Whether Meyer's comments swayed the polls or not, I think it's his job to get his the best oppertunity he possibly can for his players. The head coach has to go to bat for his players as their voice to the public. According to computers and win losses, his team played the toughest schedule in the NCAA. I'm not saying they are better than Michigan, but Mich already had their shot at OSU and couldn't get the job done. Looking back at it I'm sure he would do it again in a heartbeat just as any of us would what what we could to give our players the very best oppertunities.
Go Gators!!!!!

BCSfootball.orgmichigan's bcs rating increased from last week, even though no one in the big 10 played a game this week. just so happened, that florida's bcs ranking increased more. their point total in the coaches' poll decreased just 1 point from last week, while florida's increased 65. that is a minimal amount. not enough to sway the overall bcs rankings by themselves. florida's harris rating increased 142 points while michigan's harris rating dropped only 18. michigan stayed relatively the same or even better in the computers while florida improved in each of them, dramatically for the computer scoring system. now, i'm not bcs genious (as if anyone is ... lol) but it looks like the computer element to this deal was more than the coaches or the voters of the harris poll

Another "what if".
Florida beats OSU. But it's close. Last minute FG, OT etc....
Michigan routs USC. 4+ touchdowns (over 28 points)
Split title?

I agree promoting your team may be one thing, but bashing another team to promote yours is totally different. Meyer should not have brought up Michigan when talking about Florida, that is all I am saying. That is why I applaud Carr.
Kirk Herbstreit said it best. If UM-OSU was this past Saturday night instead of two weeks ago UM would not have fallen in the standings. UM was hurt by not playing the last two weeks of a season. But they will be a pissed off Rose Bowl team I think and USC needs to be ready for that.
And Huey, I see your point with the computer rankings. Even though UM and UF finished tied in them it was still a bigger jump in points then both polls. Did Meyer influence the human polls? Maybe not as much as I first thought, I just think most voters had Gainsville fresh on their minds as opposed to Ann Arbor.

this is a travesty regardless if you are a big 10 fan or not, michigan is clearly the number 2 team in the nation and them not being in the title game vs. tOSU is a joke. i hope tOSU beats florida by 50. the 2 best teams in the nation are big 10 schools, the only people who feel the sec is the best football conference are the sec people
i may boycott watching the title game (okay no i won't but hey, was worth trying to convince myself)

I was at the Michigan-Ohio State game and man for man the buckeyes are a much better team than Michigan and I will explain why. The number one reason that Michigan was in the game was due to turnovers. It would have been one thing if they were forced turnovers but all three were unforced erros by the bucks. Two turnovers inside your own 25 and one of those being inside the 10 and still able to come away with a victory is something that needs to be looked at. The third tunover came when Ohio State was driving in for another score and the center sent a wormburner back to Smith. In any game when you lose the turnover battle 3-0 you will lose 95% of the time, especially when two are so deep in your own territory. Another reason is the men on the sidelines. Tressel is a better coach that Carr is. Now, I am not saying Carr is a bad coach but he just can not get it done in the big spots. He has the same problem that John Cooper faced a few years ago. Copper had a great record while at Ohio State, but could not get it done when it mattered. We had heard all year how this was the best front 7 that Michigan has had in years if not ever. Tressel took on the challenge and put up over 500 yards on the defense and outgained Michigan by over 100 yards. This was one of those games that was not as close as the score would lead you to believe. Ohio State is head and shoulders above the rest of the nation this year. I do not want to take anything away from Michigan because they are a good team. However, they got their shot, played it about as well as they could have, and still lost the game. Florida won the league title in a top rated conference in the nation. They will pose quite a threat in some aspects of the game for Ohio State. This is the first team that has the kind of speed to keep up with Buckeye recievers. However, in the end, the buckeye weapons will show to be too much and they will pull it out. My guess is Ohio State by 10

Its about who has better wins, not better losses Blackfly. Michigan's beat two top 25 teams- ND and Wisc, who in turn beat ZERO top 25 teams. Florida beat 3 top 25 teams (LSU, UT, and Arkansas) who in turn beat FIVE top 25 teams. I think that about sums it up. good point here (from another thread)
