BLB is right on Michigan. We go to 7 on 7 and it's hitch a ride with a bro. Fortunately we host most of ours. We would get in so much trouble if we tried to do that. I wouldn't mind. It would make my life easier, but there would be some angry admins We go to a couple 7 on 7's and we are going to a team camp. To echo what trinason said if did have kids try to hitch a ride with friends a drive there we would get in so much trouble, for one its county policy that we are not allowed to have athletes drive to competitions. Plus most of our guys don't have vehicles to drive in the first place. We probably only have a handful of guys that have a vehicle to drive and even with that its a couple of those its only part time because they share it with their parent.

So it might not be the place to post this but this thread has a lot of interest so I am posting this question here. The AD just dropped a bomb on us we have to pay to use the bus this summer for every trip we take. Does anyone else have to do this? We have to pay for fuel and driver. We are like a business though..we get all gate money but we pay for everything. The district gives us no budget. So our revenue comes from gate, fundraisers, and donations.

Well I feel fortunate on the transportation issue at least. Any school I've been at the athletic department always covers tranport costs, even over the summer. Of course who contributes the most to that fund? We do. So it seems fair to me.

We host all of our 7 on 7s here, but that's how the other teams roll up.

I could live with that, but as it stand where I am all gate money goes to the county and they put into your schools account, not the football account the general athletic fund to distributed by the AD as he sees fit. Plus our principal takes part of our fundraising money and puts it in the general fund. So anything we make that goes into the football account doesn't matter to him.

Inability to hire coaches. We have 150+ players in our program and we have only 2 assistants at the school. Fortunate to have good volunteers but many times they are late or have to miss practice because of their work obligations. We've made it work but it's frustrating when I have a good candidate with successful teaching experience and the admin hires somebody out of left field....whatever

If a non-teacher is allowed to weigh in, here are a few "worsts" from my job:
-Rolling up on a project that the work environment is so nasty I have workers outside puking, yea it was nasty. -Being down in a ditch in the middle of a commercial kitchen, were the water lines had to be repaired, your sweating your arse off and you can here the owner on the phone yelling at the maint guy to "Keep pushin those contractors or they will get lazy". Oh yeah it was after hours and I REALLLLLYYYY want to be here. -Having to lay people off when the economy slows to a crawl. People who depend on you to provide for their family.
Everyone has "worst parts" of their job, I feel it is how you deal with the task at hand without the outside worst part influencing your day that helps me get through some crud filled moments. I am always trying to be positive with myself and think of all the great things my profession has provided me. I also try to keep in mind, that when I encounter a "worst part", somebody somewhere has it worse than me.

Worst part of my job is I'm not teaching or coaching. I work as a maintenance man and errand boy. Smh
