I would start with local high school and middle school programs first. Some will have old equipment the have never gotten rid of because it can be costly to get hauled away. They may give it to you as long as you come pick it up or for very cheap. Do you think i should individualize each message or can i send out a mass email?

Good morning, I have been coaching youth football for four years now the team i was with last year had a give man sled. I think the five man sled is important when teaching blocking and driving. I am currently looking for a website or store in florida that will sell used equipment. I am also looking for a chute as well. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I understand that coaches talk a certain way,I would like to ask how many of you coaches actually yell and curse at players. I coach 10 year olds and from what I've heard from these coaches is appalling i really dont understand how coaches can curse at a 10 year old. Maybe im just getting wet behind the ears but do you coaches curse at your players? I try not to curse around children at all, but sometimes it slips out.
Besides, it's baseball where they're supposed to learn cursing, right? Or is it in the Scouts?
I understand it slipping out but they do it intentionally.

We do. Usually at 9am. We come in and cleanup field house because we don't after games. We do our warmup. 1-2 minutes. Jog around field 1 time. Come back into field house and watch the film together. We also have chik-fil-a biscuits and krispy kream donuts and milk and oj. Usually done by 1015-1030am. Kids seem to enjoy it. We never practice on Sunday. I don't sweat it if a kid misses as long as it is excused beforehand. They owe us a 100 yard bear crawl Monday if they miss for any reason. Also, I will have already ODK'd film and at least put in offensive play names. Just a cursory watching. I don't care if the coaches have watched already or not. But most of them already have because of Hudl. We can watch with team. We just tell them like it is. Reasons: 1) Check on injuries 2) Find out about injury you didn't know about 3) Get them rehabbing earlier - Saturday clinic after film 4) Get them moving so they feel better on Mondays 5) Discourage Friday night partying 6) Clean field house 7) Get film done so Monday practice is shorter. Monday is also when jv games are so this helps. 8) We also have a 24 hour rule. Celebrate a win for 24 hours or mourn a loss for 24 hours and then move on to the next opponent. Hard to follow that rule when you wait until Monday to watch film. That seems like a great idea, that gives kids more time to bond and forge a better relationship. It also shows ccommitment

I have never been one for polo shirts either. The shirt and tie would would be the only way for me, I always think to myself I am in a professional setting so I have to dress appropriate and set an example for students. I've been a shirt and tie guy in the past. Now, just button downs like I mentioned earlier. I have a hard time classifying polos as unprofessional though, especially if they are nice polos. I don't think all polos are created equally. Not to say polo are unprofessional just never been my style lol

I had a coach tell m (e once that I couldn't coach RBs because I couldn't demonstrate rocket sweep properly (I am a former lineman and look like it). I told him I could demonstrate it just fine, it would just be in slow motion. So I have to agree that it is not vital to be successful because I'm not the one playing on Friday nights. I think slow motion is better than doing it too fast and the kids not picking it up. Every kid takes information in differently, i coached youth football and the head coach was very keen on execution and doing it crisp. I have always understood more when it was broke down completely just like math. I also am a former lineman.

I have not began teaching, but i was thinking about wearing khakis and a long sleeve shirt with a tie. The professional look I think is a great look Do it and don't back down! I've been doing it for a decade now; I never give in to the casual Fridays or spirit wear days. Like many I did it my first few years, the thing is I ended up with like 50 ties after a few years and I am not going to let them go to waste. Plus I don't really care for polo shirts so much. About half the male teachers at my school now dress like this regularly; we jokingly haze the new male teachers, "there are two kinds of teachers here and you need to choose your side." I have never been one for polo shirts either. The shirt and tie would would be the only way for me, I always think to myself I am in a professional setting so I have to dress appropriate and set an example for students.

I've never had a clip on tie i think traditional is better

Thank you very much!I'll do that. I would work on the technique too, that will really elevate your game look at how your offensive line can use leverage to hold off defenders and give your quarterback more time to find a open receiver. Look at drills for defense as well to get your defensive line thru the offense swim move, push pull, rip. Those are a few things that can help

We have a group this year that is doing it. I let the boys know I wasn't happy about it and got on them about missing the team lifting. Eventually I spoke to the trainer and we all agreed that what they did was fine as long as it was in addition to our program. It was ugly and a few parents and I had some words. I was told by one parent that we have no proof that any of our staff know anything we are talking about. I guess it is time to start spending the money and get certifications. i hope a parent does say that to me i was a power lifter i know what its like

I am wondering what coaches do on gameday. From wake up till bus leaves or first duty at home game. What do you all do? The last school I was at I was the head coach and taught classes 35+ plus so there was never down time, never slow time, never really any time when I wasn't dealing with an issue or doing something for Friday night. Here I am an assistant. I have no responsibility for football from last period until time bus leaves (about 2 hours). Teachers do you structure class different or do anything special in class on gameday?
I just wake up shower and get my game plan ready for 5 he game usually quiet until I get to the field and do walk thrus
