anyone else find this game boring?
neither team is particularly good at anything (accept defense, coach Phillips has those guys dialed in). it feels like a show then it does a championship game.

Yeah I feel like Carolina isn't playing their game at all They're not doing the things they've done successfully all year Trying to change what they do for this game... I don't like it
Also, I'm a big conspiracy theorist... NFL wants Peyton to win To many him vs Cam represents old vs new Good vs bad

Injuries have cost Carolina, but agree they are not the same team.
Also, Phil Simms is horrible!

The best part of this game was Lady Gaga singing the National Anthem.
I wished that Jim Nance would say: "Shut up Phil", kinda like Dan Fouts did to Brent Musberger in The Waterboy!

Boo to you guys. That Denver defense was a lot of fun to watch. i like how simple it is. they were not doing anything special or confusing. just pin your ears back and play ball. one thing i found interesting, was that their DE's get upfield FAST. i kept looking for a trap....

I honestly think the MVP Award should have been given to Wade Phillips.

The defenses made it interesting to me and Cam Newton had the meltdown I half expected him to. When he backed away from jumping on his own fumble late in the 4th, I knew the Panthers had never really had a chance, even after trying like hell for 3 quarters to give the game away, anyway.
It was a pretty dull Super Bowl, though. No real memorable offensive plays at all and even the Budweiser commercials were boring.

The blown call on the challenge at the beginning of the game was huge and set the tone. Next play was a fumble for a TD that would have never happened if the refs had the guts to reverse their call. Amazing how little things like that can change the flow of the game. Then the avalanche starts and it's tough to get out of the way. When Newton read the option well it was devastating but he missed a lot of reads and they stopped calling it. If you can't block Ware and Miller read em. No screens or draws to take the pressure off. I don't know. For me it was a very disappointing game and not just because I bet on Carolina. Poor refereeing, poor announcing, poor camera work, poor offensive play calling. Might have been the worst ever performance by a super bowl winning QB.Give me HS or NCAA ball any day. Lady Gaga was amazing though. And win or lose there's always booze.

Agree but it happens to the best of them especially when it costs a TD in a low scoring affair. I guess I am sour as an offensive guy that the offences were so bad. And I know the dark side guys will say that's because the defences were so good but you still gotta have some answers in a game of this magnitude.

Denver was sending 5 or 6 constantly, its time to throw some 3 step, run draws/traps/screens...something. you cant expect to throw verts every down and win......

I don't completely understand it, either, but Carolina did get some big plays by keeping extra guys in to protect and throwing downfield in the second half. They just couldn't string anything together or hold onto the ball. They did throw short a few times, but seldom got much of a gain out of it. Newton has never been the kind of QB to pick a defense apart with precise, patient short passing and the Panthers' receivers just lacked the speed to do anything with the ball once they caught those, so I can understand why they never found their mojo that way. Carolina's offense is really all about running the ball, holding onto the ball, and throwing deep off PA with some options and misdirection to give their running game a few wrinkles other NFL teams don't have. When they couldn't hold onto the ball or get the running game going, they were in for a long night. I'm glad to see Peyton Manning go out on top, but man, did he show his age tonight. The Broncos won because he was patient and didn't try to make it all about himself like he did the last two times his team was in the Super Bowl. That was the worst offensive team to win a Super Bowl since the 2000 Ravens.

Panthers offense didn't do the things they do that make them tick. No power read (which I was expecting because of the ends rushing up the field). Too many drop back passes IMO but who am I to question Ron Rivera and his NFL coaching staff.

Denver's secondary is for real and with that pass rush they are even better. Plus Carolina was Ina lot of 3rd and toughs.

Must be a bunch of Offensive coaches on this board. Denver's D was outstanding, the quickness of the edge rushers, the interior pressure and physical corners and safeties. You want to stop spread offenses here is the D. Enjoy and appreciate that unit, a lot of special talent. Not a great game from an offense perspective but from a defense perspective a beautiful game and special teams played a part as well. Football is more than just a fancy offense.

Carolina d wasnt too shabby either. Denver only scored 2 tds: one fumble for td, another which cam didnt dive on also gave denver a very short field.

Neither offense was very good as they didn't do a lot to adjust to the others' D. I like Cam Newton but holy hell did that team overachieve this season with their lack of WR depth, hence why Olsen had a ridiculous season (not that he isn't really good at what he does). If Peyton is smart he retires, the nerve damage the game has done to him on top of the fact he owns a ton of Papa John's restaurants, he'll get by just fine without football.

Peyton is drinking some Buds and thinking about how many new Papa John's to open in and around Denver in a few years when the population of Colorado spikes as a result of their win last night. To me the game was a combination of great defense an offenses being sloppy. Some of that I think was caused by the great defenses. Carolina's D is not bad either.

Those were two outstanding defenses. Everyone is saying that Carolina didn't adjust, but both teams tried to make adjustments that went nowhere because the defenses were just too good. Denver had stripping the ball down to an art form.

Denver had stripping the ball down to an art form. Agreed. I enjoyed watching the defenses last night and how good they were. I am sure we have all been in games where no matter what you do nothing gets going on O and the other teams D just seems to have your number, stop what they do and make them uncomfrotable. Saw that both ways last night. No matter what you do the other team seems all over it and I am sure there were a bunch of things those coaches saw that we couldn't, unless you were watching the all 22.

Kudos to John Elway for going out making the acquisitions they needed on defense. They were lights out last night, and really all year. Holy He!! Von Miller is fast!! And as soon as you think he's blocked, Ware will come in to make a play. And they're secondary was fast and physical. Very entertaining game to watch if you like defense. Yes, Carolina's offense wasn't as sexy as advertised and Peyton did what he needed to to manage the game. But like someone else already said, he didn't try to do too much like his last few SB's. He knew his role and played it nicely.

Another overlooked factor:
Colquitt averaged 45.6 yards per punt, usually pinned Ginn Jr. to sideline (three returns for two yards).
Denver's only PR went for 61 yards.
Broncos were 3-for-3 on FGs, Panthers 1 of 2.

Well I certainly agree that a championship team should not let 1-3 calls cost them, bad calls do matter. I tell our kids the same things. You have to forget the bad call and move on. But again, bad calls do matter. That being said, Carolina got a few bad calls, nothing horrible and they should have been able to overcome the calls. That also being said, I would have liked to see the game with challenge ruled a catch. But of course I was rooting for Carolina.
