I read the book a few years ago and I loved it. Even just reading part of it gets me pumped up to go coach. And yeah I was able to see just a couple clips of their offense and I watched their O-line play, and it was just amazing how fast they are able to get off the line.

The whole injury thing for me thinkin. We are a wishbone team and only had one major injury this year in a game. Obviously we love to run and we had a quarterback that loved hitting people more than pitching it and shying away. So when did the major injury occur... when our corner went up and intercepted a pass and had his leg broken. One would think we would have a lot more running the ball so much, but our guys rarely had the chance to get up to full speed in the hole. Just my two cents when they talk about how much safer it is.

I agree with wingtol about the 20 min period on the opposite day. We used this same format one year when I was in high school, and monday was nothing but offense with the exception of a 20 minute defensive period at the end. It went pretty well for us, and our guys could just focus on one position that day.

I would for sure take the 30 yard pop every time. And as for the fans getting more excited in the stands, it may sound bad, but I honestly couldn't care less. I am on the sidelines to help my kids win and to put them in the best situation in order to do that. I'm not there to entertain the fans. I'm hoping that if they are there at our games, they should already be excited enough.

I agree with kakavian. That is part of the reason that I love running the ball so much. Not only do the opposing players become sore, worn out, and tired, but it affects them mentally because they KNOW they are getting beaten and outmanned every play.

I am 23 and just finished my first year of coaching. As for the drawing up plays, I am finishing college right now and you should see my notebooks in class, lol.
