We have a big alumni bbq on the practice field that day, put on by the seniors who just finished playing. We get about 30 or so former players showing up, they cook for the coaches, talk trash, and usually dissipate (go back to their jobs) once this drill is over. It's a pretty fun afternoon.

Not pen related, but maybe video from our first day of hitting drills will help get those of you not in FL thru till the summer... I love that drill, we call it spider. We have 2 DBs/WRs at the third level and the bags funnel out to a big V

I haven't been on much lately but really?? Has the conversations this off season gotten to the point that we are now discussing writing utensils?? And game apparel. Up next: what type of toilet paper do you stock in the coaching office.

For drawing plays and flowcharting and general messing around I buy card stock and sharpies. Don't have to wear glasses and it doesn't bleed through.
Pencil - I staedler lead holder. Has the large lead and a built in sharpener. Won a couple of bar bets about geekiest writing implement we carried. One I just replaced was worn smooth and the end had been taped because it was cracked.
For notes and doing numbers and thinking stuff I like a nice $30 fountain pen. Had a nice one that I filled from a bottle. Current one is very nice.
The G2 is also on my short list. Medium width.

How about a dual tipped marker? Something with a really fine tip on one end and a highlighter type tip on the other.

I could go into why I believe it, but I'll say that I think having a great pen is important, and gives a great impression when signing documents in person.
It shows that you care, and it shows status. I'm about my reputation more than anything else, and something as stupid as using a crappy pen can subconsciously make people think less if you. No joke. Image is important in the long run.

The type of pen you use won't matter and your reputation-image will take a big hit when you become homeless.

"Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are. " John R. Wooden If my pen is going to make a person think less of me then that person isn't worth impressing.

Reputation and image are totally different things. I know, but both are important. I mean, say that you're a car salesman, and you're trying to sell as many cars as possible, and keep getting repeat customers. Obviously, the customer won't think, "hey, he's a great salesman, and they have great cars, but what a crappy pen, no thanks!". But, he will subconsciously probably think of him as less professional. And that hurts Yes, it's a very small detail that in and of itself won't make a huge difference. But the small things add up. Think of it this way: when was the last time an executive order was signed with a Bic pen? They realize it's an important occasion, and they don't want an unaesthetic, unimportant pen to be signing those orders with. Obviously, football coaches aren't signing any executive orders, but I think that a man should always have a great pen on him (especially as a pragmatic suit accessory). Again, not saying it should be even close to the first thing on your mind, but when the choice comes down to literally moving your hand a foot over to get the better pens, get them. Being well-groomed + well-dressed + having a great pen (?) = success

Wooden If my pen is going to make a person think less of me then that person isn't worth impressing. I wholeheartedly agree with Wooden's statement. I really do. I could be hated by every person in the world, but still be happy, because I know who I truly am inside. But why not work on both? Be a great person, and make others believe it. Like I said, it wouldn't be a conscious thing for someone to hate you for using a Bic pen. It just looks unprofessional. Especially when signing documents, since the person's eyes will shift towards your signing hand.

Who cares if you're signing bankruptcy forms as long as you're doing it with a premium pen and not a BIC?
