ... where are they supposed to put their mask when they go into the game? We're selling neck gaiters as a fundraiser and all our kids got one. It stays on all the time, but probably breaks some kind of NFHS rule on uniforms.

I wear my gaiter all the time, but cant imagine playing ball with it on! I can easily see some kid having his gaiter grabbed from behind and it dropping around his throat. It almost becomes like a noose in that situation.

Haha then have them wear a turtle neck. I like how they want this done. Looks like most of the St Louis schools are out. Now I can see the state making an exception. Again if it is to dangerous to be in school how can you say it is alright for sports.

Again if it is to dangerous to be in school how can you say it is alright for sports. This is where every argument for playing football fails. There’s simply no sensible answer to this question. *FTR, I think we should be wide open on everything but if it’s determined by the PTB that classrooms are unsafe for students you can’t justify football.

Again if it is to dangerous to be in school how can you say it is alright for sports. I’ve wondered if they’ll flip back on that rule. I wouldn’t think so but never know these days. I’ve heard rumors of a handful of big KC schools going virtual but nothing official yet. Problem they’re running into is the amount of kids in the building. They’re offering options to go virtual or return but majority of parents/kids do not want to go virtual and they can’t fit that many kids in the building based on guidelines. So they have no idea how they’re gonna make it work. Schools like yours and mine don’t have the numbers problem obviously. State said if school goes full virtual education then no sports for them as a reference to others.
