Everywhere I have been it has been coaches washing Game unis and players responsible for practice.

Have a company that washes, sews, and repairs all of our game jerseys & pants. It's pretty nice.

Coaches are assigned different locker rooms, Varsity, JV, and Freshmen. If you're assigned a locker room you're responsible for washing the laundry daily and unis after games.

Do coaches or managers do the laundry in your program? Last HC I worked for would stay at the office until 7AM after a game washing laundry that night before stains would set in. He wouldn't let anyone else do it. At other places, assistants would take turns doing it. I've only been fortunate enough to work in a place one time where a manager did the laundry. Ironically, that was the poorest program, but we had a volunteer who did it.

Best part was that not only didn't the coaches have to do it, we COULDN"T do it. The machine required a code and only she had it.

kids wash their own stuff
we do have a washing machine here in the PE dept so if a kid doesnt have access to a washing machine and they come talk to me i will wash their stuff for them.
At the end of the year when we collect their stuff our HC washes all the stuff before putting it away... he works for a big chem company and they have MASSIVE washers there that can do like 10 loads at a time

Coaches wash game stuff but when everything is turned in at the end of the year, it's all washed...no commercial size washers here folks, takes 2 days to do it...breathe through your mouth or you'll regret it

We send our stuff out game cloth to Riddell.
Kids are in charge of their own gear throughout the season and must return at the end of season washed.
In-season, I wash practice pennies, wrist coaches, and beanies.

Coaches wash practice stuff and game stuff. We wash everyday. 2 guys are supposed to get it started before we leave. Usually get 1 washed and in the dryer and another started before we leave. Then it's send an aide to change it over and start another load or go yourself if you have another planning besides last period.

I have never been at a program where the kids don't wash their own stuff throughout the season- and by that I mean everything.
Moreover, there has never been a problem with this. I am shocked how many are the opposite.

I am shocked how many are the opposite. Same. As a player and as a coach, players have always been responsible for their stuff. When I was in high school it was a requirement on the varsity level that practice clothes were washed every day. If you had dirty clothes you ran extra after practice. If you left practice cloth in your locker our head coach would take it home and wash it. Then charge us 5 dollars to get it back. No one really left anything after the first time he went through and did that.

I am shocked how many are the opposite. Once upon a time this would have been my reaction too. I started my career here in Michigan at a state power house, very affluent area in the suburbs of Detroit. Stop number 2 was in NC, at a less than privileged school. I looked at the other frosh coach like he was insane when he said we had to stay and do laundry. Bottom line was, a lot of our guys just didn't have good home lives. Didn't have washing machines, probably didn't have electric in some cases. Sometimes something would happen over the weekend and we wouldn't see a kid again, let alone our gear.

Players/parents are responsible for washing everything on their own. At a previous stop where I was head coach after we collected equipment and uniforms when the season was over we collected everything clean or dirty and washed it ourselves at school. I actually took it all to a laundry mat and did it all at once. This cut down on the amount of delinquency turning equipment in.

Practice uniforms are (supposed) to be the responsibility of the player, though some of them could knock a buzzard off Carcass sometimes, we remind them weekly to take their uniforms home and wash them
One of the team moms takes acre of all the game uniforms .

Players do everything. We have a washing machine in the field house that some kids use to do there stuff. I just supply the detergent.
A kid is in charge of washing towels and pennies everyday.

I coached at a place we had a guy, that had two daughters that were cheerleaders, he didn't have any boys, but he loved football and just wanted to be around guys after only having girls around. He was one of those guys that could do anything tune your engine up, replace your kitchen cabinets, do plumbing work, you name it Joe could get it done. Anyway he volunteered to do all our equipment as well as laundry. Our equipment room organization rivaled major colleges. When we would travel he loaded all the sideline equipment and set it up at the site. This guy was amazing he did this for about 10 years even after his girl's graduated. About the only thing he would not do was issues helmets and shoulder pads because of liability. Us coaches used always tell him how much we appreciated him, of course he would get a nice gift certificate at the end of the season that coaches pitched in from their stipend, but he would tell us how much he appreciated not having to listen to a bunch of "girly" talk for a couple of hours out of his day.

I thought that might be part of it, but I have coached at some very low income schools. In fact I coached at the lone HS that was in the city voted "worst city in the state" 5 years running. We had kids get shot, arrested, etc. Still always ended up getting the gear back.

I got a female Admin, she came down stairs one day to see me in the football office. Before we talk I told her you are about to see the sexiest thing a man can do for you. I am about to put in the laundry, dry it, fold it and put it away! Got a 3 year extension the next day!

Jerseys are done by volunteer parent. Game pants, practice jersey/pants are washed by individual player at the end of the week.
If a kid forgets practice gear = conditioning. Forgetting game pants = benched for game

Coaches are assigned different locker rooms, Varsity, JV, and Freshmen. If you're assigned a locker room you're responsible for washing the laundry daily and unis after games. Who is in charge of redistributing to players? How does that process work? The coaches assigned to the locker room. We have the nylon straps with the locker numbers. Each kid puts their laundry on their strap and puts it in the laundry bin. After it is washed & dried the coaches hang the straps up in the lockers.

I'm at a small school and we don't do their laundry. If a kid needs help we would help him but there are only a few ever. We might do the game stuff from the final game if necessary but usually they return clean stuff.
