just another perspective on this one....I have had the pleasure of coaching adult women, and the thing I've found is that if you can invest the time to teach them, they are no different than young men. Emotions are another issue, but technique-wise..it's still the same ball-game.

There already has been a lawsuit - can' t remember the state but it was in Coaching Management this year. Boy got to play.
We had a girl kicker 2 years ago. Senior Soccer player. outstanding athlete. Did all the warm-ups and all of our team conditioning. Worked on PAT and KO (our routine) during practice and joined us for specific team work. We would put extra pressure on her (and everyone else) by adding up-downs if a kick was missed during this period. I think she only had 2-3 misses in practice up to 40 yards! Made a 48 yard FG in practice. Went 35 for 38 on PAT's during season, made All-County, and also made 3 one on one TD saving tackles, incluing one in the County All-Star game! How would like to be THAT guy? She was an outstanding kicker for us.

We had a girl take over the xtra pt duties last year and she went 12/14. Personally I think it was a joke to piss off our other kicker who was 12/16 and then the press got behind it so we never switched back. She blew her knee out in soccer so she won't be back.

I think that girls should just start thier own team. If I become the girls Lacrosse head coach and (our school does not have boys lacrosse) had all my Linebackers and Running backs make up the team and won a girls Lacrosse state championship, im sure some parents wouldn't be too happy, so why should it be allowed the other way around?

Guys, outside of a punter or a kicker, a girl will probably never be a position player except at the smallest of schools. We're a small school and the girl who kicked for us (see above) was a stud kicker - I forgot to mention her kickoffs were seldom returned outside the 25 due to her distance and placement. If a kid can play, if they can make your team better, are you really going to say they can't play for you? If a girl wants to try out for the team, make her go through every step just like any other potential player would including Spring (if it's required), Summer (if it's required), or your basic 2 a days. Again, if she's a player, I want her/him on the team. If she/he can't play (not good enough) then it doesn't matter.
