Or am I all alone? Commiserate with me, share your pain . . . Grew up in Southeastern MA, moved to WA in 1987, never converted to the Seahawks. Five Boston championships in the last few years isn't enough for me! As bad as I feel though, gosh, I love football! Screamed myself hoarse . . . what a game! Still though . . .

I live in new england, played college football in mass., life long patriot fan....but over the past few years my love for the Pats have slowly dwindled. Biggest reason is Belichick. He may be a great X and O guy (when he has talent) but he's a not what you call a "players" coach. Just the whole way he presents himself just totally turns me off. Never though I'd ever be routing against the Pats in a game until now.

I'm sorry you feel awful but considering I live in St. Louis and the Patriots mugged, held, and now apparently illegally filmed their way to the Super Bowl 36 title, I have only feelings of joy for them coming up short.
I apologize if this sounds unprofessional mods but the Rams fans in St. Louis will never get over how that game turned out.

Not a big Patriot fan but a huge admirer of the entire organization. I have one thing to vent about due to the negative views on their HC.
For the Bill haters out there:
If Bill Belichick ran a clinic near your school, you'd come running to learn from a great FB mind. You'd either be a liar or an idiot if you said you wouldn't.
Why rip into the guy?
He's paid his fine to the league, right?
He's faced the media scrutiny and handled it. And we (HC's) endlessly complain about parents who scrutinize what we do. Maybe we could all learn a lesson on how to make a mistake, how to be thick skinned, and how to lead a team effectively. They were beat by a talented, well coached, inspired team that made a few more plays. Period.
He's backed by his boss, right?
His team is behind him, right?
Maybe the Bill bashing could come to an end and some folks could practice a little forgiveness and get on with your lives.
By the way. I don't agree with the cheating (spygate) thing either but last time I checked with MY wife, I'm very far from perfect. She reminds me of this probably daily.

touchdowng,
I actually have to disagree that the players are behind him. They only back him publically while they are on the team. Many former Pats plays and formers Browns players have publically stated how much of a prick he is (have to watch my language) once theyve left the organization.
He comes off as completely phony to me.

Got an uncle who's a firefighter there at the navel base. It's a nice area, whenever I go home, I fly into Providence rather than deal with the nightmare that is Logan Airport in Boston. From there, it's just almost an hour's drive in the rental car to see the rest of the family in MA . . .

His cheating doesn't end with football (?)You must know him personally. Do you KNOW anybody who has ever played for the man? I do - He was a backup on Belichick's first SuperBowl team - He thinks the man is a football genius. He was left unsigned after that year and Bill took the time to make sure all was good with him and his family before they parted. Do you actually listen to the media? LOL.

Was anyone genuinely happy the Giants won, or just that Belichick - er, the Patriots - lost?

Okay, I'm on a venting rampage vs. the kick a man while he's down club.
Did anybody notice that Belichick and Coughlin talked at mid-field even though there was :01 left on the clock? Any clue as to what might have been shared between the two HC's? I don't.
Some of the posters are saying that Belichick ran off the field before the knee down and it was classless. Wow. That's all I can say. Should he have ran back out a second time to congratulate him again and invite him over to the locker room for a beer?
Yes he did run off field. Are you saying that he didn't congratulate Coughlin for the win?

There seemed to be some confusion too about the clock, it was at :00 at one point and went back to :02, seemed Joe Buck was taken aback for just a moment before they put the two seconds back on the clock. Can we give Belichick the benefit of the doubt?

Did it go back to one second? I think I was in the other room pulling my hair out at that point.

Well it was easier rooting for eli manning and tom coughlin. It was also easier to root against belichick amid cheating allegations and the pats who according to media were better than the 60s packers, 70 steelers, 85 bears, 80s niners, 90s cowboys and oh yeah they were better than the perfect 72 dolphins. well guess not. maybe they will criticize brady for hanging with bundchen like they did romo...the big underdog winning is just more fun. sorry if your a pats fan.

The way I look at it, it's all supposed to be in good fun. It seems like I'm having more fun being a Patriots fan after this loss than most who hate the Pats are having (all due respect to Khalfie LOL). BTW, who wins in a hot girlfriend contest, Brady or Romo? Brady by a nose?

Overall... a great game to watch.
I discount all of the media/Belichick cheating nonsense... they stole signals (legal) by technological means (video... which is illegal), and accepted and paid the fine... over as far as I'm concerned (what is not over is Sen. Arlen Specter's ramblings... gotta say, he makes Republicans look pretty bad that they voted a mentally dysfunctional person in to office...)
I wanted the Pats... because I like the dominant programs... and I like to see the best win.
Still, a part of me wanted the Giants... because back in the 70s, I was a huge Dolphins fan. The 4 year old in me wanted MY team to remain the ONLY perfect one.
In the end, I got what I wanted... a great game ( I would have been happy with a final of 7-3... the 17-14 score was too much offense for me... ;D)

While I'm not a true blue pats fan, I was rooting for the pats. Someone had to win and the reason I went for the pats: The methodical nature of the organization and the way that they got players to perform in their system all year, for many years, I think, is something that we try to emulate as coaches.
The thing that I couldn't get over was the play of the pats OLine. While there was no way that I've seen every single pats game all year, but I have seen the last six or seven. None of the games that I have seen prior to the superbowl did the OL have such poor footwork during pass pro. Not every snap, but more often than not, I saw lunges with the upper body, sometimes crossing over feet and sometimes it looked like the OL had on concrete shoes. Whether the DL of the NYG caused it or not, poor footwork is what happened and the results are now obvious.

Devastated.... Samuel has to make that interception that was in his hands. What a disappointment.

Bellichik should not have left the field before the game was over, Randy Moss did that 2 years ago and he got skewered for it. Have a little class, your players stayed on the field to finish the game, you should. And don't tell me the "genius" didn't know they put more time on the clock, not buying it.

I was thrilled with the way the game turned out. The main reasons are because I can't stand Moss or Bellichik. I'll start out with Moss. He cried like a baby and chose not to try while in Oakland. Then he gets to New England and suddenly reemerges as one of the leagues elite WR's. Personally, I wouldn't want a guy on my team that only plays to his abilities when he believes that the team he is on has a chance to win. As a coach I hesitate to knock on any other coach but let me play the role of NFL fan for a moment. The way Bellichik presents himself really rubs me the wrong way. Wearing a cut up sweatshirt during games makes him look ridiculous. All coaching staffs should look like class. I'm not saying he should go to the extreme of wearing a suite and tie, but a coaching polo certainly wouldn't hurt anything.

Packers fan my whole life.
But, I enjoyed watching Brady win that first superbowl...the kid looked genuinely appreciative. I was interested in watching a dynasty.
But, they cheated. They are cheaters. More and more will come out. Their cheating is going to get more and more exposed.
I can't ever be a fan of cheaters.

You dont leave your team out on the field to finish the game. That was just as classless as having someone film the other team's signals. I really see this guy as a "me" coach.
