My comment was meant purely as tongue in cheek. Was hoping by cracking a joke that maybe everybody would stop taking themselves so dang seriously. My mention of an amendment making it legal to own weapons, and airman's comment about an amendment making it legal for him to offend me made that a pretty funny group of postings. If I ever get mad enough to actually be "offended" that bad I need to quit coaching. No harm intended!  |

it was most likely me. i am guessing someone didn't like the message behind my ability to arm myself...which if one actually knew me well you would know i do not own a gun (unless you count my pump pellet gun with the bent barrel). i will refrain from commenting on my aresenal of weapons from this point in time further! lol

There really isn't any need for criticizing anyone's offense. You can discuss strengths and weakness of it. Point out things that you may think are unsound, or may not work well with what you have to work with. But the guys out there that KNOW what they are doing in these different schemes have been through all the mistakes with it. They have (or should have) answers to anything that appears unsound.

I must concur all defenses suck. Anything made to intentionally screw up what I am trying to do sucks! And Brophy...that picture....did you really need to!  I mean i was eating breakfast when I saw it..........I think she was a cheerleader at my high school when I played. |

my offense works great against air or against 11 guys holding bags...maybe i should call ahead to see if opposing coaches will let us play against their guys holding bags? what do ya think? lol

knighter, my offense looks great on bags or air too....we never got to run it live against defenders...well, not more than 5 anyhow...some practices we had just 13 kids out when i first took over....THATS BAD.

no, they usually want to try and play with 12 though lol...hey get this, we once ran a power focused practice, nothing but powers and counter cutback from the pat line...we put 20 kids on defense in a 9-9-2 set up...the DC was playing middle lber with a shield...we ran powers and cutbacks and scored on 46 out of 52 attempts...nice huh?

wow. But you know what? YOU GUYS SHOULD RUN MY DEFENSE! It's unstoppable.... We tested my defense against a .357 magnum at point blank range....and it still couldn't be stopped! That's right, this defense is more awesome than the most awesome of things ever. Furthermore, with this defense, your defensive ends will be Man-Eaters. That means they will eat men. Sure you can giggle and think "they eat men, that's dirty" but then they'll punch you in the kidney with an oversized supersonic fist. Then you will cry. But back to the defense. The defense is so awesome, 8 million naked supermodels holding whiskey and midgets wouldn't be as awesome as it. So Double Wing and heck, Spread too, you better watch out. Because this defense is nastisimo. That's spanish for "gonna getcha". And when you start talking Spanish, that means business. And with this defense, your business is eating competition with this mighty defense, Chuck Norris-style. So, you better cover your faces offenses, because my defense is coming to town and you're about to get punched like it's Grenada all over again.  |

we do the same with 14-16 kids on defense during power period i know a have a love for the forward pass. so why would one put 14 to 20 players on defense when they are practicing the double wing offense? I guess I just do not get it and I know I never will. |

at the lower levels I have witnessed blocking sweeps and such (even traps) with 14+ guys on defense.
But when you get guys that know what they're doing on defense, getting a hat-on-hat is tough for the offense.
I can see the confidence thing, and we HAVE done the 14 guy PAT block before....but when it comes down to execution and not SDing....get the bodies where they are supposed to be.
