I'm just curious how close coaches are to where they live?

it is a very convenient 17 minute drive
the Hwy i go on is in the top 10 in the country for crappy commute... but i am always opposite of the traffic i live right off the freeway, my HS is right off the freeway i go 70 on cruise control the whole way and most days never touch the brake til the exit
my prior coaching gig (alma mater) was super close... i live less than 1/2 mile from my alma mater. I can hear the bell ring from my house

6 miles. 10 minutes in my truck on the freeway, or 18 minutes through downtown on my 50cc scooter with the custom school colors paint job.

10-minute drive(7miles). There is very little traffic on my route, but there is a lot of mobile wildlife.

I tried to live close enough to school to be able to walk if need be because we could never afford a new car and I felt it was important to reside in community where I coached.
I don't mind driving but it would have to be a heckuva job to get me to commute more than 20-25 minutes.

Two blocks...and I absolutely love it! I've had a 50-minute commute before and it taught me that about 30 mins was my limit. And, to go with what blb said, it would have to be a heck of a job for me to be willing to drive that far.

2 blocks. I started my career living behind the fieldhouse at my first job and I may end it here at this job where I can see the stadium lights from my back door.

1 mile, 5 minutes driveway to field. Furthest I went was 70 miles. That was only because my old HS HC got a job at a new school and asked me for help getting it up off the ground. He was a father figure so I made the trip for a couple years. Cost me a car and a ton of gas money though.

What's the furthest you guys would travel for a football only gig? No teaching job.

Currently 1 mile. I can see the football field from my second floor. It's awesome.
Other jobs- 1. About 2 miles- my first year here my teaching job was 400 steps from my house 2. 45 min drive- was only for 1 year. This job sucked so it was nice to decompress before I got home. I was never home though as our HC was a put hours in kind of guy. 3. About a mile and half 4. 4 miles 5. 35 miles

Currently: 30 minutes 2 years ago: 60 minutes (bought a house closer)
Other: 1. 35 minutes 2. 12 minutes
I prefer 10-30 minutes, I don't want to be farther because it's a pain, but it's nice to unwind after the day/practice/game. I also don't want to be right beside the school, don't want the kids coming over to my house.

about 50 minutes to get there with traffic, about an hour to get home.
Last school took 10-15, but I'd rather drive and be in the classroom where I'm at now than have a short drive and be in the former classroom situation.
I think it also matters where you want to live. As much as we drive to school in season, you are still going to spend most of your time in the town you live in. I'd rather live where I do than move to the suburbs to have a short trip.
