I have a question for the schools that pass out a lot of gear (multiple shirts, shorts, shoes, etc...). Was this done at just the varsity level or was it done at the sub-varsity level too? If so, did that include middle school programs or just freshman/JV? Thanks in advance.

Vicis is owned by the same company as Schutt. You could try them but that company in general has been a disaster in my experience. I've tried contacting them with zero replies but I haven't tried calling which might be your best bet. These guys deal with NFL teams, you would think they would have their stuff together better than they do. The vicis helmets do great on the helmet tests but they also cost a lot more and their customer support is awful.

Just wanted to chime in on this a little further. We've been using ProCom for 5 years now and they have been outstanding headsets. This past winter I started working part time as a sales rep for them. If anyone wants any info please let me know and I'll get you all the info and provide a quote. A few things we like about them.
* Work in every stadium we have played and have been used in NFL and college stadiums throughout the country. We have used these without issue at Ford Field and Michigan Stadium. * Option of wire free all-in-one or belt pack - Can mix and match and choose your preference. * Totally plug and play. Power them on and they just work. No base station. * All coaches can use every channel. Up to 6 channels depending on which system you go with and expandable to 20+ coaches. * Can split payments over 2 or 3 years like the previous post mentions.
There's a lot of other features I didn't touch on that I can provide in more detail to anyone interested. I can also get a list of schools in your area if you want to talk to some schools that use ProCom.

You bought a Lev Sled without knowing exactly how it works (or doesn't)? Why? I'm not sure where that was ever implied. I know how the sled works. If the video above was clear enough here's another example of colleges making the Lev sled stationary. I don't have a wall to use it against, I understand how it works, it's fine to use as a sled, and there are benefits to it being stationary for drills as well.

Couldn't you just drive some fence posts behind it? We're on turf which is part of the issue, grass I think there's quite a few things we could do.

What silkyrice said, there are lots of drills to work hips/leverage, punch without wanting to drive a sled all over the place and getting in the way of other drills, or spending time spinning it back around once it gets moved to a certain point. Here's just one quick example I found of using the sled without driving...

Besides adding weight like sand bags or several coaches, has anyone found a good method to keep your lev sled stationary? Has anyone tried wheel chocks to keep it from sliding?

Getting a TEK sled soon. It has been shipped. Will give my thoughts after Spring training. Hey Coach, just checking back in to see if your sled arrived and if you had a chance to try it out and provide some feedback. Thanks!

Can anyone who has used both comment on this? I really like the idea of the TEK sled, especially for DL. How about for OL? I'm thinking of replacing our LEV sled with a TEK sled and then passing down the LEV sled to our lower levels and want to make sure I wouldn't be losing anything significant by doing so.

Does anyone have a good off-season checklist that they can provide? I realize every program is a little bit different, but I'm taking over a program and want to make sure I'm not missing any of the essentials that every program must take care of in the off-season. Thanks in advance.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback so far. The feedback on snap that I have read has never been all that good, so I would tend to shy away from them. Sounds like high fees and poor customer service. I will take a look at fanangel, that's one I have not researched a lot. I would say this though, I know a lot of coaches look at the percentage they keep, and I get that, but I would also say that 80% of a big number is still more than 90% of a small number. In other words, if a certain platform has a system that, for whatever reasons, generates more donations, then it may be more 'profitable' to go that route, even if you are giving up a larger percentage of the revenue. Given this, I'd be curious if any of you have found that a certain platform has better participation rate than others or that people are more likely to donate with one platform over another. cqmiller - Who is the company you're going with now? We also do card sales as well as a golf outing. If we go with the online option it would become our big spring fundraiser. realdawg - Those are the three fundraisers we would end up using. I like the online option for the reasons you gave, pretty simple, minimal work relative to other options, and also gets us away from asking the same people we do for our other two fundraisers. We are fortunate in that we are in a pretty affluent area where I think this type of fundraiser will do well.

For those that have used companies like vertical raise, snap raise, etc... What was your thoughts on the company or companies you worked with? We have a few big fundraisers but something like vertical raise would give us a chance to branch out a bit and hit up extended family and people that may not be right in the community. Some of the numbers they advertise are pretty impressive for a three week campaign but that might not be the norm so I'm curious to hear what the successes or perhaps failures are with these models.

We're looking at buying chutes and I have the same question others have had. We had issues on our old chute with the mesh netting so I do like the idea of getting rid of that. Other than the difference in width (5 vs 8 feet) is there any other differences to be aware of?

Not ideal but we did ours virtually. It went well, parents were very complementary of it. We usually introduce the kids and say a little bit about each one so as we talked about each kid I had slideshow going and each kid had a slide with their name, number and picture from the program. Then we did our awards the same way. Overall went well and I think parents appreciated it.

Out of the Power 5's its hard not to mention Iowa St. Can add Indiana to the list. Always have to take a backseat to their Basketball team. I think Allen has done a tremendous job at Indiana. The kids there seem to love playing for that guy.

Army, really any of the service academies. And I don't mean "least" as an insult. Not getting a bunch of 3,4,5 stars. Size restrictions. Grade requirements. The list goes on. Those kids are special, and the fact they are successful is a huge compliment to the coaches and kids. I'd have to agree... Their success I think is in large part due to the types of kids they get. I don't know the answer to this but what are some examples of their coaches going on to coach at other places?

I think as a coach, and I assume I'm not alone, we often look at the 'best' programs to see what they run schematically and see if there is anything we can steal from what they do. The problem with doing that, particularly in college, is that these top teams often have the most talent year in and year out. As the old saying goes, it's not the x's and o's it's the Jimmy's and Joe's. So out of curiosity, what college coach or program out there have you noticed recently doing to the most with the least? Is there a perhaps unrecognized or underappreciated coach or staff that would be worthwhile looking into rather than the Bama's and Clemson's of the world? This doesn't have to be limited to scheme, it could also apply to player development as well. Curious to hear some thoughts on this.

Does anyone have the ground mount Tek or lev sled or something similar... www.rogersathletic.com/tek-sled-outdoor-ground-mount/www.rogersathletic.com/lev-sled-outdoor-ground-mount/I'm wondering how it mounts into the ground. It says it needs concrete so I am guessing it can't easily be removed. We don't have an ideal area for it to permanently be so it would be great if somehow it detached from the ground and could easily be moved to a different spot when not in use. Anyone able to comment on this or any other similar system.

Thanks, thinking that could be a good easy fundraiser for our lower levels to run. Did the fundraising company suggest a specific time of year that works best?

With the media guide, you want the Front inside page and Back outside page to cover the cost of production. After that, everything is profit. We do a discount card an require every kid to sell 8 cards at $20 apiece. At 8 kids they get practice shorts / shirt. At 20 cards sold, they get a free card (to sell or keep) and an incentive (Nike Elite socks or something equivalent). At 25 cards sold, they get another free card and another incentive (think wind jacket embroidered / book bag / gloves etc...). The last incentive is at 30 cards for another free card and a nice jacket, or fleece, etc.. We have profited over $27,000 the past two years from this. Our 2nd big fundraiser is with a mattress company that takes out the middle man and the brick/mortar to sell at a discounted price. We get $100 per mattress and have made$3800 the past two years. We also do a webstore with a local apparel guy that can net close to $1000 alone. For the mattress fundraiser that you do, did you make $3800 per year? Also, how big of a school district do you have? Just curious what it takes to sell 38 mattresses to net you the $3800 you've made off the fundraiser.

Are you implying that the staff and students had no knowledge of what to do? First off the situation was triggered by a fire alarm. After that the school went into a lockdown drill. I would imagine that most districts in the country have procedures for this and practice them. There are 3000+ students in that school, perhaps dozens or hundreds of lives were actually saved because of that. What I think Bob is trying to say here is that of opportunity cost and I think it's valid. That doesn't mean we can't have a discussion on it, or that we can't do some basic preventative measures, but even with the best training in the world I don't see that it will stop crazy from being crazy.

I understand being proactive but I also feel we're an extremely reactionary society when it comes to events like this. This is going to be an unpopular opinion but there are many ways in which we could die that are even more likely to occur and yet we won't be anymore proactive in preventing those from happening. I don't think there's any problem with basic proactive measures and teaching students what to do but if an individual is dead set on harming people I don't think securing entrances, arming teachers, etc is going to stop an individual. What happens before and after school? How would you stop that type of attack? Look at the Las Vegas shooting as an example. Unless we stop living life I don't see how you can completely stop this from happening. I think all of the "security measures" are just putting lipstick on a pig. Unfortunately, until we are ready to attack the core of the problem this will continue to happen.

I looked into them last year but couldn't get anyone to talk to me. IIRC the percentage is a sliding scale, the more you make the less they take. Yes the have a dashboard where you can look at donations from each player's contacts. I liked their stuff and would have used them over Hudl Campaign if they would have worked with me. didnt HUDL get rid of hudl campaign? A lot of people have said they're getting rid of it, but it's still on our account. When I asked support about it they said if it's still up then we have it available.

I tried to search the forum but couldn't find the answers to this.
1) How much does Snap Raise take in fees? I couldn't locate their fee structure.
2) Will it allow you to see how much each athlete raised?
3) How does it compare with Hudl campaigns for those that have used both? I know Hudl campaigns are supposedly going away but we still have the option of using it as of right now. I know their fees are pretty low but does it work as well?
4) Are there better alternatives to Snap Raise that work in a similar fashion?
Thanks in advance!
