In a state where certain openings stay open for sometimes years because there's no one to fill them and the amount of people going into the profession over the past 10+ years has been cut almost in half, even a small number of people leaving is going to cause major problems. It occurs to me that that attitude isn't much different from who think they can break rules because the team needs them.

If you continually change the rules, sometimes on the same day, and frequently break your own rules, I have no issue if someone chooses break them.

While I understand what you are trying to say, I don't think it is the same as a poor team member thinking he/she can flaunt the rules because they are the best player on the team. To be fair , I believe a more accurate analogy would be a situation where a player or coach would be needed to field a team but didn't want to practice/meet on Saturdays or have 5 day a week summer sessions.
