Well said Split 50!! That is EXACTLY how you should handle it.
That is the perfect way of handling this... This is a slippery slope and if you dignify these questions your time there will be miserable!

Oh and one final thing for these geniuses...
If anything the Navy triple option is a GREAT equalizer!! Look at the success of Air Force and Navy with 1/10 of the talent. Look at JOhnson at GA Tech...
What is wrong with the offense??? THey need to give you time so the program can grow. All of their "Shortsightness" is what got them into this mess to begin with. You are just cleaning up the mess that was passed on to you!!
Those guys are a$$ clowns and clueless!! I guess you can tell this hits a nerve!

Coach,
I was at a program just like yours.... We had NO discipline and a team GPA of 1.7. My first job at a school with a winning tradition and HIGH expectations. The football team was a MESS!! I came in blew it up started 16 sophomores my first two years and proceeded to go 2-8 and 2-8 my first two years. The AD and Principal left me the hell alone and let me do my job. Over the first two years here is what we accomplished: 1. Team GPA over 2.6 2. over 30 players with a 3.0 3. Discipline problems were gone (So were the players) 4. We raised 40,000.00 in aggressive fundraising 5. Rigourous / intense and very, very competitive off-season training.
The results: Year Three - 7-3 - Playoff apprearance
Year Four The schools first playoff win in over 10 years.
Tell the AD and School board guy to go and {censored} themselves. You can leave and go somewhere else. Thos idiots don't desereve you!!
Believe me they NEED you more than you need them. That AD should be ASHAMED of himself for even trying that!!

Coach, For five years I 2 platooned but kind of fudged it... We would identify our two way players (Usually around 4 - 6) and I would send them to their position coach everyday... One day o and one day d.... I would juggle them. IF we were installing a new blitz or scheme I would make sure they were there for that.
The one thing I did was everyday have a 15 - 20 minute team period for BOTH offense and defense. So no matter what everyday the two way player got defense or offense team reps...
Problem I ran into at this new school was depth at positions. This system was great at my old school (Back to back playoff seasons and the schools first regional championship game in almost 20 years). But at my new school our depth is lacking. With injuries our back ups were kids who should NEVER have been on the field.
Next year we will play EVERYONE both ways.... An example: 3:00 - Offense Pre-Practice 3:15 - Stretch 3:30 - Offense Indy 3:45 - Offense Group 3:55 - Offense Middle Drill / Inside Drill 4:05 - Offense Team 4:20 - SPTMS 4:30 - D Indy 4:45 - D Group 4:55 - D - Middle Period / Inside Drill 5:05 - D Team 5:20 - COND 5:30 - Done with us stretching at 3:15 that is a 2 hour and 15 minute practice... Little long for my liking but it is something we can do.
Monday / Tuesday - Full Pads Wednesday Eliminate Middle period and Indy and emphasive more group work... Shorten practice to finish at 5:15. Light Cond on Wed.
Thursday - Walk thru - Review all special teams / offense / defense - Helmets - 1 hour and 15 minutes. NO Cond.
Friday - Game
Saturday AM - Players come in for films.
Hope that helps. I found if you are organized and run an effecient practice you can juggle the two way guys.

Coach,
Last year when I was at a school with 2600 students we had 14 for all levels: 8 Varsity - We had our players go one way 2 JV 4 9th grade...
I came to a new school smaller and this year we had 12....
Next year the kids will go both ways so I plan to do the following: 10 together 6 Varsity - 2 JV 2 9th grade
At the varsity level we will have our kids go both ways. The JV and 9t grade sub levels will practice together next year (Basically 9th grade and 10th grade team). We will have around 45 Juniors and seniors on varsity alone.
I have found sometimes when you have TOO many coaches there can be a lot of standing around and down time. The plus was we had plenty of peopel to help with fields, laundry, inventory... All of the grunt work!
