You have referenced your "Mentor" in several recent posts. Don't know if you played for him, but obviously you work with him now. Why does he coach Football? imagine this... he actually loves football. And first and foremost. Helping kids is a side benefit. So - he (and by extension you) coach Football primarily because you like the sport. "Helping kids" is not a motivation for either of you, just something YOU (not the kids) may get as a "side benefit"?

His spin his different than mine, but we both can blame ithere mistakes on being kids. He would tell you it is far better than his “career.” I view teaching as fun and easy. Everything about my gig is a blast. The kids don’t need me. I am an example who is, as kids tends to do, exposed as fatally flawed. I don’t view my role as there parent, guiding light. I will tell them how I see it. But my first reaction is go to your parents. I just coach and teach. Here is my mark on them:“I make 60 grand to do nothing, have summers off, work 6 hrs a day. And coach football.” Kids help me as much if not more than I help them. They keep it real.

I'm sorry.....you can pretend or just tell yourself that you don't have a role to play as their "guiding light" all you want to excuse whatever behaviors make you "fatally flawed", but you have a responsibility to them and it goes way beyond "doing nothing" for 60 grand. In fact, if you're doing nothing for 60 grand AND telling them that's how teaching and coaching works, you need better mentors or you need to get out. in fact, just doing nothing at school begs the question of just how sorry are the administrators who let you do that? I'm sure the other teachers at your school must hold you in high regard for doing nothing. Someone doing nothing might be better off keeping it to themselves rather than bragging about it. Just the opinion of an old guy who would prefer the profession be just that--a profession.

I figured I'd put this here.
The two biggest Feed the Cats programs that I'm aware of in my area have won fewer games and advanced less far (I think that's how I want to say it) in the playoffs since adopting this method. Previously, both were big weight room programs with multiple state championships and at least one was a perennial semifinal, championship contender. Like, 10 years in the semis/finals. Over the past 4 years I don't believe either has advanced past the second round.
Just an observation.

Has conditioning been a problem in your games? I am currently researching it. We were constantly gassed at the end of games prior to doing 10 110's after practice. We got better quickly when we conditioned last year. Mostly 2 way players. Not trying to be mean or get on you, but we need to rethinking Conditioning and Speed work. That’s way too much, especially for your big guys and is training them to be more endurance than speed guys. Also, it’s really hard on bigger athletes, especially if it’s timed. It’s basically having them run 2/3 of a mile at a full sprint. Honestly I think this kind of stuff is one of the major reasons we have so many big men die during off-season workouts. Instead you could run up tempo in practice, even if you’re a slow down, huddle team, or spread shorter sprints out throughout practice, say a half gasser (50 ish yards full sprint) and then shift to next practice period/ area.

Hybrid systems where you hit the weightroom hard and do speed based training and conditioning can be done well. Especially if you cycle through periodized lifting plans. I would dare suggest a Soviet style weighroom program with the Feed the Cats speed system could be very successful. Build power and actually lift more weight while training at a higher volume, decreasing the chance for injury. And before any of you call me a Commie half or more of y’all run the most communist of offensive systems, the spread zone read/ option.
