This is a good idea. I have used hangouts for some private clinics with programs where the logistics didn't allow a live clinic. A few years ago a bunch of us got together on Thursday evenings during the winter and did Skype sessions. We had 6 to 8 of us talking ball. We picked a topic each week and had a different coach present. We had some great coaches get involved and everyone got a lot out of it. Zoom sounds interesting. I am going to check it out. Any chance you'd be willing to give a talk at some point, coach? You have a lot of great stuff out there. I know you monetize a lot of it which I absolutely respect, but wondering if there's anything you do you'd be willing to talk on. I'm also willing to talk on something at some point guys. By now most of you who read my posts should know what I'm about. Let me know if there's anything I do that you're curious about.

Active. When are you talking about doing this? What should the first discussion be about?

Active. When are you talking about doing this? What should the first discussion be about? Can be about anything really. Offensive topic, defensive topic, HCs can talk about program management type things, etc. As far as when, I am thinking maybe Wednesday nights at 9:00 Eastern time? Not sure yet on the first one, or how frequent.

I could definitely be down to either watch or present.
It would be nice if someone has the technology to record these, or if someone tells me how and I'll do it and YouTube them.

I was planning on doing it if I'm hosting the Zoom sessions. It's pretty easy. Then I'll post them for guys who can't be there.

I've watched a couple e-clinics, one of which was by Coach Vint I think a couple years ago on power which was phenomenal. I would definitely be interested in this.
1. Organize a list of who wants to present and on what topics. I think 2 a week would be cool, but you might find that there are 20 guys willing to present and that might mean there are more in one week then the last.
2. If you only have a maximum of 50 people allowed on that Zoom application, then you could do a sign up form on google drive and list 50 spots to put e-mails for the Zoom invite the night of the presentation. If you decide to get more than that by purchasing, then just post the link on here and twitter.
3. Create a blog or something to post the links to download it after it is over that way the guys that couldn't attend or get in still have access. Or you could create an archive post here on Huey.
4. You might even get people to sponsor it like they do on some of the twitter chats. I think GoRout did something with the #txhsfbchat on twitter.
Just a couple thoughts I had when thinking about it. Great idea though, look forward to it

Once the playoffs are done let's talk about it. There is nothing better than coaches coming together to share ideas.

Coach Smith Great job with this, I plan to share with the rest of my staff when we get this rolling. No better way to learn then from other coaches

Can I make a suggestion? It might help if somebody records their talk ahead of time so that people can watch it and show up with questions at a multi-user event. I know I'd be very interested but scheduling enough time to watch a live talk would be tough.
Just a thought. This is a very cool idea, though.

So record the talk as a lecture, we watch it, and then a week later hold an open forum for questions?

When we were doing the Skype webinars we did two topics for 20 minutes each. We left 10 minutes for questions. The problem was that we could only have up to 10 people on at a time. We did 20 minutes of lecture and 10 minutes of questions. Once that 30 minutes was up we moved to the next presenter. We had some dang good coaches jump on there sharing.

So record the talk as a lecture, we watch it, and then a week later hold an open forum for questions? You can do Q and A live. We are limited to 40 minutes so maybe a 25 minute talk and 15 for Q and A?

Coach Smith Great job with this, I plan to share with the rest of my staff when we get this rolling. No better way to learn then from other coaches That's exactly what I was thinking. I can go listen to Jim Harbaugh and Mark Dantonio talk for days, but there is nothing more applicable than guys doing what I am doing. The Jim Light blog going away (it's still there but he has to be selective on who he lets in) left a huge vacuum. I have been racking my brain thinking about how to fill this void when suddenly this idea came to me. I really hope we can get this thing to catch some momentum.

i think there is some validity to pre-recording talks and playing them back live and getting responses at the end.
i know some streamers (video gaming) that do that.

Forty minutes goes by in an awful hurry. What if we YouTube the lecture portion the week prior and then had the whole forty for questions?

Almost like a flipped classroom. Do your lecture before you come in and then have time for discussion. Could still archive both too. I'd like to play with it both ways. There is that other conference call thing I mentioned too that doesn't have the time or participant restraint. I just haven't used it before so i would need a couple of guys to test it prior to using it for a clinic.

Record discussion/material.
People who watch time stamp their question. "At the 3:30 mark you mentioned that your DE shrinks when the TE blocks down...can you explain his technique on that?"
I would think you would then do something like stated before where people sign up to be a part of the discussion. But have the questions ready...using the time stamp situation.
Even better the presenter gets the questions ahead of time and can answer them immediately...and then have an open discussion.
Thinking out loud.

Pigging backing my last thought above...the presenter...if they have time can create video answer to the most pressing questions and share those out.
A lot of work...but could be a lot of sponging.

I'd rather keep it interactive though. I don't want it to become the same thing as going back and watching pre recorded Glazier webinars. Those are great, I just want to make something different.
