It's like I have heard coaches on both sides calling kids soft more this year than I have before. It may be that I am in a new area though. I don't love the term. I think some kids are soft, but usually softness is a combination of lack of preparation and lack of conditioning. I do hear that some from other coaches, but our kids constantly amaze me how tough they are.

I hate when I catch myself saying "about" or "kinda". For example, on a route go about 8 to 10 yards. Or I want you to block so & so but kinda keep an eye out for the blitz. I find then when I ask a kid to do something "about like this or kinda like that" I get about what I want or something kinda right. If I speak in grey terms I get grey results. I have made it a definite effort to be very black & white in my coaching over the past few years. I try to speak in more exact terms. This is a superb post. Great wisdom here.

LOL a few years ago something happened at a nearby school where a big time donor was the OC. I don't recall exactly what went down but he was told that he couldn't be a booster and coach. He said phuc you all and took everything with him that he donated, including the field turf. Wait, dude literally had them remove the turf from the field? Did the government take back the tax deduction
