Musberger reagained my alliegence in one phrase last night, "Security will be called out to deal with an idiot." I just wish announcers would be that to the point all the time.

One of my favorite Musberger moments was during a broadcast of a Cal Berkeley game before they had broken ground on the new stadium renovations and there were a bunch of protesters camping out in the oak trees outside Memorial stadium. I forget exactly what he said, but his tone of voice made it crystal clear that he hated every single one of them for being 'dirty hippies' (not an actual quote, but definitely the gist). I laughed hysterically every time they showed the outside of the stadium for the rest of the game, it was such a beautiful moment of crotchety-old-man who yells at the young generation.
For the record, I thought they were annoying morons, too, but hearing Brent Musberger so clearly show his disdain on national TV was just wonderful.
As to what CoachD said, for me it's kind of therapeutic. I dunno if you ever read Fire Joe Morgan, but that was one of my favorite blogs for a while because of the way it made it more tolerable to deal with Joe Morgan and baseball announcing in general.

Was it just me or did Herbie come off as having a man crush on Gilbert and the 'Horns as a whole? I would love to see Leach doing play by play,if only for one game.

So the kid (a young teach at the school) they have doing the local high school games says, "The ruling on the field" every time the officials make a call. Uhhh, do you see any television cameras? This is high school; the field is the only place there are any rulings.

During the Jets/Bengals game, the Jets lined up in an Off-set I with Brad Smith at QB. According to NBC's Tom Hammond this is now the "Wildcat under center." You gotta be kidding me...

I'm just waiting until the day when someone throws an old school HB or double pass with their "Wildcat" QB. It'll be treated as some innovative new "Wildcat" concept...

I don't see where he is wrong here. The "wildcat" is a personnel/assignment thing where someone with a different skill set--strengths, and weaknesses--than the "usual" guy receives the ball from the center. It originated as a shotgun depth snap, but they decided to use a hand to hand delivery method on this play.

I also have a hard time even calling it the Wildcat with Brad Smith. The guy was a QB his whole life until the NFL. It's not like McFadden running it at Arkansas. With Smith, I would call it "the backup QB with different strengths is in, and he also does some other stuff too (receiver, returning kicks, etc.)."
