Since we aren't talking the best "pro" then I'll nominate....
Kenneth Hall, the Sugarland Express ...
From 1950 to ’53, he rushed for 11,232 yards for Sugar Land High School. His senior season was downright ridiculous — he averaged 337.1 yards and 32.9 points a game, also national records. His 4,045 yards rushing that year remain a national record for a 12-game season.

Kansas hasn't had as many great pros as some of the more populous states but I'd agree with superpower that Barry Sanders is probably the best. However, I'd like to mention a few close ones Nolan Cromwell John Riggins They called Gale Sayers the Kansas Comet, but I think he just played college ball in Kansas I could list several other pros but probably not top tier and a couple of currents: Mark Simoneau, Jerame Tuman, Lamar Chapman Gayle Sayers was from Omaha - I believe he played at Omaha South, same high school as Dave Rimington. Omaha Central, actually

Here's a few from Georgia that I liked, but its tough to pick one "best". Ray Guy, Kevin Butler, Herschell Walker, Garrison Hearst, Charlie Ward, Willie Gault, Fran the man Tarkenton, Takeo Spikes, Charles Grant, William Andrews, Hines Ward, The Bailey brothers-Champ and Boss, Jesse Tuggle and I like this new kid Thomas Davis. Oh, and I gotta plug my little buddy from around here lol, probably the best all around player I've seen, at 5'7 180 pounds/4.3 speed, could cover any reciever, great special teams guy, good tackler and fearless running back, could actually play any position on the field, set lots of school records at Valdosta State when he went there! Aaron Jenkins. Lots more, just can't think this early in the morning lol!

John Hannah is from Alabama not Georgia. And yes he is probably the best from Alabama Not unless they moved Canton, GA, he isn't: www.profootballhof.com/hof/member.jsp?player_id=88Born in Georgia, schooled in AL/TN/AL, now resident in Football Valhalla...well, still Massachusetts, I think, but he'll go there some day... ;D ;D

Holy Crap!!!! How could I have missed JimThorpe playing ball in Kansas. By the way I'm pretty sure Thorpe was from Oklahoma and was only in Kansas to attend the Haskell Indian Nations school which today is a college, although I'm not sure about in Thorpe's time.
By the way I'm off the football subject but I coach in a town of 2500 that has produced 2 olympians with 7 medals and 3 world records in Track.

Not to be too technical, but Lawrence Taylor was from the State of Virginia (Williamsburg), not North Carolina. But had he been from North Carolina, I would definately agree with you, coachg.

Being from Wisconsin and looking at the impressive NFL list it may be difficult to argue some names on that list from my state but many of those names are from a different time in pro-football. Recent Names : Dave Krieg (DC Everest) - QB too many NFL teams to name, Tony Romo (Burlington) current Dallas, Paul Gruber (Sauk Prarie) Tampa Bay, Jim Flannigan (Southern Door) Da Bears, Cory Raymer (Fond du Lac) Washington/San Diego, Rabach (Sturgeon Bay) Seattle/Baltimore, Terry Stieve (Baraboo) St. Louis Cardinals, Mike Reinfeldt (Baraboo) Houston Oilers, Older names: RB for Texas wishbone 1st championship (Hudson), Elroy "CrazyLegs" Hirsch (Wausau) Michigan and Rams, Jim Otto (Wausau) Oakland, Alan Ameche (Kenosha), Jerry Tagge (Green Bay West) Nebraska, This is a cool post - interesting to see all the names ---- Illinois what about Red Grange or Ray Nitschke? , Kansas - Gail Sayers? A couple to watch: Joe Thomas OT (Brookfied Central) Wisconsin - #1 OT in upcoming draft, Doug Free (Manitowoc Lincoln) Northern Illinois - #3 OT in upcoming draft
