I am not looking for a debate here, just curious to see if anyone's school district has released guidelines already for the 2021-2022 school year in regards to masks, testing, etc. Our school is awaiting guidelines from the Archdiocese but the big local public school in town made an announcement they are going to have their students in masks at least for the first semester.

We are not required to wear masks if we are in the weight room with kids or doing drills. However, if a team is "scrimmaging" inside, they have to wear masks. So, for example, if the basketball team is practicing layups, they don't have to wear masks. But if they are going 5 on 5, they have to mask up. Also, if we are in the classroom with students, like summer school, for example, both the teacher and the students have to be masked. I'm also a driver ed teacher. We are still required to be masked in the car with students.
My sense is that public schools here in Illinois will still have a mask requirement in August.

From what I’ve been told VA will not have any restrictions related to football. I’m sure we will have to wear masks during school hours when students are in the building, though.

Nothing yet in CA, but the feeling is that coaches will have to wear masks in the fall.

I would suspect that in the deep south, no restrictions.
That said, I know some teachers will be wearing masks because for the first time in their careers they did not get sick.

Masks were optional in school after the last day of school. Most aren’t wearing them now during summer school. I haven’t heard of any big restrictions yet for football this fall.

Everything seems back to normal. With the state and CDC guidance I don’t see the state reverting back unless there is some new variant that starts to take off

Just like 20-21, it changes so fast who knows what it is from one week to another. Just like last season, we are told something different every few days and it often is in conflict.

not doing the mask bs again just not doing it did it once for program and loyalty never again Oh, they're back at it again with this Delta variant. It's coming. Our fine governor in Illinois was already talking about "taking measures" for the fall because of the variant. Meanwhile our county is sitting at a 1 case a day 7 day average for about the last month.

My school didn’t require them this year in Tennessee so I don’t see it being anything but a “normal” year here

I don't see them being required in PA. Masking was removed by the state on June 28th and our school is removing it, too.

No masks in classrooms
No masks on field unless in weight room or locker room
Finally feels like normal
We do shut down for the winter after thanksgiving

I could see some rationale for it last year, but at this point I don't see the reason.

Illinois just put a school on "probation" for saying masks would be optional before the start of next year. If they don't change their policy the state is going to shut the school down. From the Champaign newspaper-
He pointed to the Red Hill school district in southeastern Illinois that was put on probation by the state for relaxing its mask guidance. If the district doesn’t alter its policy, the state could close the school.
The district had made masks optional going into the fall. In response, the Illinois State Board of Education, in a letter dated June 23, said it would lower its recognition status to “on probation.”

Our superintendent released our back-to-school plan a week ago. Masks are going to be recommended but not required. That was based on the guidance from the CDC issued a few weeks ago. But then the CDC came out 2 days ago and dropped a turd in the pool by contradicting themselves and saying that all K-12 kids need to be masked. Our state (deep blue) public health department adopted that approach so I'm thinking now that we will have to change the return to school plan and require everyone to wear a mask.

I am interested to see what happens here, as we are REDDDDDD. The state dept of ed did just what it did last year and essentially punted, stating that they feel "local districts know what is best for their communities and situations" (funny that isn't the policy when it comes to things like testing, curriculum, and other parts of the education world....lol). Our district is "very concerned" and "monitoring the situation" while "highly recommending everyone wear masks". Translation: business as usual unless an agency with mandate authority makes us do anything.

Just got word yesterday......Oregon will require masks K-12.
I've got a funny feeling this won't help football numbers for the 2nd year in a row. I've already heard of a handful of families that will opt out of sending their kids to be masked in school and have them do online or homeschool instead........again.
We've already lost good football kids to, "I can do my school stuff at home, them go work and make money instead of sports."

Assuming their kids that work at fast food places and whatnot, I see the kids at fast food places in Ohio and Michigan still wearing masks. As of now, we have been told back to normal. I live in Ohio, work in Michigan and neither state has announced more than that. Like I am sure others feel, but as a private school, we will lose students if we go back to masks or any kind of remote learning. We already had quite a bit of teacher turnover from teachers who had enough of all the BS and went into private sector or teaching virtuallly.

I don't know if parents would necessarily react the same this go around if things such as masks or other policies are enacted. Remote learning maybe, but I don't know about masks simply based on the fact that unlike last school year, THIS school year is seeing a great number of sick children. I know last year the major complaint from parents who complained was that kids got quarantined multiple times without ever "being sick". Right now though, multiple children's hospitals are at capacity, and a simple google search show record numbers in children's hospital's across the nation.

Our fine governor in the state of Illinois is set to announce a mask mandate for all those attending or working in schools for this upcoming year this afternoon.
Also going to mandate vaccinations for all those working in prisons such as myself. Should be interesting how his #1 supporter- our union, who has vocally said mandatory vaccinations aren't cool, reacts.

Here in Michigan Whitmer has been going hard saying we aren’t returning to a mandate (I don’t think she can issue one anymore after powers being stripped) and that it would be up to businesses and districts. Our district said all summer long they’d be optional but I have a hunch that this could be changing. I don’t expect a firm decision for a few more weeks.
